I'm an early adopter of Star Citizen. I have "DONATED" more than I'm happy to admit. That said, it's made leaps and bounds in recent years and the tech being developed leads to easier creation of future content. In other words, they're not just making a full life-sized fully explorable planet, but the tools necessary to quickly and easily make hundreds of full life-sized fully explorable planets. When I started we were excited to have a space station and ships to fly around in space - now there are a dozen fully rendered planets and moons with cities and orbiting stations along with missions and unbelievable features never before seen in MMOs. Soooo... it's got that going for it.
@darthslayer98

This is something a lot of people don’t realize when looking at the exorbitant funding numbers. Rockstar already had all of their tools ready to go. They already had an engine. They spent all that time and money on just the story and the things that go in the game. CIG is first making all those tools, including a fair amount that nobody has ever made before, and then making all the things that go in the game. If you want to compare development times and budgets with something like RDR2 you have to take into account the time and money spent in the past on building their development tools and engine.
@Johnny_Cash_Flow

@@darthslayer98 Excellent point. I still am critical of some of the decisions CIG has made in spending said donations (the famous door controversy), but when it comes to actual development of the final product, I'm continually impressed, and slightly disappointed, every time I step back into the Verse.

I am starting to get a Duke Nukem Forever vibe with SC. If you take too long, someone is going to decide to "upgrade" it to stay current, which will knock it back a few more years while they try to get just the right look and work out the new bugs that will pop up with moving to a more CPU intensive game. Always my favorite gamer and videos. I’m always eagerly awaiting the new gaming stories each month. I remember seeing the one for December describing an attack on a video arcade in New Orleans that occurred right around the corner from my house.
Using new, modern hardware, you've never been able to build a pc for the same price as the current generation of consoles and match their performance. Falcon nailed it. PC components have different standards they have to meet for different use cases, and each component has its own manufacturing and distribution costs. Consoles are built by one company, and often sold at a loss to promote the sale of software
So a 60% bump in GPU prices AGAIN is not controvery worthy? I personally think it dopes and I really hope AMD comes uip on top this time around because Nvidia needs to get back down a little.

Most of the BS with GPU prices in the last 5-7 years is all thanks to the fu@$ing bitcoin miners buying up every bloody GPU on the planet as soon as they're available. The peregrine falcon, also known as the peregrine, and historically as the duck hawk (LOL c'mon America) in North America, is a cosmopolitan bird of prey in the family Falconidae. A large, crow-sized falcon, it has a blue-grey back, barred white underparts, and a black head. Speed: 390 km/h (Maximum, Diving) Wingspan: 74 - 120 cm (Adult) Clutch size: 3 - 4 Conservation status: Least Concern (Population stable) Mass: 0.7 - 1.5 kg (Female, Adult), 0.33 - 1 kg (Male, Adult) Scientific name: Falco peregrinus Length: 34 - 58 cm (Adult) The peregrine falcon is a symbol of aspiration, ambition, power, speed, and freedom. They offer protection to you as a spirit animal, especially during transitional periods. Those who have peregrine falcons as their spirit animal are attentive, perceptive, and have a strong sense of purpose. Now you know why 😁

The big collection of videogames should be bought by a museum for preservation.
That last story was pretty obviously talking about the stupid direction GPU prices have gone (and continue to go looking at the 40 series), and not the inherent differences between console and PC which are well understood. Building a good gaming PC simply DID NOT cost double the price of a console few years back and that's what he's pointing out as "unfair"
In my experience when I was a kid we only wanted cross play really bad so that we could play with people who had playstations (we had 360's). It just sucked because there was always those few friends who had the other console and never got to play. I know it't the same concerning PC but I feel like PC's weren't as big back then or just a lot of kids didn't have them back then or something. But being able to remove PC from crossplay on a console makes sense to me. If you worry about m+k players and hackers and what not it makes sense, and you still get put in with Xbox so not too bad honestly. I don't understand why that would be seen as a negative thing.

The art (or "graphics") for a game take a huge amount of time and effort to make, and goes through multiple phases and passes. At most game studios, the art teams will work in parallel with all of the other teams (code, design, sound, QA, etc.) during production, And they pretty much all keep working on the game until right before it launches. So a game isn't going to look finished, until it practically is finished.
Been playing Star Citizen for over a year now. At first it's overwhelming because holy shit it's huge and there's so much to explore and do. The more you play the more you see where that funding has gone.

Where #1 is concerned, it's also really important to point out that consoles are sold at a loss, or to put another way the price YOU pay for a console is less than the COST to the manufacturer. Most PC related hardware is going to be running anywhere from 20-40% profit margin. If Playstation and Xbox did this, new consoles would easily be 700+ USD$ from day 1.
