There are major differences between intelligence, intellect, and critical thinking skills. However, utilizing all three can very well enhance your intelligence. Having a hungry mind, makes you an intellectual. Critical thinking, drives your search for the correct information to connect with. Keeping an open mind, allows you to connect more dots and gaining more pieces to your grand puzzle because we don't know everything. As my grandfather says, "Learning is fun!"

Different people have different capabilities when it comes to critical thinking. I wouldn't call someone with a mental disability an intellectual for having a hungry mind. There congnitive ability at base is lower than the average persons. IQ is a real thing

Who later go on pursuing phd in respective fields... The ability to solve problems is what intelligence makes you do.. Because we survived and are surviving because of ability to solve problems...

Great presentation and truly accurate. I know how hard it can be so I feel with you But lamenting in your old relationships with toxic people around you is not a virtue in my opinion. I think there would be much more effective ways to help others. Some people don't want help and they will never want help like me. They've been left alone by their parents and only had themselves to rely on. Their trust is cracked or broken and not many work on healing that trust. They'd rather stay in their own isolation where they can't be abandoned anymore

I spent vacations with a group of friends, some years ago ; we came from very different backgrounds, have had different educations and studies, had different goals and jobs, and thus, different ways of thinking. I was amazed, though, by the intelligence, in many forms, of each one of them. They were kind, curious, open minded, original, passionnate, funny, very sensitive and caring. On the field of "raw" knowledge, they were more inequals, some had diplomas, some had not, some graduated, some failed at school, etc... After a few days, another guy came in the group. Her girlfriend discribed him to me as "someone very intelligent, funny, open minded, with strong believes, and very friendly". As I tried to talk with him, I saw someone very insecure with his knowledge, closed and reserved far beyond just being shy, hiding his lack of culture, not paying lot of attention to the world around him, or being able to care for, or to follow a conversation, nor giving his point of view or elaborate on it. Most of his opinions were ours, but said differently, and when I tried to "throw him a rope" in order to make him talk, he closed himself and refused to answer to anything. I was very confused with this person, and very disappointed at the same time. Maybe he comes from a family where knowledge was mocked, and him, being more cultivated, was scold or blamed by his relatives, or maybe he was sad at school, and developped a resentment towards knowledge, and had to hide his lack of "intelligence" in order not to be mocked and shamed. I felt bad, because it was such a disappointment, yet I feel sad and sorry for him now.

"the ability to notice and remember small details", maybe, maybe, go on. "Curiosity towards various things", fair enough, understandable. "Empathy is highly correlated with high IQ", pause the video and start thinking about what I would do if I didn't waste my first 3 minutes on this junk.

Empathy isn’t a sign of intelligence. Lies. Point blank. Also, You confuse self control with the capacity to make decisions in life not based on emotions. The great majority of people act on emotions. People with self control who are never impulsive or angry can still make silly decisions based on their emotions without even realizing it because they rationalize their decisions after the fact. . Like people who push the like button of this video because it makes them feel validated. Despite of the evidences.

I don't know if empathy is the right word, because empathy implies you care. But don't you think they would be able to recognize why people feel a certain way or how they might react to something? I feel like an intelligent person will diagnose sensitivities in others through pattern recognition. (I mean kids can do that, so maybe I'm setting the bar to low)
