Scotty, it’s coming to that. If you dare to explore in DEPTH concepts of digital twinning & SWS( sentient word simulation), you’ll see that ( just like in the “ Matrix”) what happens in SWS actually does affect the real physical object & vice verse. So: yep, they were planning for us( aka “ zombies” to stay alive & conscious whilst body deteriorated. Maybe it’s done that more people would become cyborgs in Metaverse & thus controlled from operational panel. To get the drift, read whitepapers on digital twinning, SWS & see Black Mirror episodes “ White Christmas”, “ San Junipero”, see “ Altered Carbon “series “, “ Better than Us”, and to grasp the concept, they portrayed ( metaphorically of course) SWS & digital twinning in the movie “ Annihilatuon” where “ shimmer” was Metaverse & “ alien” was main characters digital twin.... but very few people get the metaphor. Anyway, if you would bother looking, you’d find that all I am saying is factual , and the bible quote “ and in these days they sought death and death escaped them” is actually related SPECIFICALLY to SWS & cyborgs. Given that the bible was re-written from Mesopotamian scrolls & ancient Gnosticism & Mithraism , well, it’s not a “ prediction”, it’s basically a PLAN. Good luck researching all of the above, it will absolutely blow your socks off.

Just saw it on Bluray a couple of days ago, and yes, it holds up remarkably well. It's hilarious and the utterly dark ending scene is just perfect. I love this movie and I still recall seeing it at age 12 in the theater upon its release. Goldie & Meryl were a big deal in my family and to see them on the big screen together was monumental. I remember leaving the movie having loved every second of it. But my mother, who was in her 40s at the time, was not a big fan -- in fact she seemed depressed which was confusing for me. Today I'm about the same age she was in 1992 and I understand why the movie made her react the way it did. It's so difficult to experience a life that shows no mercy to our bodies as time deteriorates us and strips us down. It's hard being relevant and useful in a society that advertises youth as success. There's no way to stop time or the effects of time as days become years. Every day we are forced to take a look at ourselves as we step closer to our demise. And watching those we love experience the same helpless progression is just as brutal as our own experience is... STOP AND APPRECIATE WHERE YOU ARE NO MATTER WHAT! IT ALL CHANGES BEFORE YOU REALIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF NOT TAKING IT FOR GRANTED!

I love this movie! Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep simply shine in it. I can see this film over and over, and not grow bored with it. The 🐈 dialogue and helplessness of Bruce Willis further adds to the movie theme. I do wonder how it would've been having the flexible acting of Kevin Kline, though. He outdid himself in A Fish Called Wanda, and I can only imagine what he could've done for the Ernest Menville character. Still, this film does well as it is. I didn't know about the original ending, and I can't help but like the ending where Helen and Madeline both fell down the stairs and shatter into pieces. It is more of a dark ending but still funny as the audience is left wondering what they'll do now now that Ernest is gone and can't put them back together. I did enjoy it when I saw it, the acting performances are good and have a lot of unusual nuances for the actors involved, and the special effects are great. The one thing I found was that it didn't seem to know which side of the horror/comedy line to sit and that left the tone a little uneven at times. Maybe if it was more magical/whimsical it would have been even more fun? Still it holds up after all these years. Didn't know about the alternative ending, really changes how the film would have been perceived.

Really cool, memorable movie. The type I can rewatch endlessly. I think part of the reason for the 'meh' critical reception at the time is that the subject - the inevitability of death, the sorrow of losing one's beauty/physical attributes to age - That stuff is not an easy topic to get people to like and laugh at. I mean I really enjoyed it, but there is an undercurrent to the whole thing that can get under the skin. Good vid Minty man.

Fun Fact... Catherine Bell best know for the TV series Jag and The Good Witch franchise was in the film as a body double for Isabella Rossellini. Though uncredited Bell was the one emerging nude from the pool with her back to the camera before Rossellini was seen in the rob afterwards. She also did a screen test to figure out how her blossom could seem to enlarge by having someone stand behind her lifting them from under in her top. Streep went on to duplicate the effect on film after taking the elixir with her long time dresser behind her doing the maneuver.

This is what makes Streep the best. She come in and do anything. She can have one hell of a choice to make or she can come in and play roles like this and She Devil and just nail it. She is amazing.

When I was young (born in 1981), I had such a frigging huge crush on Goldie Hawn that I hated Meryl Streep after watching this movie. I was 12 when the film came out, so of course I grew out of that... eventually. As in last year... And even all these years later, I still can't believe that it beat out "Batman Returns" and "Alien 3" in the special effects catagory... crazy!

I love this movie. My daughter-in-law moved here from Vietnam when she was ten and stayed kind of isolated until she met my son, so there were all sorts of movies we had her watch she never knew about it. This was one of them and she loved it.

I always lovedddd Bruce in this role... but I could have seen Bill Paxton in this role too. He also has that whimpy vibe in True Lies.

I'm sorry you got slapped with the "Who Owns this Lunch". Dark Comedies/Horror Comedies are possibly my favorite movie genre. And I love this movie! Oh my gosh, it *feels* like a Tales from the Crypt story! Another show I loved.

You mentioned the movie The Walk with Joseph Gordon Levitt, my aunt saw that highwire walk at the WTC in 1974 live. She said that staring up at him made her so dizzy she felt sick and needed to sit against a building to keep from passing out. Minty has to do a video on that movie, I saw it and it's really good...unless you're scared of heights then it's more like a horror movie.

Goldie Hawn has an incredible ability to play comedic characters. Her seemingly natural acting skills often have her playing the ditzy dumb blonde so intelligently with so much charm and humility that the audience simply falls in awe of her characters. Besides of death becomes her, the movies private Benjamin and foul play equally showcase Goldie Hawn's comedic talents.
