    With vegan food, I feel like there is more variety than when I ate meat. I've learned about so many different vegetables and beans that I would never have discovered if I kept eating meat.

    You are just so very beautiful inside and out! I have been vegan for 7 years and am heslthier than ever at 79. No meds! But I did have to cut out all processed foods such as Oreos and fake meats and cheeses. Whole foods and no added oils did it for me! Carry on and continue making wonderful videos, books, and recipes! ❤️❤️👍👍

    Sadie DeSimone Pure, Organic, Unrefined, Cold Pressed, Virgin, Coconut Oil, is my substitute for butter & as a creamer, too! Now, I've just shared a post where the findings are showing the use of coconut oil has effected a reverse in Alzheimer's disease! The benefits are many & varied. We all need healthy fats, especially for our heart, brain, & skin health. I sincerely hope you'll consider looking into this issue. I, like you, am 70 with no health issues nor any meds (no drs since 1969).

    You're right! She is a great person inside and out. You are too as it shows in your generous expression. I will be 71 in Dec and have been 100% vegan (whole food) with very minimal refined foods for almost 10 years. I am very active with perfect health. I am glad we all took one of the most important decisions in our lives. I wish others will be enlightened before it is too late.

    When I first went vegetarian in my teens I felt like my meals were always missing something taste wise and I was always hungry. (I just took meat out of my meals my family prepared for me and was left with nothing) I gave up after a few years and I was severely underweight and often blacking out. I was omitted to hospital. I returned to healthy weight after going back to meat and a "healthy" diet. Recently I had major skin problems and was told to cut out dairy, so I began researching vegan cheese substitutes (since I can't cut out cheese!) and I found this channel, did a little more research on animal farming and decided I wanted to go vegan. I was having the same issues with my meals missing something and being hungry at first, but I've been watching a lot of your videos and I've learned so much about other health foods I've never heard of and how to prepare vegan meals. I've learned personally, I need at least one meal a day with whole grains- also adding eggplant, mushroom, tofu , beans, potato or sweet potato to a meal in replacement of meat is key to killing that that "missing something" feeling. I'm eating more vegetables than I have ever done so in my life and I feel great! :) thank you so much for making this incredible channel! It has changed my life because I've always wanted to go cruelty free but I have a very fast metabolism and couldn't have figured out how to keep it going without you!

    Elle r, I know this reply is two years late, but for the benefit of others that are in your situation, I’d like to comment. You must eat complex carbohydrates with your vegetables. This is discussed by John McDougall, MD, in his book “ The Starch Solution” and other whole food plant based doctors and nutrition experts. Complex carbohydrates are potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams, rice, whole grains, beans, corn, and legumes. Dr. McDougall suggests a 50/50 plate, half vegetables and half complex carbohydrates. This does not include simple carbohydrates like cakes cookies, milk, candy, potato chips, fries-you know junk. Carbs are our friend, it will not make you fat nor increase your blood sugar, it’s the junk we put on complex carbs that messes up our body, i.e., sugar, oil, salt, preservatives, and synthetic foods. I also suggest checking out the KZread channel Chef AJ, she is a vegan chef who cooks salt, oil, sugar, and flour free. She had a weight problem, although vegan (called herself a junk food vegan), but learned about how to eat a healthy vegan diet. Me? I just started a month in a half ago, and I don’t get hungry because I eat starch with my meals. I’m surprised how easy the transition has been, but it’s the carbs that helps me feel full, satisfied, and not deprived.

    Your bonus tip is so true. I revisit my WHY quite often. Being the only vegan in your household, or community can be really difficult. So it's great to keep reminding yourself of your WHY.

    “The life is in the blood” so many of us inherently know we should not eat the blood. Eating another 3D sentient creation’s blood/genetic code ends their life path for negative polarity (service-to-self)/selfish reasons. In this current 3D world, we are encouraged to eat meat, even rare, bloody meat, as “normal behavior” because this dimension is led by a Prince of Darkness who is of negative polarity, so if you choose not to follow the teachings of this world you will raise your vibration and will ascend in your next incarnation/ life cycle to a dimension where the animals are not consumed/eaten.

    my vegan hack- fried rice! having a nice basmati/jasmine rice made can last up to 5 days in the fridge , and you can change it up almost everyday by adding something different and frying it. Black beans,chopped tomatoes and veggies, sprouts,greens, vegan cheeses.....there is no end! good for people with limited time. I love this vid,you are adorable!

    I'm having a difficult time sticking to a vegan diet in Japan. Things such as legumes and quinoa are extremely expensive here. Veggies and fruit can be pricey as well, so we are trying to start a small garden. Lovely videos btw!

    I wonder if you can find out what they are eating in the local Buddhist monasteries? I don't know if all their food is donated, but learning what they are eating might help you learn local vegan dishes.

    If you can’t find quinoa I’m wondering if you can substitute brown rice. If you can get black (forbidden) rice it is the most nutritious rice. Also look for adzuki beans. And natto! - fermented soy beans. Stay Vegan 🌱💚

    Recently learnt to cut up & freeze my vegetables just before they're about to go bad, then like you said put it in soups, or quesadillas, on pizzas, & in stirfrys! Saved so much food from being wasted like this. It's nice when you're lazy after a long day to have those pre cut ready-to-go vegetables. Love your channel by the way. Thanks for all you do ❤

    I'm just gotten into the habit of batch cooking. I make several servings of stuff while the ingredients are fresh and then freeze the leftovers. Then I just pull them out to thaw right before I eat. Nothing gets wasted and I never have to worry about cooking or running the store after work.

    I'm not a vegan but I eat a mostly vegan diet because i's environmentally sustainable. Eating organisms at lower trophic levels takes way less energy to produce, so it lowers your carbon footprint.

    To add on to tip #1 if you don't have a foamer like in your video you can use a mason jar. Every morning I but my coffee and almond milk in a mason jar and shake it up. It creates amazing foam! And you don't need to go buy another appliance 😊

    Hack: 1 tablespoon of flax seeds and 3 tablespoons of water to replace eggs when I’m baking.

    @@MsZephyra I always grind flax seed (I've been vegan for 37 years) - I've read that unground flax can't be used efficiently by the body and is usually eliminated.

    I’ll say that any vegan can agree that avocados and nutritional yeast magically transform ANY meal! I love buying beans in bulk and whipping up a large batch of cooked pinto or black beans every week. And I wish more people knew about kabocha squash! It’s my favorite pumpkin of all time since it’s delicious and perfect for meal prep!

    How did I became sensitive to avocados? I’ve ate some pretty bad ones here in NY. In Jamaica , it was a staple and I ate it with almost every meal. Now the thought of eating it brings back the feeling of feeling nauseous

    Short Zumba Workouts With Camille Beets juices with milk, omg. I use to love it. I haven’t learnt to make it though. Avocado , yuck. I’m either sensitive, allergic or have eaten spoiled avocado three times back to back,

    I am so glad I ran across your page. My women’s group at church is doing a 30 day plant based challenge and we are on our 3rd week and I am living it.     If you bake/roast foods without oil, I would recommend using a silicone baking sheet to make your life easier! Also, an oil spray is really helpful for reducing the amount of oil you use significantly, whilst still achieving a crispy texture to your food.

    I would like to add the easiest thing for me going vegan was getting an instant pot, I love to soak a package of pinto beans overnight and then cook them in the pot with a quart of vegetable broth onions and garlic and spices. So delicious and it last for many meals!

    @@jackibrolhorst100 Cumin is a must. Paprika. Onion powder. Garlic powder. Oregano. Any chili/pepper powder blends. Cumin seeds. Fresh Cilantro. Dried rosemary carries the most flavor compared to other dried herbs.

    I always buy a huge variety of dried beans. Once a week I soak 5 or 6 different beans overnight, the next day I cook them (all separately), freeze them on cookie sheets so they don't clump together. When frozen, I put them in one large bag, or some jars and voila I always have a wonderful supply of nutrient rich food in my freezer that I add to every meal.

    This is so fantastic! From my experience been 12 years vegetarian going vegan now I see that in the beginning you feel that you are empty after eating, you feel lighter and think "Im still hungry", but the thing is that on a "non-animal" diet your body process food faster and, if you do it right, with all the nutritions, and it doesn´t mean you are actually hungry but is just this non heavy feeling we are so use to with meat, which take so much time to process to our stomach that we think this is the right feeling. The meat end up even waisted inside us, make us feel so much full and heavy, and yes, not hungry at all, but for the wrong reasons!

    I’ve been vegan for almost seven years. In the past year or so, I’ve watched this video three times and incorporated new things into my life each time - the paper towels in the bag with the greens, buying whole flax seeds and grinding them myself, pressing mushrooms as they cook are three new things I now do.     I soak cashews and walnuts. Then blitz them in a blender . Then strain them with tofu cloth . Thats my milk . And its a bazillion times better then store bought. Less expensive to. Only make a Quart and a half at a time bc if u let it sit too long in the fridge , it gets this weird slimy consistency. I put a little vanilka and almond extract for taste, and half of a 1/4 cup of sugar. If u put a quarter cup its more like a dessert drink. So yummy either way. Ty

    @@ivybelle3337 Much better than using sugar. In my almond milk I use two or three medjool dates. Expensive but oh so good. I also use medjool dates in my smoothies.

    Meal planning has been super helpful for me, and Pinterest helped me to do that. My grocery bill was cut in half doing this, so being vegan has helped me save money. This, of course, only helps if you stick to the meal plan. That way, you don’t waste food, which means you aren’t wasting money. Another thing I can suggest is to save your veg scraps and make veg broth with them. What’s kind of cool about this is that it will taste differently every time you make it. I will say this though: if you like the way it tastes a certain time, take note of what you used!

    My tip is that I always keep my kitchen super stocked with non-perishables; dried quinoa, dried beans (and cans of beans for when I feel lazy), whole grain pasta, canned diced tomatoes/tomato paste, lost of frozen veggies like she said, etc. Then the only things I have to buy on a weekly basis is the fresh produce, and if I'm too lazy to shop or do a ton of time consuming recipes, I always have the opportunity to cook something healthy and quick with what I have!

I have eaten Meat my whole life, and couldn’t have a single meal without it, I’ve noticed over the past couple of months that after eating it my stomach wouldn’t feel good throughout the night and I also started getting headaches more often that would last for a whole day.. I knew it was how I was eating so I cut waaay down on sugar and junkfood, but still had the same symptoms so as of a week ago for the first time in my life, I have actually gone without having meat for breakfast and then lunch as well, YaaaaY!!! today is the day I’m cutting out meat all together, God Help Me!!!! your vlog is really encouraging and now I don’t feel so scared about everything 😀👍🏽 Thank You for sharing your journey and knowledge as someone who has no idea what’s ahead of me on my journey having KZread to turn to is helping me a lot!!!     I think it makes it a lot easier to slowly phase out animal products. I became pescetarian simply because I didn't like any other meat. But then fish started to kind of disgust me too, and now eggs, milk and cheese are starting to not look so appealing either. And vegan recipes are so colourful and fun!

    @Sofía Jiménez First of all, unless you want to gain weight/bulk up, a nutritionist advising to drink your calories sounds weird to me.. And btw a good way to make creamy fruit smoothies is blending silken tofu, berries/fruit and plant milk (to taste depending on consistency), adds a lot of protein and tastes so much better than any protein powder I've tried.

    I love these hacks! I have 2 that help me a ton. Batch cook beans, rice, quinoa and throw in the freezer in single portions (except the beans which I freeze in can portions). And second, meal prep. Saves me time, money and most importantly, my health because I'm not reaching for the quick convenient vegan junk foods.

    I work nights and my instapot is my absolute best friend! When I come home from work I can just ladle out a nice bowl of stew (my favorite is red lentil sweet potato with kale and coconut milk). So happy that KZread and wonderful vegans like you are here for us!

    Great tips. For keeping greens fresh, fenugreek seed in the container helps, or packing them tightly in jars too. So true, frozen veggies and fruit are the best backups.

    My tip is to enjoy the farmers markets or even the grocery store produce section. I actually get excited when I see beautiful fruits and veggies lol. I didn’t know that about the flax seed. I’ve been vegan for 4 months and the fake meats have made my transition so much easier! I agree with number 10. When I started my vegan journey I felt hungry and then I decided big portions of whole foods was fine. I watch what processed food I eat but any whole food is free game and I’ve lost weight!

    Jenné thanks for these super hacks! So much good info to share with friends that are thinking on going vegan. I’m amazed about all the “gadgets” you use in order to reuse plastic or to not use bags that are meant to be used only one time. Hope this makes sense... I would love to see a video from you where you show us all the different things you use as for example the bags you use to save veggies for later, you supermarket reusable bags for fruits and vetgetables, etc. And may be what they are called and where we can buy them. Lots of ❤️

    Bless your heart. One of my favorite recent hacks is to soak my brown rice overnight with a little vinegar and cook it up the next day. It is so much easier to digest, much sweeter and nuttier and just so delicious. Another is to use dampened cloth bags (It took no time to sew up a few out of light cotton muslin) to store produce in the fridge. As long as they stay damp the produce lasts a lot longer without the nastiness of plastic.

    I hopped on the oat milk train recently and it's so good in coffee. I found it at Target too. I used to love eggs... Now I'm addicted to tofu scramble instead... Add all the veggies, avocado, ezekial bread. I eat it everyday lol

    That's okay! Just soak your oats beforehand and blend a little longer. You'll strain it anyway, so it shouldn't matter. My main tip is to let it refrigerate overnight before doing more than tasting it- it makes all the difference for consistency!

    When I started my vegan diet on the 1st of Jan this year, the first few days, maybe 5, I was SO HUNGRY, so I started snacking on things like houmous and nuts (fat and protein) but then I suddenly was SO FULL. Way more full than when I was a vegetarian or even when I ate meat. So now I'm pretty much not hungry at all between meals. I'm really enjoying it. These are great tips for a new vegan! Thank you!

    Someone shared this tip with me once and it was such a big help! When buying all-natural nut or seed butters where the oil separates, if you just throw the whole jar into a food processor or blender and then put it back in the jar and store it in the fridge, it keeps it from re-separating very nicely! You may just need to take some of the thicker ones out a few minutes before using.

    Great tips, but man, did I need to hear the last one! Thank you so much for sharing! My best tip is to plan & prepare for only a few days ahead. I work 2 -3 days, then have 2 - 3 days off, so if I plan & prepare for that, it doesn't seem so overwhelming a task. ("wow, only have 3 days to prep for" as opposed to "OMG! 7 days to prep!")

I'm not eating as well as I should and have gained weight as a consequence. My son isnt vegan so I tend to put my focus on his food.     Smurph I've been eating healthier and have a teenage boy. I find I can make a meal and add meat for him, but keep it cleaner for me. You could probably do tacos, spaghetti, burgers, meatloaf, can be altered easily, to seem similar or have a meatless version.

    Hey! You're doing good, mama! Some helpful tips I've found just from watching too many dang KZread videos (lol), and hopefully they help and aren't obnoxious/unasked for. ; ) 1. Don't tell your kids when something is vegetarian, or vegan, or healthy if that is something that triggers their "no" response. 2. If your child is old enough, they can help prepare family/their own meals, which really allows them to feel pride in the meal that is put on the table (even toddlers can help put things into bowls, and having them announce at dinner what you are having- the grander the explanation the better!- even if it's just for two, is fun) which leads to --> 3. Have your kid help you pick what to cook, not necessarily the whole dish, but, "should I use carrots or corn.. what do you think sounds good?" It'll make 'em more likely to eat what you make. 4. A small (or large!) garden helps teach pride in food at any age. There's nothing like picking fresh fruit or herbs, still warm from the sun and just eating them. (Carrots are fun!) Even just a few potted plants on a apartment balcony is enough to get that excitement going. (And a basil plant will help you with that pesto availability issue!) And THEY did it! 5. Don't try to make your healthful/vegan dish EXACTLY like their favorite dish, it will only invite comparison. If you make pizza, and their favorite is pepperoni, don't expect them to like daiya "cheese" and fake pepperoni because it wont necessarily live up to the original (some like it though!). Instead, try seeing if they like a pesto pizza with tomatoes, or an olive oil/ garlic "sauce" with toasted almonds and mushrooms or peppers 6. While preparing a particular vegetable or fruit, tell them what vitamins they have, and how it helps with their sight, or to make muscles, or your hair shiny. Seeing a food as something that nourishes their bodies, instead of just the yummy thing you shovel into your face to make your stomach stop complaining, will give them great insight into they WHY's of why we eat. 7. Sometimes kids are just in a picky phase. In that case, have a laugh once they're out of earshot, make some banana "nice" cream, and go easy on yourself! Hang in there!

    My biggest tip is if you want to save money to plan out your meals and shop in season. I sit at the beginning of the week and think about my budget and how many meals I have to make. If you keep your pantry stocked with staples (Canned/dried beans, quinoa, rice and pastas) when you're feeling lazy or tired you can throw things together and create a simple yet nutritious meal. OH and one last thing lol You can freeze rice and quinoa easily and they thaw pretty quick. I cook bigger batches of rice and quinoa than I need and freeze half. So on weeks when I have little time that part is already done so I just have to add a can of beans, sauteed veggies and I'm good to go.

    My hack is to grind my own gluten free flours. I grind chickpeas and oats. Buy in bulk and grind. Much less expensive. Also, when stocking up on frozen fruits and veggies make sure there are no Preservatives or sauces. Get them just plain. Great video! You are glowing!

    My veggie "hack" is using the pressure cooker and freezer as a team. Cook beans and squash or make a chilli using the pressure cooker and then freeze in portion-sized plastic bags.

    I gave up coffee when I became vegan because I did not like any of the vegan creamers...then I came across Trader Joe's Soy Creamer. It is so deliciously good that I even travel with it! I highly recommend it to people who are having a hard time finding a creamer they like...and even to those who think they found a creamer they like!

    Definitely going to try all of these!! My husband and I have been vegan for 2 years!🎉We love it! The best part about it is we can cook together! Mixing and creating meals😍 I love the spicy chicken Boca, (the "beef" Boca's are not vegan) but we'll fry those up in vegan butter, sautee onion rings, mushrooms, black beans and spinach and add your fave seasonings we use Lite salt, black pepp, garlic powder, nutritional yeast, paprika, and lite crushed pepp. Toast 100% wheat bread, slice up some tomato and avacado. use vegan mayo place patty down add the mixture, tomatoes, avacado and ketchup, mustard if you like. We Love this!!! so fulfilling, feels like a restaurant chicken sandwich!

    I think they are loc extensions. She had new growth in some of her clips. But when she's talking her hair looks like she her roots twisted.. They are gorgeous!

    I’ve was a vegetarian for years, until I recently met a “bad” vegetarian. I started eating meat again. Your videos always help bring me back to ratings cleaner diet without animal products. Thanks for helping me set my intentions!

    You can even make banana ice cream on the go, I made a video about it 😊 great collection of hacks, frozen raspberry is my favourite to have on hand all year round 🌸🌻🍁🌲 and YES buy flax in bulk and ground your own, cheaper and healthier! Ill have to try vinegar in baking, i thought it would ruin in the flavour. Ive got a banana bread recipe coming and I swapped the baking powder for blackstrap molasses, came out pretty good. Love your style sweet potatoe x

    Raw Lion I've seen banana ice cream recipes but I haven't tried any because I worry that they will all taste like banana, which isn't my favorite flavor. It's so strong I feel like it will take over the flavor of whatever I put in it.

    @@jossynda The banana tastes different when it's frozen. It's hard to explain but it loses some of it's punch. My husband HATES bananas and I can't even get him to try the banana ice cream but he loves mango icecream. You make it exactly the same way but it tastes less like an icecream and more like an italian ice.

    I’ve been trying to swap in blackstrap molasses for sugar in everything like my milkshakes, smoothies, nice cream, oatmeal, and one time in baking. How did it turn out for you??? I’m curious why swap out the baking powder though, why not both? Like what is it about baking powder that the molasses is replacing for you?

    Good hacks for everyone, especially the less experienced vegans. Just one important thing I'd like to comment on: flax / linseeds have very vulnerable oils (vulnerable to heat, light and oxygen), which makes them go rancid very quickly when ground, and so can do you a bit more harm than good if that happens. To avoid it, after grinding them, it's best to store in the fridge, even better in a dark glass jar, but better still, if you can keep the *whole* seeds in the fridge and grind them as needed, unless you find it too much of a pain in the arse, in which case do grind the pack but DO keeo them in the fridge! 😊
