10 Reasons I Love the Triumph Scrambler 1200

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I have now owned my Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE for 10 months and in that time I have ridden it over 10,000 miles. In this video I share my thoughts on why I think it is such an excellent bike.

    👍 after passing my test at 50 I had a Yamaha tracer 900 gt but didn’t gel with it then after 8 months traded in for the scrambler and oh boy I love this beast of a bike..

    I have to agree with all your points, although I have the XC as I'm 5'8" with a 29" inside leg.... So the XE was just a bit of a stretch as I one foot the XC 🤣 Love everything about the bike and the power is just where you want it. Excellent video and beautiful scenery 👍

    I totally agree. I owned a R1200 GS for 12 years and replaced it with the XE this spring. The GS offered a better wind protection and a slightly better stability on the highway, but otherwise, the XE can do as well if not better. I find the motor perfect and the fun factor is really really high 😁

    Good points and I can`t disagree with any of them, like you the first time I saw it I knew I had to have one but couldn`t afford a new one so bought something in my price range until a used one came on the market, I now have one and agree it is the most comfortable bike I`ve owned whenever I park it and look at it I still say to myself if I didn`t own it I`d want it so I think this will be my last modern bike as I cannot think of anything I would change it for

    I couldn't agree more. I test rode a 2022 XE the last week of April and bought it the following week. 6000 miles later and I love it even more. Even with its flaws, to me it is perfect and does everything I want it to do. I enjoy your channel. Keep up the great work.

    Hi there, I agree with everything that you have said, I just bought an xc model and every day I can't wait to ride it,and my wife says it's one of the most comfortable bikes we've had to date and we've had loads, having just sold a triumph speedmaster which we loved,,,until you hit a pot hole!!!! And theres loads of them here in Norfolk, the scrambler just glides over them ,,excellent all round bike 🏍 thanks for all your KZread stuff ,,,good luck, shakie

    Great video. I had a Speed Twin and a Tiger 800. I wanted something with Speed Twin looks but Tiger capability. Traded them both in. My Scrambler 1200xc hits the spot!

    I liked very much this new video.. not only because I plenty agree with you about in what this bike is perfect, but also about your "philosophy of riding" in wich I can recognise myself. That's exactly why I bought this bike, to ride on very small roads, and your video remind me my 5 road trips in Great Britain, wich enjoyed me ( Yorkshire dales, as you, and Wales, Brecon Beacons, Costwolds, Kent and many more other lovely places..). I planed to go one more time 2 years ago, but unfortunately I should cancel because of Covid travel restrictions.. I hope next end of spring , to be able to go to enjoy one more time your lovely countryside

    Actually, very interesting. I have regarded the Triumph twins to being a little low of the seat height but really, this is quite nice!

    Just love the way the bike handles and performs on simple A and B roads particular in the lake District lots of lower or mid gears to emphasise the character of the bike traded my tiger 800 wilth no regrets just love your style of narrative and explaining everything 👍

    I agree. The Tiger 800 is a great bike, but it lacks that low-down grunt. The Scrambler 1200 definitely better suits my style of riding and my sort of touring.

    Agree 100% I've owned three Triumphs. Two 1050 Tigers and a 1600 Thunderbird all very capable bikes although I have to say the Tiger leans more towards a sports bike. The T bird is a big old comfortable cruiser that eats up the miles like candy. Only one bike I've ever owned which was bought on looks alone was a Suzuki RE5 not an easy bike to get along with . Services were a nightmare and economy about 20 mpg.

    Triumph = For the ride, Songs from The Saddle = For the views - beautiful! Picked up mine last month - I absolutely love it. Traded in my Tiger 1200 xrx, which I disliked because it's sterile.

    Hi Mark. I like your comment about the Tiger being sterile. I'd never thought of it like that (I think in terms of "character"). I might work with that idea for a future video!

    Thanks for sharing....I totally agree with you on how the bike looks as well as everything else.... Old school all the way lol I've just sold a Yamaha tenere 700 and I'm looking to buy one of these, originally I was looking at the BMW r1200 GS Rallye....but I came across these triumph...the only thing that worries me is and like you brought up in this video is the problem with the keyless start/fob... and this is a big issue if the bike isn't starting.... can I ask what the solution was/is for rectifying it. Thanks again

    Hi Bob. I had the key fob replaced under warranty about 6 months ago and it has been 100% fine since then. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way. I see it as a totally unnecessary complication. But take a long look at the number of unnecessary complications on the BMW GSs - they are bristling with things waiting to go wrong when you are in the middle of nowhere.

    I think some people just don't get the point of this type or bike, and that is that you get the retro looks but with all the mod cons. I have ridden a good few bikes in my time and the 1200 scramblers have been the nearest to being (the all round bike) not perfect at everything, but not bad at most.

    I’m geting trouble to find the right lugagge for my XE. Looking for something like moskomoto rackless sistem. Will It fit with the exhaust?

  • @SongsFromTheSaddle

    I have not used the MoskoMoto. But I use a Kreiger OS system which is similar. The exhaust is an issue, in terms of fit and heat. See my separate video on carrying luggage on the XE.

    Great bike. One Point for improvement would be the weight. Does anybody has some advices to lower the weight with an Easy Modifikation?

  • @SongsFromTheSaddle

    @SongsFromTheSaddle

    10 ай бұрын

    I guess you lower the weight by removing unnecessary parts. When Guy Martin recreated the jump from the Great Escape they stripped loads of parts off the bike to make it lighter. It might be worth watching the video of Guy's jump for some ideas of what you can junk. Also, you could 'lower' the weight by literally reducing it's height. TEC bike parts make a lowering kit, and mods such as a Zard low level exhaust would lower the centre of gravity marginally.

    Je possède la 1200 XE (Steve Mcqueen édition 2021) qui est une merveille. Je suis d'accord avec vous sur les 10 points positifs, mais cette moto en plus d'être belle est incroyablement performante. Son seul point négatif, je dirai que c'est le pot d' échappement que je n'entends pratiquement pas en roulant. J'envisage de le changer pour un Zard. J'ai également le compteur qui avait un défaut avec une fissure sur le verre mais il a était changé avec la garantie constructeur. Quelles sont vos points négatifs ?

  • @SongsFromTheSaddle

    @SongsFromTheSaddle

    Bonjour Diaz. Je ne vois aucun point négatif pour mon 1200XE. Peut-être que le siège pourrait être plus confortable, et je préférerais des horloges analogiques, pas numériques. Mais ce sont des points mineurs.

    +1 Moi aussi j'ai la Steve Mcqueen édition 2021 :D et je viens de changer le silencieux par un TEC FLANK 2-1 Tailpipe de Londre (182€ + adouane et envoi) , le sons est magnifique! Beaucoup moins chère qu'un Zard. Mais ne passe pas le controle technique car le catalyseur original de EURO5 est juste aux 2 silencieux d'origine. Donc pour passer le control technique tu doit remettre l'origine mais bon...en Espagne c'est tout les 2 ans. Tu as le temps! A+
