I try to be fast and nice as a cashier! Yes, you have to be friendly but customers also don't want to be there waiting all day!

I'm more of a silent one but fast because I know people dont want to be there at the store especially now. I haven't gotten any complaints but have gotten tons of compliments with my speed. It also depends heavily on my mood. If I'm in a good mood I can bangout 32 ipms and hold good conversations but it's all about the people around me and what time I work

I'm the speedy one, everyone is is better at customer service then me but I get people in and out as fast as possible

I'm a friendly cashier in supermarket. I try to be fast but not to be too silent so I'll try talk to my costumers too but if im sad I'll talk less and might do the job more faster or slower it really depends

They say that the cashiers is the only position in the store that has direct contact with customers.

I don’t work at a supermarket, food court actually, but I’m a good mix of the talkative and detective cashiers. You missed the silent one!

When I was a Cashier 8 years ago then I was the fast silent one and sometimes the organizer when I had to pack reusable bags. Was also the silent judgmental one especially when someone bought a lot of junk food and that was usually someone who didn't need the junk food by looking at them.

Haha, so true! I'm the speedy, silent one 😜. Not that I don't want to talk or joke around with anyone but.... From my experience, most people prefer the speedy silent ones or the speedy chatty ones.

To all people who work as cashiers. Avoid making unesessary comments on what customers purchase. Just ring up their stuff and be quiet.

ummm. I'm a very fast cashier, sometimes talkative. I hate to keep customers waiting. I'm also the organizer. bcuz I have certain areas where I like to keep certain items.

yep, they didn't care if we had our phone out to look up prices but others I knew played on their all day. They worked just enough to say they worked.

At my store, being on your phone will get you fired

The diva Everytime I go to Walmart here in Houston that's what I deal with black women who act like diva messing with their hair or nails

These jobs will be obsolete in the future when automatic robots take over. We already have self-checkout. The only reason we still have human cashiers because old boomers don't know how to work modern tech like that. I always use the self-checkout and never go through the normal checkouts!
