Your last point was especially interesting. Hard to talk about without sounding cranky, but you handled it like a pro. When I see a new pattern I’m tempted to buy, I’ve been challenging myself to find at least one comparable pattern I already have in my Ravelry library or the knitting books/ magazines I own. It has been unbelievably easy to do this. I’d love to see you spotlight some hidden gem patterns that you’ve knitted or designed. I remember a pattern you designed for Holla Knits years ago- Annapolis. I look for this kind of content- a knitting podcast, not a knitting influencer podcast. Thanks for your insights on pattern design!

Your podcast is very good and informative. It’s a challenging job and I can understand some designers feel overwhelmed and down. I appreciate your honesty about the success of some patterns. It’s true that pictures about lifestyle is determining for the success of a design (the name of a designer helps too probably). As a customer it’s nice to knit some popular patterns but also to go through crossroads (chemins de traverses) to find some hidden gems . I won’t be of any help to pay the bill but if it can give some comfort I will knit Cartero for my boys this year. (we say in my country « mettre du baume au cœur » ) I should knit Csiza for myself ❤ You are a great designer ☺️

This is really interesting. I buy patterns that I might make, but know I probably won't just to support the designer. I guess it's kind of guilt, I paid $3-6 for a sock pattern that probably should be priced around $10 or 12, so if I buy another pattern it kind of compensates for that. Is it better to have a card on file with Ravelry, or are the credit card fees as high as the PayPal fees? Is there a conflict if you sell patterns on your own platform and provide a code to add it to your Rav library? And your last point agree 100%. Anymore I buy patterns because I like the designer or there is something about it I really want. Like a chart or unique construction. Thanks for this video, really good information.
