Unfortunately I have family, and my children's father is in prison. Not jail, prison, which is a big difference when it comes to comminsary and things that you are allowed to have. So depending on how much outside help, or how good your hustle is, will decide how well you have it in prison. You are allowed to have radios, tv, shoes, outside food, magazines, headphones, etc. You can't wear any clothing that you want, but shoes are very important bc it's the only thing you can wear that is personalized. You have internet access. If you are good, you can go on work crews(if you aren't max level). You can get your education. And you can use your comminsary to trade or hustle for things you want. A lot of times it's cigarettes and drugs. Anyway, this is just a basic rundown of what you can have in prison.edit: Anything that can be used as weapons (ie pencils, razors, etc) have to be checked in and out of your personal items. After you use it, you have to give it back.

Yeah you have to check in things that could potentially be used for weapons unless the guards don’t know about them (shanks for instance). Technically you can get anything you want in prison as long as you have the right connections hence the abundance of contraband (cell phones, drugs, guns, shanks) in prisons.

We did have one guy from another state prison come down, he tied two together, took it from another inmate, then he sharpened one end. They don't work well as shanks unless you get two... he got locked down by himself... then yelled at us. "I wasn't going to use the shank." Riiiight dude.

Wow...it took me 2 hours to finish watching this...lol...I been pausing and replaying this for the past 2 hours.... Actually that is a completely legit key, handcuffs are very easy to pick with just about everything. There's a catch that you can push in to make it a /bit/ more secure, but that's also easy to get out of

i once worked at a halfway house and detox center and since i could be exposed to it i had to be pepper sprayed so i knew what to expect. was NOT fun! And was talking to an inmate there and he seemed like a nice enough guy, asked what he did and he said he was in for manslaughter!!

So blaming the prison and not the criminal? The problem is the Private sector, The private sector of prisons is complete garbage, they are all about money. State run facilities however are about trying to keep people safe. But because state run facilities are not about the money they are all going bankrupt and private facilities are starting to take over more and more. If private prison take over all the state run facilities that is going to cause a lot of issues. Just here in Indiana most the prisons are working with less than half the staff they are suppose to, this is very dangerous. But because the state does not have much money left they can not hire new people and can not give people their raises, which is causing people to leave. The state has talked many times about the National Guard helping with the prison system here but than again that would cost more money for the government than they want to spend. So private sectors move in, pay little and work their employees as hard as possible. Most state run prisons at this point are run so low of staff it would not take much for a take over by the inmates. However, believe or not most prisoners I have ever talked to believe they are where they are suppose to be. Most of them know they are dangerous and would rather be where they are at.
