IMO, Billy was the most bad ass character. Knowing he was facing certain death, he goes out in the most warrior like way with nothing but his ridiculously huge knife. Definitely the boss.

It would have been "badass" if he believed he could kill it instead, which was not technically impossible. Instead he just peaced out. I don't think that's so badass.

One such document that peaks Skynet's interrst speaks of a soldier,, a lone survivor who's entire team was wiped out after they encountered an alien life form in the rainforest of South America. Skynet, being so impressed with rhis sole survivor's tenacity, cleverness and ingenuity decides to model the T101 in the likeness of this soldier who Skynet knows only as as Dutch.... let that marinate for a second....

I saw it as a kid, and the scene that gave me chills was where the Predator is seeing in infrared where they just were, and picks up that scorpion and crushes it in his hand while mimicing Macs voice and you see the heat signature from the Scorpion go black as it dies

Of all the "Predator" films, the first film will always be the best one. Arnold Schwarzenegger and company were such a badass group.

Predator is a true Sci-fi masterpiece and Classic 🙂. I was obsessed with the Predator movies as a teenager back then and it is one of my favorite Arnold movies 🙂. Alan Silvestris music score is so iconic 🙂. Stan Winstons Predator design is the most unique and awesome movie monster ever and its special effects 😁.

Darn rewrites. It would have been something to see Billy as the hero. The stigma about him being a tracker/hunter and battling an alien tracker/hunter, both having their own sets of fighting skills and ingenuity.

You forgot to say two things. First: Kevin Peter Hall played also the helicopter pilot in the end of the movie. Second: the Predator was voiced by Optimus Prime himself, Peter Cullen.

Definitely one of the most original films of the 80s. It had a fantastic film score, amazing visuals, a really interesting ensemble cast and some memorable dialogue ("There's something out there, and it ain't no man", "We a rescue team, not assassins" and "I ain't got time to bleed" being some of my favourite lines). In the mid 80s Arnie signed a three picture deal with 20th Century Fox and Predator was the last film in this deal (the other two being Commando and Raw Deal) Even now it's still quite a gruesome film but a very interesting and entertaining one. Also Kevin Peter Hall played two parts, not only was he the predator but also the helicopter pilot who picks up Dutch in the junge at the end of the fim.

I know that I'm late to this party, but I just wanted to mention that Kevin Peter Hall can be seen in Predator without the make-up on: he's the pilot of the helicopter that picks up Dutch at the end of the film.

I dig your *Predator* Christmas tradition, Minty! In our house, we always go with a more *traditional* Christmas movie: *Die Hard* 🎄

I've always liked predator because one of the strongest men alive (Arnold Schwarzenegger) was 1 move away from being killed by something 10x as strong as him; without his avoidance of death being too forced or plot armored. It's a timeless classic that I viewed in secret a few years before I was allowed to view it.

I will never get tired of this movie and I remember as a kid I had really wanted to meet Kevin Peter Hall and was sad to hear of his death. Oh and the predator II gane for NES rocked, the weapon assortment made it one of my favorite games back in the day.

There was also an Engineer skull on that wall. You also forgot to talk about the pistol that Danny Glover received from the predator that came from the pirate Raphael Adolini which is another fantastic story in itself.

"Hunter" was also the name of a popular US tv drama at that time, staring ex-NFL star Fred Dryer, who still holds an NFL record for getting two safeties in one game.

Sometimes I wonder what the movie would have been like if Jean-Claude Van Damme sticked with the movie and KPH never came in. It worked out for the best in the end. RIP Kevin Peter Hall.

think we got very lucky and that is not a knock on JCVD because i always liked his movies but KPH being over 7 feet tall added to that fear of the Predator , Arnold was a huge dude i mean 7 time mr olympia for him to fight an alien half his size would not of had the same impact

Predator kills anyone he perceives as a threat, or worthy of the challenge. All humans are naturally weaker than Predator, but they posses an intriguing challenge because of their intelligence, weaponry, ingenuity, etc.

I had a black lab that absolutely loved the Predator movie. When I got a 3D TV i bought predator since my dog was addicted to the film to the point of watching it 3 to 7 times a week I thought it would be a good idea. After I got her to actually look at the screen with the glasses on she was hooked. After about 6 months of putting the glasses on her she learned to do it herself . I could hide the DVD around the house and she would find it, if I paused the movie she would growl at me. People thought I was making it up but I have pictures and video of her putting on the glasses and staying glued to the screen and even growling when I paused the movie. for 14 years the Predator movie was the 1 thing that my dog had to have and it is a great memory of a great dog. I love the Predator franchise but not the AVP ones they suck but the first 2 hold a special place to me.

Love your channel! Always fun to hear some new trivia on some of my all time favorite movies.

I remember going to see this at the cinema all of 13 years old and thinking it was simply another Arnie action movie. When it became apparent there was a badass alien involved I was thrilled beyond belief. It didn't win academy awards, but this is the greatest of movies, up with there with Jaws. Simple but packed with Awesome.

Billy also had his own security team... For the other actors protection. He was off the hook back in the 80's. Very difficult to work with. Also I'm suprised you didn't bring up Kevin P Hall being the chopper pilot at the end of the film. That scene of him was added as a thank you for dealing with the harsh conditions in filming. Lastly Kevin P Hall has a very very tall nephew who went on to wear a fan made suit for the anniversary of the first film years back. You should be able to find it on youtube.

There have been many examples of music scores enhancing movies over the years but Predator, to me, is one of the best. The score for this movie gets to me every time I hear it. I love it so much.

RIP Bill Paxton.... who played in all three major movies. Aliens, Predator 2, and Terminator.... that’s awesome

Kevin Peter Hall, who played the Predator, actually shows up at the end of the movie as the helicopter pilot who rescues Dutch!!!

Predator also came out on the home computer systems such as Commodore Amiga, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC464, Atari ST etc. It was a side scrolling action game that looked way more like the movie. Computers were a way bigger platform than consoles back then around Europe. During the 80s and early 90s you'll find a lot of movie games were released on those formats over consoles (so Red Heat, Terminator, Aliens, Batman, Total Recall, Back to the Future, Goonies, Gremlins etc)

Oh Minty, your film selections always make me feel like a twenty year old again!! I oddly enough used to watch these movies around Xmas time but all of my movies were stolen by my son and his Predatory wife ick! Thanks again for your humor and insights. Gotta miss the 80's (and early 90's) when we got to see rated R movies we weren't supposed to be watching. :) I remember my first one (in the theater) was Rambo First Blood part 2. Now days everything is pg-13. Doesn't have the same appeal to be sneaking into.

Toby Bliss Both were good. P2 had a bit of Robocop style urban satire. The bit when Danny Glover gets out of the Jamaicans' car, amid an opaque column of smoke, coughs, and says, Maybe you guys ought cut down, is one of my fave jokes in a non comedy. Ps on the other hand, was a total homage to Predator and is honestly about as good as a Predator sequel can get without destroying itself. Part of the appeal of the Predator isn't covering the mysteries of the creature, what does it look like, what it can it do, why is it doing this? Once those questions are answered such franchises die fast. Look at Alien / Prometheus and Terminator these days.

Superman Vs. Predator. Alien Vs. Alien, (if on Earth). The game was on several platforms. Sadly the actor who played the Predator died from a.i.d.s dues to a bad blood transfusion. R.I.P. Kevin Peter Hall.

Superman kill an alien in he's stomach thanks to the sun. The alien become a problem to him because he was on the planet without the yellow sun.

Don't forget the Alien vs. Predator arcade game from Capcom as well. I liked that.

I love your Predator Christmas tradition. Christmas always makes me want to watch Willow because when I was a kid we would go to my uncle's house and it would be on there every year.

Fun fact, they needed bodyguards on set for Sonny landham, not to protect him, but to protect the rest of the cast from him!.

TheDudeReviews Can hear just the first few bars of it, and I get that same feeling I did the first time I saw it in the theater's!

The idea of Billy being the main protagonist that ultimately came out victorious against the predator never once occurred to me in all the years since I've watched Predator. That basically blew my mind because I can see it working well, perhaps even better than what we got in the original film.

Years ago, my ex wife saw this movie for the first time. She said the movie was good except for the ending because the predator was laughing before he died. I explained to her that he was mimicking Billie's laughter. She understood and became her favorite movie. To this day she shows it to her son ad nauseum.

LOVE this movie.

Billy almost felt like a stand in for Rambo. Had a very similar look and everything. I'm confident Rambo would have been able to put up a better fight, however.

You may want to add this info to your Predator episode. He played a scientist who wanted to be a normal size, which in turn made him miniscule. Clive Barker is a talented man. The novel Weaveworld is a great book.

The guy who played the Predator was also on a 80s tv show called The Misfits of Science. It was on for 1 season but I loved it as a teenager.

That "Face Hugger" is the Scorpion that was skewered with a knife and picked up by the predator for a moment.
