I have to switch to super shotgun and after that to ballista to quick switch them. I like it way better that it give you time to think. I have no game in my collection what I completed the hardest difficulty on. Only Doom 2016 and Eternal. (the DLCs too but that shit was way more insane with the powered demons. Especially the possessed Tyrant and Marauder when the spirit came in.)

The Quake Player one is absolutely true.

I use Chaingun frequently on Marauders since there are many sections especially on TAG1 and TAG2 and Master Levels where the chances of getting into a standard 1v1 Marauder fight is slim to nonexistent. Chaingun blocks all incoming damage from the other 27 sources, meanwhile I can still drop grenades and dash and smash others (and sometimes even the Marauder).

They added that recently. Check controller settings once more.

As a console player, it was really satisfying learning where all the weapons are on the hotwheel so I didn’t even have to look to switch weapons effectively. (Of course after days of sitting on the hotwheel for minutes at a time)

Same As console gamer, i know this problem.

As a console player I can confirm how long I spent in the radial menu, and than I moved to pc and learned how much I hate hotkeys, and then I learned how to just hit a direction and tap the bumper to switch and immediately know what I’m grabbing, Seriously I don’t like hotkeys.

I think it's actually better to use a modified control layout for pc. I have short finger and even hitting the 5 key is a chore for switching weapons very quickly. so it's better to use esdf or rdfg to have the hotkeys all around your movement keys

I'm a console player and I can switch weapons in the weapon wheel almost as fast as PC. The way I do it is just don't look at the wheel while changing and let muscle memory for each weapon take effect. Really useful strat

Using the weaponwheel with controller is pretty easy and fast imo But even switching only between two weapons is still fine though.

I can confirm the console player part, every single encounter with that demon was a pain in the ass

Best thing about the weapon wheel is that if you use it correctly you can predict the enemies movement or just do it to get a little break

I'm definitely a Console Guy. With two differences. 1. I'm more often than not out of imminent danger when the Weapon Wheel is up. 2. Sometimes, my Pro Controller's Right Stick gives me the weapon I *DON'T* want.

I remenber the first time that my father play doom eternal he was playing like doom 2 after 2 months he passed the campaign like 10 times in the hardest dificulty and he destroys me in every game after playing doom eternal.

The quake pro is literally me.

As a console player myself I can confirm that I do have a habit of slowing time to choose a gun and analyze my surroundings but after I choose a gun I don't just stand there and try to get the perfect shot.
