I think documenting track days and twisties is still a good idea because that promotes good riding. The Internet loves squidding, but if new riders aspire to that, they might not last long!

Ok so I started on K7 gsx r750. I never rode bikes, i mean never. I was 42 when i got my license and the 750. I think age is a important factor on what bike you start on. I knew and know this 750 can kick me off when ever i disrespect its power. I got it for a few reasons. One the fitment i am 6'3" 240lbs and i fit on it with ease. 2 i wanted a bike that i didnt want to get rid of after the 1st season. Ive moddified it for more power, Moore Mafia flashed etc. Thanks Chris love how it rides now. Being older i think is the key in starting off on a more powerful bike. If i was 20 i would have looped it already being a jackass... just always remember to keep calm and ride on.... safely lol

When I was a little kid I had dirt bikes and got into street bikes around 15yo, when I was 18 I sold my motorcycles and didn’t have any until August of 2023. 21 years later I bought a 2024 Triumph 765 RS. I agree with you that age really impacts your riding style. I’m glad I didn’t have this bike as a 20yo. I wouldn’t have made it to 21yo.

Same hear, joined Zuke nation at age 41. Initially I was looking at a 600 but found a deal on a 750. I also think your driving style is another factor. I've been driving manuals since I was 15 so I consider myself to have a great understanding of the clutch/throttle relationship. The first month of riding I just stayed away from traffic and use B mode while developing my balance and muscle memory.

I definitely get the whole starting on a 1000 or a 750. Me, I’m sure someone will come for me, but I believe it’s okay to start on a 600. Only cause it will in some way teach discipline. The bike is only gonna go as fast as you ALLOW it to go…It will teach you to respect it. .plus, if you start on a 250, 300, or 650, it just gets boring quick & then you gotta sell it, which that can also sometimes become a problem with getting rid of…Idk, apples to oranges I guess…Just my opinion. Take it easy, respect the bike cause it don’t respect you & take it slow. But on the other hand, I don’t knock the ones that DO start small.🤷🏽‍♂️ #Much love🤙🏽 #FastLaneGang🏁 #OnTheRoadTo1Mill💪🏽

Bro that line about teaching discipline is straight facts. I bought a 636 in May as a first bike, highsided it coming off a roundabout. Before the crash i was accelerating like a idiot just holding on no control. But the day of the crash i said to myself i need discipline. I thought i was the ‘gifted one’ that can handle a supersport as my first bike lol

  • @KillaSnow

    @KillaSnow

For sure felt this. I got a n650 as my first in May. Obviously faster than a 400, but it was enough to be able to start on slow on and be mindful of the power with it as well as to grow into the power afterwards. Def looking into getting a 600 or S1k in the future.

Highly depends on the person, not everyone has patience and discipline. That is why here in the UK, anyone under 24 has to start on a 125cc for two years, and then still be restricted to 48hp or around that for another two years (still can have bikes like MT-07 etc, but must be restricted), unless they turn 24 within the first two years.

Very true about dropping your first bike. All it take is you stalling or forgetting the kickstand😂 Then i bought mine new for 7k. It hurt to see those marks but i made sure i haven't dropped it since. In my experience from where i live, not alot of people will want to ride with you because your new and/or have a little bike(400cc or less). Only 1 female turned they head when i started my bike. Mostly men came talk to me about it😂 Gear and maintenance isnt cheap fr fr Cagers really dont care about your life because you on a motorcycle. If they dont believe its safe they dont believe in your safety. They will run over you without hesitation. Stay away from vehicles.

So I subscribed a few weeks ago , I've been watching fast lane for a few months. So I have been going back to old content . Why cause I learn more about what to do and what not to do . Plus I'm embracing positive content from a positive individual. And to be honest he doesn't act arrogant or anything like that always encouraging novice and advanced riders . That's rare truly. Even though I enjoy fast bikes I won't go past a 600cc there's no point for me to much at risk so one things I've learned from fast lane is to stay in your lane. Speed isn't for everyone cruising now that's different. Enjoy the ride. Cause that concrete is undefeated.

I am a cruiser guy and have the same about your first bike, start small and work your way up. I didn't. I started on a 1100. I agree with respecting the power of the bike. I kept my bike off the highways for a month until I was comfortable with it. Two more first-time rider recommendations... 1) Start on a reliable used bike. You will drop your bike. I did on a stall. Fortunately, there was no visible damage beyond the love taps that existed when bought it. 2) Take a rider safety class. This one is BIG. Learning about pre-ride check acceleration, braking, and especially counter-steering is going to save your melon. Be save.

Most youngsters would be best to not follow suit, when we are young we are fearless, and mostly care free and not level headed enough to survive a big fast sport bike, you had the right attitude towards it from the sounds of it. It takes a lot of time to really learn to ride a bike, especially a fast bike fast. luckily here in the uk you have to start on a 125cc bike and work your way up after a couple of years learning the bike and the roads first, unless you are over 24, then you can go straight for your full license and get whatever you want.

To be fair i agree with most of the tips but the start small then go big one i disagree i started officially on a 1000 and I've had my close calls😂 but that's purely other peoples fault. Before y'all come for me i have self discipline. I really follow the "Ride your own ride" Rule. So anyone who wants to start big don't be scared just take it step by step each day and even when you get comfortable still take it easy. I ride a 05 Zx10r and been a rider now for 1 year still taking it easy (obviously in straight i go crazy😂 but that's after inspecting if there's any traffic).

Super green rider here. I had only been on a dirt bike maybe 3 times as a young child and no other experience. I did a dumb and bought with my heart and not my brain lol. So my brand new mt09 was waaaaaay more bike than I could handle. Luckily my very good friend helped me out and rode it from the dealer to my house after we concluded I would certainly die lol. Then he started me on a plated 125 until I got my bearings, up to a 250 then I convinced him to let me try mine after a month of practicing on the little bikes. No joke, I dropped it 500 feet from my house 🤣. Super embarrassing and kinda freaked me out, but we got it back up and I've racked up just over 1000 miles since late September in Oregon. Not too shabby given our typical weather during autmn imo. My point to this is, buy what you want, but respect it. Even something like a 600 can kill you in no time. Be patient, ride your own ride, know your bike, check your god damned tire pressure, buy good gear and wear it. Your body is worth the money and I've seen what asphalt can do to unprotected body parts first hand. Riding is super fun and I highly recommend it if you can get someone who you trust to start you on something small.

My advice for new riders would be invest in a nice lid! Ive smacked my head too many times and have had a few concussions(from years racing on dirt/motocross) and dirt is WAY softer than pavement. Dont skimp out on your brain yall. Maybe another two cents would be is to NOT ride with music for a while. I understand you wanna vibe out but for newer riders you should be concentrating on your bike, hitting your shifts and braking properly. 70/30 still the ratio? 70% rear brake 30% front. Be safe yall! Have fun and live to ride another day!

Back in the day (I was 17 yo) bought a used Honda nighthawk 400cc , rode that happily for many years. Even in winter season lol. When I bought my first car I stopped riding, but missed the bike life literally almost every day. I finally bought a 600cc at the age of 45yo. (Sold that real quick) for a zx10. Still have it at the age of 55yo. But I realized that riding that small 400cc prepared me for the larger bikes,, 👍👍👍

Blue carbon = Hard AF! Get the very BEST gear, I know alot of riders say "what you can afford" but actually save up to get the very best, your safety is priceless (Buy an airbag vest - Alpinestars Tech 5, saved me 3 times!). Make sure you have had your car licence for a few years before riding just to understand how drivers think or how they dont think, in some cases. Ride as much as you can, be very comfortable with your bikes and its capabilities and be hyper vigilant when on the road. Dont take unnecessary risks. Learn as much as possible from experienced riders.

@@Naldo_S1K Dont wait to get the bag if you can! I went with A.S because of reviews and the reliability. After two low speed (30-60kmph) and one high speed (80-100kmph) crash when I looped my bike, I am glad I invested in it! The A.S airbags are able to be re-gassed upto 3times, if there is no damage significant. I am planning on getting the TechAir 10 actually two because if one deploys and needs to be re-gassed, you can use the other one in the meantime. Once you start wearing them, you will never go back to not riding without them.

A good one is to not ride out of your comfort zone or push your skills on the street. If you want to see what you can really do, go to a track and do it in a safe environment. If you wreck on the road, you can hit trees, cars, go off cliffs, etc. it’s not worth risking your life to impress others.

This might sound silly, but it's true: reason why bike community is tighter than car community is because bikes have smaller dimensions, so they are parked close to each other during meets and that makes their riders hang out close to each other. It's a subconscious thing people aren't aware of, but I've noticed it. The distance between the vehicles correlates with the distance between the people in the groups and therefore, the tighter bonding.😅 EDIT: If you want to prove this theory, look up car meets on KZread and then bike meets. You'll see how much closer people get to each other in bike meets and how different the vibe is, ha-ha.
