Jennifer, I came across this lovely reading this morning and thought of what you said about praying....I thought you might enjoy this. In to Thy silent place of prayer, the anxious, wandering mind recall--- Dwell mid Thy own creation there, Restoring, calming, hallowing all. Then the calm spirit, won from sin, Thy perfect sacrifice shall be, And all the ransomed powers therein Shall go forth, glorifying Thee... Anna L. Waring

My husband has in past years in our 47 yrs of marriage there were weeks and months of 80+ hrs/week working in our company..many nights we're battle grounds between a weary mum and 3 lovely children who missed their dad and were growing independently, as they should...when things would get especially tempestuous, I did 3 things 1 Hit a dark corner for 10 seconds and cry out Lord, it just you and me and the 3 you gave me, I need you to show up...then I would look the particularly quarrelsome little in the eye and complete focus on them and whisper not just quietly but whisper......while they were still puzzled I would light a candle and turn down the lights.....here we are decades later and I see my adult children employing some of my desperate actions in an attempt to be calm and yes classy. So thank you for finding solutions that may help other harried parents out there.

Hello from France! Words of wisdom here indeed. You are so right! Just a little correction on pronunciation - Noblesse oblige is pronounced as 'obleej' and not oblijay' The is no accent on the e of oblige. Thanks, as ever, for the wonderful content.

💛 I really needed these reminders. I am fairly good at # 1, having started doing that when I was a teenager, but the others I need to work on. Especially in a time when rudeness and crass/reactive behavior is almost celebrated, let us press forwards with dignity and grace, and try to take the high road. I’m not kidding when I say I try to use these techniques as a mom, amidst difficult days with kids when it’s so much easier to yell… That “nobless oblige” is also quite profound if you apply it to a mother/child circumstance. 🥺 are we not adults who are to show restraint amidst difficulty with children? We have higher, more rational brain capacity. We are “privileged” compared to little children who are still grasping this. This is truly something to reflect upon.

Wonderful tips as always, Jennifer. A few of them made me think of the recent lessons in my homeschool. My daughter has been learning about the Civil rights movement, and yesterday we read The Story of Ruby Bridges. What a remarkable little girl, to face angry mobs of people every day to and from school, and what did she do? She prayed for them, every day. We were so very moved by her story.

I had someone tell me about lowering your voice in confrontation because that makes the other person quiet down too because they can't hear what your saying if they are being loud. Both of these things work very effectively as I have been trying them out and it has been working.🙏🌍🙏🌎🙏🌏

Great tips, Jennifer, and really helpful! The one tip I prefer is the last one: pray. When I feel anger or frustration building up, praying is the one thing I automatically do. It’s not a long prayer, because in those heated moments, a short one is the only thing I’m able to do! It usually consists of asking God for his help! He always responds, but I must say that I’m not always able to listen!!!! That’s why I find all your tips so helpful and will use them for sure! Thank you for bringing grace, good manners and elegance to our world! I appreciate it so much!

As a French I'd like to say that the pronunciation of "noblesse oblige" is "no-bless ob-leej". After the letter g, there is no sound as the "e" is mute. A bit like in the word garage (US pronunciation). kzread.info/dash/bejne/haObx5Vymq6wg9o.html I personally do not use this expression in relation to me, as I feel it might sound rather snobbish and superior, possibly ironical and as if I'd be looking down on others. But of course, it depends on the context and how it's said.

Thank you for this edifying video. You have evidently figured out that "noblesse oblige" (note: the E at the end of "oblige" is silent) means "nobility obliges". This seems to be a short expression of the Scriptural principle "To whom much has been given, from them shall much be required." (Luke 12:48) A timely and timeless reminder. Thank you again and God bless you!

Dear Jennifer, I love #9 (Smile) & #10 (Pray) these ALWAYS work for me. I use the smile technique with my son, it always works.

Excellent advice! Thank you. Someone commented that they wish these ideas were on a printable. You're so creative, I bet you could create a beautiful journal around these idea. I would buy it.

This was excellent. Thanks so much for the tips and encouragement, Jennifer - your calm demeanor and loveliness are in such short supply these days, and I'm too often tempted to go the way of the rest of the world when my emotions run hot. Cheers to being ABOVE average!

Thank you for sharing! I recently have been in some tense situations with a grieving friend of mine, and it is difficult to know what to do in the moment. Pausing, praying, and trying to put myself in her shoes has been my attempt to create some calm in a heated moment.

I so wish you would write a book on this subject and on how to deal with the rude behavior of others and live our best lives. Number 6 is fantastic. This was an excellent video! Thank you!
