Thanks. The helmet next to me is not an X70 it's an AGV A-4 helmet from the early 1970s.

Just so you know, in March 2020, Davida (UK) Limited made 8 of their full-time staff redundant, including ALL the staff in their UK workshop that actually made these helmets. Davida (UK) Limited filed for Insolvency later in 2020.

I checked out the caberg freeride. Small shell but very loud. With the visor on unberarbly loud. Probably the loudest helmet I ever tested. Only the Scorpion Belfast was as loud as the Freeride. Neither was usable, not even with ear protection.

That's unfortunate. It's not always easy to find a helmet that works for us. A friend of mine has the Caberg Freeride and really likes it.

What model Davida helmet is the one in the last pic where the wearer is wearing a checkered flag face covering? The one that a shield can be snapped to the helmet?

The helmet in the photo is the Davida 91, which is no longer available. If you order a helmet direct from Davida you have the option to add press studds to accommodate a face shield or peak.

Bell is the only one I'd buy, because of the lower pop stud. I went down the road on my face wearing an open face helmet when I was 16, the thing I was wearing(and I'm not telling what it is because they are getting hard to find) saved my face. Looking to buy a Bagger in '23, I'll be buying a Bell, not unless Davida can fit that stud!

I Don't know but TT&Co has shallower cheek pads.

@@joshfletcher9185 An open face helmet with a compact shell can still sit high on the head resulting in the look you're trying to avoid. Your best option is to try the helmet on.

No acknowledgement of various head shapes. You can't just run out and buy a helmet because of it's features. It has to be made for the shape of your head. So which of these fit oval, round, or round/oval heads?

Individuals would need to have an accurate understanding of their head shape as well as companies being able to accurately represent the head shape of their helmets. In my experience both parties have difficulty with this as it's not an exact science. Individuals also need to understand how to determine the correct fit. The simplest solution is usually to try the helmet on - it can be returned if bought online.

Hi I’m interested in the DMD vintage Great video, I believe I’ll be ordering a DMD soon! Although I’m not sure what size. I’m a 56.5cm and am not sure between a S or M… I want to order a small but afraid it might be too tight, but also equally afraid of ordering the medium and it being too big. I emailed them, but it’s the weekend. I imagine they’ll get back with me on Monday. Any thoughts?

Thanks. From what I understand the DMD vintage helmet runs a bit small. However, wait for DMD's reply to see what they suggest. Sometimes companies refine the fit of a helmet over time. I know Bell Helmets did that with their Custom 500 helmet.

@@brianfindlay4280 I just got my medium DMD helmet and it was too loose just by a bit. So I’m exchanging it for a small which should be perfect. But from what I can tell so far it’s a highly refined quality and comfortable helmet!

Without seeing any of them being worn on an actual head, we can assume they all look like bowling balls !!

Eclectic Motorcycles prices are almost double that of Japan so I assumed they were not an agent that officially imports any quantity of TT&Co products.

@@ultra-ride2446 Have not priced the Eclectic in true comparison. After VAT, duties and shipping, these things (price differences) tend to shrink substantially. Then, there's the availability. If Japan does not answer emails, the point is moot anyway : ) So if Eclectic has what one is looking for, and the price is acceptable, then there's that. But who knows if Eclectic answers emails. Of course, there are other Asian sellers, but those would be "just" the regular line and not the Made in Tokyo line from what I can tell. The older one gets, the more one is invariably willing to pay for quality and get what one wants and end the greased-up goose chase : )

@@ultra-ride2446 By the way, I now actually indeed finally got an email response from Tokyo. They informed me that they only do the 'Made in Tokyo' handcrafted and distressed ones in the novelty line, not the DOT. Hard to understand why, but so it is.

@@MidnightExpressMC That's good you got a reply. The ones described as novelty helmets are lower profile, which is typically a more desirable look but don't pass any safety standards. They probably sell more of those ones.

Limiting the video to 10 helmets inevitably means some helmets will be left out.

If you want the Bell make sure you have neck muscles like Mike Tyson

Shoei JO is missing from your set. But its price tag ain't for everyone, admittedly.

As mentioned in the video I'm not a fan of drop down visors on retro open face helmets but decided to include one. The LS2 Bob has press stud fasteners to fit a retro or vintage peak, which adds to the retro aesthetic in my opinion, unlike the Shoei JO.

@@ultra-ride2446 Shoei J.O solves an age old problem with retro looking helmets and attractive integrated drop-down visor. Any helmets with snap-on fasteners for face "shields" are a hair short of Frankenstein. It's a bolt-on solution, an unsightly afterthought. You might not like it but that doesn't mean others won't be keen to see it included. Peace!

However, it wasn't the Shoei JO that solved the problem by fitting a drop down visor on an open face helmet, Premier Helmets was doing it years before Shoei.
