I'm 51 and previously been prone to injury so when I wanted to start jogging I got a treadmill and took it real slow and also did yoga, long boring warm-up and cool down but I'm jogging mostly pain free. My hamstrings are very flexible now and I'm trying to do the splits but my hips aren't too happy with that. But your videos are a fantastic help and I would love to hear Brad's hamstring story, partly in case I injure my hamstrings. 😊

I tore my quad a few years ago moving into a 3rd-floor apartment. I had a big, heavy box of dishes (the person I paid to help me pack was an idiot) on a dolly and I was pulling it up the stairs. I was using my legs, not my back, to pull it up one stair at a time, and towards the top, I felt a tear as I pulled and I've had knee problems ever since. I tried asking my doctor about physical therapy for it, but she said it's just arthritis because it hurts when the air pressure changes.

Hi, I've watched about 15 of your videos for my torn hamstring, some of them 2 or 3 times. This one was the most helpful because I keep re-injuring it and it scared me. I don't want to have surgery. I tore it about 5 years ago, just going down into a squat. I was in the best shape of my life (but must have had micro-tears from doing so many squats.) Now the leg is weak going up the stairs, so I'm constantly babying it. I tread water and injured it. On a bike in one block on a SLIGHT incline, injured it. I want to walk around Europe and I'll need to go up stairs! Knowing that Brad has reinjured his 3 times this year made me feel much less scared and normal. I enjoy working out but really haven't for 5 years now because every time I do, and re-injure, I think something is seriously wrong! The other thing I would love you guys to mention is that women, when estrogen is high on the cycle, can be more susceptible to injury! Brad, PLEASE FIGURE OUT how to heal strong and teach us!!! Love you guys! Fellow Mid-Westerner, Auretha Callison

I’m not an expert, but I think you need to slowly strengthen your muscle back to its normal state For example, start with a small lunge or two and once your muscle starts to get stronger you can increase your reps and sets. I hope this helps you🙂

I tore a muscle in my upper arm, over a year ago, and it still gives me fits. I keep using it, because someone said that if I babied it, it would "freeze" ... that sounded horrible, so I continue to use it, and continue to have moments where the pain is so bad, I hold my breath, clutch the arm, and nearly drop to my knees. I'm trying to avoid surgery, so maybe this will be my "ticket". I'll give it a try.

Question, I have went to my general practitioner twice, my two other doctors moved on to be heart surgeons, so I had only seen this new GP twice and my muscle running from my shoulder up to my neck was torn, and the GP signed me up for physical therapy. I’ve had a pain specialist for the past 10 years, I am a professional athlete, he told me to stay off of it and use icy hot and a heating pad. My GP signed me up for physical therapy, so is this just going to re-injure the progress I’ve made with my pain specialist I’m staying off of it? I’m very confused One thinks physical therapy is going to help the other things time and heat on it will help. What is your thoughts on this? Oh I forgot to let you aware that I have fibromyalgia, Hashimoto’s, lupus, and hypothyroidism and arthritis throughout my body. I have been professional equestrian all of my life. Starting showing at four and now I am 44 so my body has been beat down..

3 months ago I injured my rib (or maybe the surrounding muscles) while massaging the QL with the foam roller. I heard a pop and a moment later the spot started to cramp. I did not know weather it was a broken rib, or a bruised rib. It healed for 99% and I massaged the QL with a massage ball while laying on the floor. And bam! Another pop and the feeling like the muscle or rib popped out of place. Back to square one. When I am breathing in firmly I hear a popping sound. Could this be a torn muscle as well?

Brad, Ironically, I am having my third bout with my left hamstring. It healed along time ago, and I could sprint with out any problem. I over worked it and it just came back again. It came back doing those pelvis lifts and squeezing the glutumis maximus, I guess I did it too hard. That exercise was supposed to strengthen and take the pressure off the hamstring.

I’m not entirely sure what I did, but it’s pain over my heart. I lifted above what I was supposed to I guess and the moment I went to stretch the pain was so bad I had to freeze and slowly move the arm down.. hurt it 2 more times that day. It’s been 2-3 weeks and I still feel faint pain when moving my arm over my chest. If anyone as any comment what I’m experiencing.. not sure if it’s severe, needs to be checked out, or what

I did a leg workout the other day. I was totally fine and had no problems with anything. That night I woke up screaming in pain because my whole leg was cramping so badly. It calmed down after 30 minutes. I was making sure to ice it and also elevate it. The pain was only in my calf. It has been almost a week and it still hurts. I can walk with the pain but not go on my toes or lean on it when standing. My only guess is a torn muscle. Does it sound like a torn muscle to you? The only thing that is confusing to me is how it happened while I was sleeping. Or maybe I got a Charlie Horse and that caused a muscle to tear?

I have a freshly torn hamstring tendon. MRI scan confirmed it. Starting hurting at about 9pm at home, sitting watching TV. Only thing I can think that did it was demonstrating dynamic sprint drills to someone 6 hours earlier. No pain in between that time. No idea I'd injured myself. 8 hours later I was in agony and couldn't move or straighten my leg. 5 days later now and still the same, can't move my leg. So yes, pain can be delayed, unless you tear it right off the bone. You'll see, feel and hear that straight away.

One day around 3 months ago I sat in right leg splits for too long and i almost couldn't walk for the rest of the day. I'm still stretching everyday because I don't want to lose flexibility and I dance for around 2 hours a day (including stretching, leaps, jumps etc that hurt my leg). The pain isn't going away and its only when I stretch my right hamstring. I've been pushing it too hard but its so sore that my left (normally bad leg) has become my good leg. Does anyone know around how long I'll have to stay off dance or stretching and if its pulled, strained or tore?
