10 Things Introverts Need in a Relationship

It’s already difficult for introverts to find their niche in a world that predominantly values extroverted tendencies. Cupid I do my best never to assume anything or do any kind of accusing towards someone. I always try to learn as much as I can in order to treat someone right- in the way that they want to be treated. I think it’s amazing to get to know people for who they truly are, rather than forcing them into someone they’re not. This video provided me with a lot of information in order for me to look at this with a new light and reach a clearer understanding

Have you guys ever had this feeling like all of a sudden you become all moody for no reason and you want your own space and no attention from anyone and so you start shutting people out.. But then when the people around you notice that and when they ask you what's wrong, you become even more irritated and sometimes you wanna say, ' just don't mind me and do your own business! don't bother me, let me be in peace! ' Edited : Awww.... Thank you so much for stopping by even for a moment and replying back. Didn't expect so many likes and feedbacks.Really, it feels so nice and comforting to see all the replies and to know that there are people who actually understands and feel you. Hope you all are doing fine. :)

The main issue with being an introvert in an extroverted world, especially in 2017 is that not only is the expectation for you to be extroverted, but also extroverts don't have the time or patience to get to know you in the first place.. Everything is so fast paced, and if you can't conform or be open immediately, you're cast aside.. Yet extroverts complain that nobody will take the time to understand them, yet they don't take the time to understand us..

‍ ‍ that has happened to me plenty of times as well, I understand exactly how you feel. There have been a few girls who apparently had crushes on me, but the one that asked me to prom got a nasty rejection (I said “I’ll inject botulinum toxin before I go out with ANYONE” notice I said “anyone” not “you” is specific). From that I was kinda humiliated in from of the class by her and people were talking about me in other classes. So I don’t like the idea of being in a relationship right now.

Indeed i'm an introvert and my lover is an extrovert. I am thankful he is very caring and understandinh towards me. He would tell me to not listen his friend's tease as I am very overwhelmed by it a lot and told them to be quiet. He is always there for me. Buys me food and easily catches up what i'm feeling or what's happening inside my mind. He is extrovert but he tries to be an introvert when we are together. He's kind of popular in school when it comes to friends .. mine was in academics. Whenever we have a free time, he would always stay close to me and pat my head if I'm alright. He would put up a gentle smile when I look at him. Eveytime when school hours ends, he would carry my bag and get me to the bus station. Even in lunch time, he would carry my bag and knows that he cant stare at me while im eating since i would be embarrassed so he would look away until I finished eating my lunch. By entering again the classroom, he would let me sit beside him while he massages my hands and kisses them from time to time.. kind of like making it his hobby. He would also put his head on my shoulder. To some, he is like a badboy kind of vibe, but inside he's very angelic. He may be a naughty boy but when it is me. He would always consider me as his priority and would always value my words. I never thought I would have such a man! 😊😄 He's every girl's dreams' type however he is mine anyway. 😜😅 To my beloved Dave❤

Never been in a sexual relationship.I haven't found the right person and It's been pretty hard lately. It gets to the point when I see my older sister who is engaged, my mom who is now with her childhood sweetheart and with pressure , especially from my other family members (Puerto Rican ) I at times feel like giving up. This video does speak true to what I want in a partner and then some but I just feel at times it is impossible.

HerDark Majesty I myself am 20 and have only been in 1 true relationship (which was sexual). She was on the plates of both personality traits, very quiet and loathed in alone time, but was very much so a party animal. Maybe partially because she's 18, and her introverted tendancies maybe linked to her depression. At the end I think she wanted to 'be one' with her extrovert side to move past the hurt of her past and move on with herself in life (hence why she broke up with me). We did alot of solely couple things with not so much going out and stuff like that which may have contributed. I can't change who I am, introvert in and out. But I did found love after 20 years, 1st girlfriend, 1st love etc. The wait is agonising. But if you remain yourself and open up to meeting new people, regardless of personality style, it might help in bettering you and finding that person. Note: I can't get along with pure extroverts, they need some introvert in them. Maybe that's what you desire and need? :)

I've never dated my whole life and I'm wondering how a (restrained) introvert could start a relationship. Couples usually like to make phone/video calls, come to gatherings, going out often and doing small things together. Well I don't. In relationships, communication is the key. When you feel moody or tired, your partner will asks or even demands you to tell them what the problem is. If it's me, that makes me more irritated when I just want to be with just me, myself, and I.

She's perfect the way she is. Took me a bit of time to read her body language and understand her on a deeper and personal level. But now that I can read her emotions, I've started getting closer and closer to her. I've never been more grateful to have such a loving and caring partner by my side. Only downside is that she isn't as passionate and direct as I am when it comes to showing affection. But I've told her that I she doesn't need to tell me. That is his time recharging, dont confuse it as he doesnt want to be with you. If he will see you respecting and accepting and understanding he will open up to you eventually. Unique thing about this playbook video is that It all demands authenticity and sincerity in my behavior and thinking, Which I appreciate because that’s what I want to be, as opposed to being misunderstood. This video is making me also realize how wonderfully patient she is in allowing me to adjust to her, as she’s adjusted to me. I “lean extrovert” but now I’m seeing that I definitely need to be more conscious in the nuances of this sort of relationship. Thanks for the video.

I am naturally an introvert not gonna lie but when I was dating my ex-girlfriend, at first I thought she was understanding that I needed space from time to time. However let's just say that she interpreted that as me not wanting to spend time with her. It became a point where sometimes she would guilt trip me and on top of that even when I spent time with her, I would feel emotionally exhausted after spending time with her. That's why I had to break up with her and started to focus on myself before I am ready to date a new girl that will be understanding let alone love me for who I am.

I have a introvert for a fiance, soon-to-be wife, and we have been seeing each other for almost four years. There have been some ups and downs mainly attributed to my not understanding how to best serve her and take care of her needs since I am an A type personality and an extrovert, some days it's a little difficult for me to get my head around things and this video was so awesome and empowering for me to understand her needs and how to best position myself to make her feel much more loved in our relationship.

It’s really hard, especially in comments on videos like this, to address all introverted people without coming across as not normal or understanding. It’s pretty difficult, we live in a world full of labels and stereotypes. So sometimes we address people as “LGBTQ are like this....” or “Republicans do this...” So we say, “Oh introverts do this....” it’s not that we mean to dehumanize you, it’s more like we might not fully comprehend how to address you, or we’re a little bit ignorant. It’s more like analyzing, even though we don’t go about it the best way.

I have always been an introvert since my childhood and yes I agree with this video. Introverts are not accepted and recognised in this world because it's all about being an extrovert especially when applying for "That job" It's all about having a specific personality and competing with other big characters that we have to adopt a false personality in order to qualify or become successful! Us introverts have special, unique and interesting qualities but it's soo damn difficult for others to see that because some people do not take the time and patience to actually get to know that shy individual. They only see what is on the surface and not the person as a whole and deep down what they are very capable of doing! It's sad really.

Jenny Snaps Respectfully, I disagree that introverts aren't accepted. Plenty of admired and influential people are introverts, from artists to analysts. Maybe they are less likely to be recognised with Mexican waves, fame and packed stadiums, but that's not the type of appreciation I assume most introverts would like anyway.

Jenny Snaps what upsets me is people actually frown upon introverts and act as tho introverts dont exist and everyone should just act like an extrovert because that is what society calls "Normal" they expect everyone to act and think the same. I hate it. that's why i avoid people and you know what i like it less peope less b.s.

One time I brought him with me when I went to register for classes at my college and I left him in the waiting room for an hour. While I am an Introvert, I'm glad I'm not shy as well. I can't socialize too much, or I'll just get tired and unbearable. But talking to people is “fairly easy“, if you just stay polite/pleasant most people are satisfied. I just hardly ever get close and personal with someone. On the other hand I know quite a few extroverts, who while they considerably often have trouble getting into a conversation, at least what feels like instantly become best friends. Somehow I feel like it's kind of reversed in my/ my friends case(s) haha

I'm an introvert and I can honestly relate. My mom and older brother are extroverts and my mom always tells me to go hang out with my friends more or go outside more or just stop sitting inside. But she just doesn't get it. We have had a few arguments about this. But I just need my alone time, I would rather read a great book than go and talk about the same stuff with my friends. Of course I go outside, just not that often. My dad is an introvert and I'm so glad he is, because I would go insane if I wouldn't know another introvert! And mostly all of my friends (don't have alot of those) are extroverts! Well, the rant is over!!!

I feel like my family is made up of extroverts and I'm the only introvert. So I get what you mean. My aunt is the one who realises this. I still hang out with good friends from time to time, but I don't go out often. Even an old teacher I'm still in contact with understands and has been a helping hand.

Yeah, I get what you mean. Not trying to be mean, just saying facts, but my mom has issues with nerves. She can get annoyed and angry really quickly and that just adds up to the 'me staying home alot' argument. Sorry, for giving you all my problems, but I just wanna rant and tell someone. So... I kinda also have depression. I haven't been diagnosed by a doctor, because I sure as hell ain't telling my parents, but I have taken alot and ALOT of tests online. And all of them say that I have depression, so I'm just gonna assume I have atleast a little bit of depression. And the whole situation just breaks me. Being an introvert, having depression and to top it all of a mom that judges me for not going outside and just not being happy with me no matter what I do is hard. Oh and lets not forget I'm quite young. I have barely any friends, because they try to make plans with me and I sometimes just don't want to go, so after that happens most of the time, they drift away. All the pressure from school topping all of my problems off. And that just makes me wanna cut myself, but I'm too big of a softie to do anything (too deep, moving on).I just sometimes wish I would have someone to talk to. And I know my mom just wants the best for me (for me to go out and make friends, breath fresh air and have fun with others), but it really hurts me when she yells at me for being lazy and stuff. Oh, how could I forget, I'm also very emotional. So I just kinda always am in a dark place and all I'm asking for is happines! Great, I'm crying while writing this. So sorry again for pushing my problems to you, you can just ignore this. I just needed to let it all out!

AliceWonderland No, no, it's okay, really. My mom has her issues too, and over the years the three of us (me, Mom and aunt) have had to adjust our eating habits and are trying to help out the others. My aunt was the first one of us to go gluten free, then me, and Mom went let's say voluntarily. So now I'm anxious about eating with others since not many know I don't eat certain things. I may eat mostly raw, but meat isnt completely off the table. Mom also stresses out, but I try to help her through it, despite our many differences and the fact she also gets on my nerves. I have the worst allergies in my family and I'm the only one on the spectrum. I may not have the same conditions you have, but you seem really nice. Great, I'm getting shaky writing this. I haven't even told my friends about me being introverted, but the teacher I mentioned might already know. Now, I'm ranting almost...

Quentin Ellis Well, you are learning from the best about ranting, so I expect some rezults, honey💁🏼😂 I actually know quite alot of people who always joke about people (vegetarians, vegans etc) about being really choosy (idk if that is a word, oh well) eaters, but I never really got their point. Like the person chooses what he (she etc) wants to eat and that is their buisness, not yours (the judgemental people). And I think you should embrace it and not care about other persons opinions. I think its amazing (at first I wrote amazongs, am so gonna use that instead of 'amazing' from now on) that you control what you eat. 'Caus we all know that there are alot, like alot of people who can't and they eat alot of unhealthy snacks and junk food. And if other people pick (judge) your eating choices, then they can mind their own damn buisness! Also thanks for reading that god damn long comment. You get a star sticker for that⭐️

WOW. Just.....WOW. FINALLY! Thank you for this video. Someone does get me. For as long as I can remember, I've always been misunderstood. Always been the odd one; the weird one (not that I mind being weird; normal is so overrated). The most painful for me has always been people assuming that: I don't like people or that I think they're beneath me; just because I don't really like hamging out with people much. Not realising that it's a natural tendency for me to be in my own world; that I do indeed love poeple. My point is: most of the points in this video can also be applied in any relationships involving introverts. What a great vid indeed. 👏👌

Dating an introvert is quite interesting to be honest. Compared to my boyfriend I am an extrovert. I was to one who started the relationship. By asking him out. He would have never and we were best friends. We are opposite. I love to go out and met new people. While by boyfriend rader stay home with me. Which is flattering but I am the type of person who needs to socialize. Be out and explore and he like to explore too. Just not with people which I find cute and frustrating. I love him though. I do try to push him to get out of his safe zone and he does the same for me. Makes me sit down and relax. It seems so simple. Yet it quite difficult for me. His actions have surprised me. Making him talk about his emotions is hard but we work on it every day. He talks with my friends and family. I also made him talk more with his own family. We are 2 years and 2 months now.

It doesn't matter whether you're extraverted or introverted, I think we as humans should take the time to understand each other and be patient with one another to make those more meaningful connections. I could be speaking nonsense though. - shrug -

No dear! It's not nonsense at all. I absolutely agree. All of us should have the factor of understanding all people in society whether introvert or extrovert we have quite unique traits and personalities but we should appreciate and support each other and respect one another with our own individuality and well-being

Agreed. Can't believe people are fighting over which side is better. Introvert and extrovert is just a personality. Most people share that which is not wrong. A person is a person. In a unique way.

Introvert here. Most of what you say is spot on. Less sure of 9... I quite like the 'spotlight' if it is a lecturn or pulpit, where I can express a complex thought in a planned way to people that are actually interested and who won't interrupt. Also less sure about the 'quality time' thing with a partner. It can work really well, or really badly. Most of the time my wife talks the only voice I hear is the one in my head endlessly repeating "please God, make her shut up!". And when she suggests coffee and a chat, she may as well suggest coffee and using an electric drill on my knee caps. But then other days we will have a long animated conversation that we both enjoy.

Don't worry. Is ok to be single. I've had a lot of relationships for an introvert (altough they only last a few months) and decided 2 years ago I'm out. I don't want to do it anymore and I've been so happy ever since. For me at least, relationships bring a lot of anxiety and paranoia and you are always either going into or gettig out of a conflict. Nah, I'm done. I'm so happy and calm and just having a great quality of life without relationships. If you guys find someone, that's awesome. If not, you really don't need it. Trust me.

This actually helped me to better understand myself. 😌 I've never been in a relationship because I know I'm hard to understand. I don't call people often because I need time to clear my head before doing so. A relationship doesn't seem to fit me. I'm getting to know someone right now but at times I just don't want to talk but I don't how to tell him that without him feeling like I'm tryna pry him off of me or something.
