There are better oil pastels to use,the ones that come in art sets are the absolute POOREST QUALITY made! Cray Pas or Mungyu are much better brands to work with! I just started my adventure with oil pastels. For the coming week they'll be my favourites ;) And I will use my finger for blending. It's a bit messy but colours remain very vivid... and it's fun too :D

This is very very interesting..how do you use these techniques, in mixed media??? Or ... would love to know.

even though this video might be 9 years ago, i just knew, this day, right now, on how many techiques you can do in using oil pastel, and the only technique i do when using them is the pressure blend. maybe thats why some of my arts colors are a bit pale, it doesn't really pop like how it would. this was very helpful and i can now try other techniques for my posters :)

Because my brother challenged me to a star wars drawing contest and I didn't want to use colored pencils and I had never used oil pastels before and so yeah. The scene is Obi Wan fighting Anakin on Mustafar and they grab eachother's lightsabers and the lava explodes behind them. Any tips hints and tricks?

You can also combine soft pastels and hard pastels very easily. I have bought 48 soft pastels, 24 hard pastels and 12 hard pastel pencils to start off with. I see a lot of good pastel painters using all of the different types of them. Do you think that I have enough pastels to start off with?
