    45 days is boss! Good for you. Truly. If you are an alcoholic, then I care about you. We are drawn together like survivors of a shipwreck. Tomorrow is your 49, right? 100 coming soon. Just keep stacking them chips! Remember that will power gets folded up and put in the drawer when we lie to ourselves. So when you inevitably come to the conclusion that you are better, you shook it off and now you can carefully drink responsibly...... when that happens......... I hope you can fondly remember me and my comment. Just know that countless people have done that. Some come back to sobriety. Some do not. I hope that you, and all who struggle can defeat that lie we all tell ourselves at some point.

    Amazing, right? My swim dropped from 2:04/100 yards to under 1:40 regularly, over 2700 yard swims! Sleep went from a hot mess to 7 hours regular without the use of alarms. I have not been late, sick, or confused since I quit. I also lost 25 pounds. Superpowers for sure. I once heard someone in a meeting say they were grateful for being an alcoholic. This is a person with two decades of sobriety. It blew my mind. I was newly sober. I spent days thinking about that share. I've come to appreciate it. It is now a part of the foundation of my sobriety. The appreciation for the recovered alcoholic mind. The simplicity of thinking. The clarity of decision making. The appreciation people have for someone that is living as usefully as possible as God would have them. When I stopped trying to win, I started winning soooo much!

    In my 5th month of Sobriety. Was a daily drinker for over 25 years plus weed. Health Improvements noted so far: 1. Improved Vision at night and clearer overall. 2. Improved cognitive function. Better comprehension and learning. 3. Better Skin and appearance. 4. Normal Bowel Movements now. 5. Much better sleep, however improvement didn't start until one month in and was slow after that. 6. Improved aerobic fitness. 7. Much more patient. 8. Improved motivation. 9. Greater level of Empathy overall. 10. Outlook on life has improved.

    Hi everyone, its so good to hear about everybodys journey and the positive messages. I'm 65 and in my 7 month of being sober and, personally, ive noticed massive changes in my physical health. A shoulder pain I experienced for years has all but disappeared, bags under eyes decreased, generally more energy, better quality sleep etc. One added bonus for me, TIME. Time spent being more productive, instead of living for 'wine o'clock '. This is one of the best decisions I've made & my only regret- I should have made it years ago! Well done to us all in this amazing adventure ❤

As the first few weeks went by, I noticed that it was happening less often. Now it only happens once every 2-3 weeks and the intensity and time is less and less. I had a doctor examine my eye's, he said everything is normal.

Also did Naltrexone for a few months. Still not 100% sure on that effectiveness... side effects for me were ED and insomnia. As AA says: Stop at all costs. Those side effects are all gone now. I dont even like drinking anymore so staying sober is getting easier and easier. When i do have a drink these days i dont even enjoy it and that just fuels my motivation to stay sober. Sober is a medicine. sober 3 years , but... I had a relapse of 3 months due to feel good time, like enjoying the sunset with nature and birds singing and no stress, Wine came back just like that with ...with some of the finest weed available. 1,2,3 one bottle maybe 2 , many spliff later, it was just nice. I perhaps forgot to eat many times. Anyway i am a cyclist and i saw how it did affect my breathing, sweat and stamina power, my head was in vertigo most of the times. I did stop everything as i started to feel my kidney with pain hurting me and my heart muddy. Specially in the morning. Sober again, my blood and saliva are back to super clean, God thanks I thought i will never get back that willpower. Not interested with poison, even if it does have fancy Labels. The wine o clock every hours is Gone, no carving.

    Day 2 again here.....but I will NOT quit quitting! My fall from grace was pretty small: I had about an ounce and it gave me a headache later - so not worth it! It has been easier to avoid alcohol since I started the carnivore diet. I think because I am better nourished. I feel grounded and balanced and somehow more solid. Another really sobering video, Jae, you are on fire in your new location!

    Try this out: When we ask God for assistance, what if God is there with us? So if we are WITH God, are we going to do what we are asking for help with? God is there...WITH you. Watching. So, in those times of temptation, simply try this mantra "I am with God", like you're walking into a VIP party and you're God's +1...Say it with confidence! know that you belong in that exclusive room and that exclusive company of sobriety and that God opened the door for you. I AM WITH GOD!

    Your vids have been beyond helpful. I mean that most sincerely but unfortunately with a heavy heart. I know many of us have fallen off the wagon, but I seem to fallen beyond that, into the doldrums. I have a career/job/trade that is very satisfying (although I admit I have called in "sick" (hangxiety) way more than I would like.) I wholeheartedly apologize for making a long question longer, but how do you deal with boredom drinking? My story runs much deeper, but I thought I'd start with this question. Health and joy to you and those you hold dear☀️

  • @GettingSoberAgain

    @GettingSoberAgain

    Boredom is simply a consequence of not challenging yourself to do more. In all of human history, there is more to do now more than ever. there are more hobbies, and recreational events at our disposals. there are apps like MEETUP to find people in your area who had similar interests. Is your fitness is good as it can be? is your home in order? are you as tidy and organized as you can be? is your pantry free of expire items? do you still have clothes in your closet that you haven't worn it 2+ years that you could donate? what services are you paying for that you could be learning to do on your own? in what ways are you not self sufficient yet? are you caught up with your home repairs? how's your lawn? your garden? what's on your book list? what friends have you lost touch with ? what family members might want to hear your voice? what good deeds can you do? what charitable organizations can use your hand or donations? This concludes my answer to: Boredom drinking Thank you for attending my TED talk 😉

    Sometimes i have 2-3 weeks straight without drinking, but i dont really notice any effects... Although, i should admit if i drink moderately next day or two are not productive at all. I am a moderate drinker, moderately exercise, in better physical shape than most of my age people, but depressive mood and lack of energy are real problems. PS have a buddy, my age, who quit 10 years ago. Overweight, depressed, lacks energy too...

But it's up to you to prove that you're sick and tired of being sick and tired. it's time to stop being predictable. know it's going to be different for a few days, and for a few weeks...but it all gets easier. it's time to stop being the victim and start being the hero of your own story.

When I drank, my levels remained in a normal high range, with a lot of meds plus insulin, now it's abnormally high. I've never been honest about my drinking to my doctor(s) so proper info is probably skewed. Any thoughts???

    I admittedly know little about being a diabetic, and I hate to ask a dumb question: Are you monitoring your sugar/carb intake? I ask because a lot of people quit drinking but pick up snacking, especially sweets... a lot of people crave sugar after getting sober as well.
