Great as always. Just a consideration. If you are using upgraded/strengthened axles or drive shafts, all you are doing is transferring the weakest point somewhere else in the driveline and usually to a less accessible/costly location (diff centres, transfer/gearbox). For example; it may be preferable to have an axle go, rather than a diff centre (axles can be like fuses for a driveline, sacrificial).

You're not "transferring" the spot. All twisting/binding forces will be the same everywhere as long as the stronger replacements function the same way as the old ones. If they can take those forces before they will take them still just the same. It's just that those more robust replacements aren't the ones that failed first this time.
combining my weekly 4x4 explorations with your tips makes me feel like I've learned 5 years of skills in under 12 months of offroading this stuff keeps me and my family safe, happy and having fun so lucky we have you Ronny :)
A common failure I see in drivelines, in Canada, is lack of diff breather service. (Snow, ice, salt, mud) People overlook this all the time. $11 part could save thousands of dollars down the road. Found water in many a rear diff. Really like your videos. Keep them coming!

I didnt think id see you here Jason. I learned alot here today its very informative.
I never thought about the stress on the diff gears while reversing :o I got learnt today!
That intro shot from under the truck was awesome!
In regards to strengthened aftermarket parts, be aware, that you are likely transferring the breaking load from the part, which would otherwise fail to another part. You can almost consider some parts as mechanical fuses, like CV Joints. A Broken CV is better than a broken Transmission. Just consider the other parts of the driveline when upgrading and what may become the weak point once you upgrade something else.
I have been off roading for 30+ years in Civ and Mil, and still learned a few things here! Great Vid!
Hello Ronny - one of the best off road videos on you tube, thanks

Plenty of great little 1%er points in this video mate, I've saved it as I know I'll be watching it again sometime to reference a few points from it 👍
Hey Ronny, you've hit that nail right on the head. I agree with you 100%. Particularly reverse recovery and cv/u-joints in full lock. I have been asked countless times why I always turn around before pulling anyone. Simply because of the cut of the teeth and also position of the pinion in regards to the diff. In my case forward is stronger. Also as other mention here, keeping that weight down helps quite a bit to fight premature wear and unnecessary damage. I have put quite a bit of steel on my rig, but I always considere thickness of my materials. Not every skid or armor needs to be 10mm thick. And also, when wheeling, I always carry only the absolutely necessary things with me, like recovery gear, spare wheel, basic tools. I don't really do overlanding so I keep to minimum. Love your channel, greetings from far overseas. Martin
This is going in favorites. I’ll rewatch every trip as a reminder. Best info in a while Ron. Fantastic, Thanks
Absolutely loving your videos Ronny. A suggestion I have is top 10 vehicle modifications to avoid vehicle damage or getting stuck. (In order of what you believe should be a priority after purchasing a 4wd)

Thanks for all the advice. I love your videos. I’ve been into 2wd cars and recently got my first 4x4. I’m still getting it road ready, but when I finally get to take it off road, I’ll be better prepared thanks to you.

WeBePwning No it's not. Never pull in reverse unless you have to.
Thanks Ronny, for your informative videos.
Good solid advice. Thanks for posting
Hi Ronny In most ways I am pretty new to 4wd. I have started to build a modified vehicle, starting from next to no knowledge & you videos have been a great addition of wisdom for my starting out driving 4wding & so to my research (hopefully) into how best to put together a balanced set up that suite my situation & where I am @ in my learning curve. Thank you. You share some really good information, substance over fashion.
Ronny mate Real talk....you make this drab life worth living mate !
I have never been real off roading, but learned a lot! This will help even me.
I thought I new it all after 30 yrs of off-roading but I learned a thing or two. Thanks for a great video.
Ronny, THAT was brilliant!
Great video bud! I am paying particular attention to the CV advice, one of my biggest fears with my new Hilux... But I think there is some good advice here to keep me safe! But spares will be carried!
Very informative as your work is always good, special thanks Ronny for this great effort, soaking in winter rains always give me a cold hope you survived well. Keep up the good work.
I’m new to off roading. Thank you for all this great information
I'm new to four wheeling and enjoy the wealth of information you provide. From Vallejo, California. Thank you!!
always, always learn something new! Keep up the great content Ronny!
Sweet rig Ronny!
Great video mate, thanks. Just getting into 4wd and yet to do my first trip so this is very good advice - much appreciated.
Great job Ronny!
Great video mate!, very clear, and direct to the point. Thanks for sharing
Great tips mate
Another way to weaken the driveline is bigger tires. With bigger tires comes a longer leverage. Your Chanel is awesome Ronny. It didn't take long to become a patreon of yours.
Great video mate!
Brilliant info Ronnie. Thank you 🚙
Great content Ronny, things we always need reminding of.
Very good explanation
Good one Ronny
cheers Ronny, really helpful advice.,
Hey Ronni thanks for those good tips.
Hi Ronny great video thanks for these tips 👍👍👍
Very useful and great information
Outstanding information
very useful Info for a newbie like myself. thanks mate.
Thanks for the vid Ronny. A tip on releasing diff wind up, is to drive in reverse on a loose surface. Thanks again Mick

I just made a comment on that too, lol. That's what my grandpa always said. He learned that from the construction industry. It's genuine info though and I noticed it does work.
Great vid Ronny.... lotta good lessons n messages there... well done on these easy to forget mistakes which can and are often made...
Love your videos. Thanks for sharing your experience.
As always great video and thank you for sharing
Great video, lots of info and all so well explained and evidenced. Thanks.
What a resource your videos are Ronny. The points you made about reversing were something I never would have thought of. Would have easily tried to snatch a vehicle out in reverse had I not seen this.
Thanks for the reverse advice
Did #5 lately ;-) hope to avoid the others.... very well put together! Thanx Axel
I love ALL your videos!
Thank you for sharing your wisdom, xxx
The problem with adding a more durable part is that it may transfer the force to a more expensive part to repair. Breaking a drive shaft is probably a lot cheaper and easier to repair than breaking a gear in the transfer case or differential because you added a really strong drive shaft.
What a nice video. Great real life examples and clips to accompany each point.
hi Ronny this is a very useful and helpful video many thanks to you dear AWESOME 👍🏻
sick tips ron
Learned a lot Ronny! Totally didnt even think of the recovering in reverse! Thank you! I will definitely not do that now haha
great to watch and learn few things... thanks !
U are the most watched channel, keep making the good stuff
Awesome video. When I was a kid my dad had a Chevy S-10 with a 4" lift. They said he was breaking CV's because the winch and bumper/brush guard was to heavy in front, but now I see it probably had a lot to do with that lift kit as well. Thanks for bringing all your personal knowledge to the 4 wheel community.
@philtripe

the lift probably had everything to do with blowing CV's after all they do put V8's in those things and have no more problems with than normal which is alot i know, i had one that i put a V8 into and regret selling
Great information. And I love the license tag!!
Great video, thank you.
Wow, that stuff actually seems to make sense! Thank you.
Hey Ronnie, Steve here from SA...a great way to release the tension built up in the driveline s, as you mentioned, slow down, preferably onto a soft surface, select reverse gear and reverse a short distance. This will unwind the tension and you will be able to move the 4WD select lever easily from 4 to 2. The more the tension the longer you will have to reverse, but in general it usually takes me about 10m. Cheers mate.
Great videos Sir!! I pick up my new Grenadier here in Sydney tomorrow and these videos have helped lots especially the diffs etc.
Ronny, thanks for the info👍
Very useful thank you!
Extremely useful informations. Thank you.
Great info and video ! Cheers ! 👍
Very helpful and noted!
Really enjoying your videos! Thank you from the U.S.
Good video mate very logical to the point
Great little video mate, nice work
Bloody awesome video matey, also love your channel.
Thanks Ronny when my dear old Colorado swaps out of high range 4x4 to 2wd I engage neutral gear and let the vehicle roll slowly backwards as I push the button on the dash. It seems to help it disengage with out fuss thanks for the great content re CV joints.
Really great Tips, Definetely Enjoyed this Vid. Another way i was told to get rid of Transmission winding is reversing. cheers Ron.
Best video for the offroaders! Keep it up man! You have always massive informations 😍
Really good info in this one. I am sure most of us learnt something.
