LOWES SUCKS!!! First, they delivered a broken drier. They picked it up July 21st and the driver said I would get money within 48 hours. This was first lie. The customer service said refund by August 9th (LIE #2), she also said she put in for warranty refund (lie #3). August 11th, I go to store where I bought drier, was told money would be there today or tomorrow. (lie #4). Its now been 22 days since they picked up their broken drier and I STILL DON'T HAVE MY REFUND!!! Luckily, I'm in a place in my life where I was able to buy another drier from Home Improvement. But, when I was younger and raising 4 kids this kind of criminal behavior would have caused serious damage to my quality of life. So I hope everyone understands when I say. LOWES SUCKS!!!

Lowe's employee here, I'm a tools associate and I have led the build and grow a few times, we do give the free kits out when we have some left, Lowe's does an online sign up for the build and grow and sends the kits based on those numbers of sign-ups to the stores. They do send a bunch of extras just in case, so whenever we have some extras and people ask for them nicely we give them away but beware, they go quick.

My wife is a Girl Scouts troop leader and was trying to buy enough of the same build kit for each girl to have one but the store was shy on any one kit. When she asked about ordering kits the team member at the service counter took her info and shipped a bundle of free kits to our house. The Lowes kits are better designed and made that the kits from Home Depot which gives the kids a better experience overall.

I am a former Lowes paint manager. I can confirm the mis-tint section. However, it’s not 70% off. The prices are based on size, not brand or original price, which can be even better. It’s been a year since I was there, but if I remember correctly, A quart is $2.50, a gallon is around $9, and a 5 gallon bucket is $30. Watch for the higher end paint like Sherwin Williams Infinity and Valspar Reserve. I put out a lot of mis-tinted SW infinity for $30 that is originally over $200 for 5 gallons. Just don’t ask the employees to change those colors, they won’t do it and hate when people ask. Once you customize the color, it becomes full price.

They've recently changed their "oops" paint (in Houston for sure). Instead of $9 a gallon and $2.50 a quart, they are now only taking 25% off, sometimes 50%. Also everytime you buy one, they need a manager to come in and approve the markdown. Home Depot still has lower prices on their Oops ($9 a gallon) and they barcode/sticker them so you can check out faster.

Former Lowe’s pro services associate here. On tip #4, at least in the past, you can split up the purchase of the quote into your stages of construction. Also, the “contractor pack” pricing is typically better than this quote will give, here’s an example: say you need about a unit of plywood for roof sheathing, along with some items for an unrelated project. Have them split the sale and buy your unrelated items, then come back and buy the plywood at the contractor pack pricing and don’t use the quote they gave. Also, tip #4 works great on high margin items, think hardware, paint, lighting fixtures, plumbing fixtures, appliances, and patio furniture, including barbecues. Basically everything that is above ground, and outside of the walls and floors.

Concerning the paint mistints... I'm a former Lowe's CSA and spent a year and a half in paint. Mistint (We called it "Oops!" paint) is a great deal, but it should be stressed that the associates are ordered to change the paint's color before putting it out at a discount, and they will not tint it further if you ask them to. The reason for this is that we used to just put the returned paint up for sale at a discount with no modification, but people caught on and tried to game the system. They would order the paint in the color that they wanted, buy it, come right back in and return it, wait for us to put it back out on discount, and then buy it again at a fraction of the original price. We started adding the additional tint so that, if anyone tried it, they would find that the colors weren't the ones that they originally wanted, and they would be forced to pay for it like an honest customer. If the customer didn't like the color of the mistint, they couldn't return that, either: all mistint sales were final. This was explained to me very early on, but I didn't believe it until a customer tried it. He hovered around the paint station, ready to buy the paint again, and he had a fit when he saw me changing the color. He tried to stop me, but I had my orders. I will say that, before that incident, I barely changed the color at all. Afterward, I got *very* experimental with my tinting.

I work as a Pro Services Sales Specialist for Lowe's. Typically the volume discount on lumber at our location only comes to maybe a tenth of a percent higher than the discount you get with one of the Lowe's credit cards. But a lot of other items in the store we see 10-40% based on the item in question and the quantity being purchased. You can even use volume savings on special order products if they meet the $1500+ mark. If you have a small business I would suggest the Lowe's Business Rewards card. It gives discounted delivery, 5% off on everyday purchases with Lowe's, AND 5% cash back for the first 6 months, 2% back after that. And you can make payments on the card in the store. So pay with the card, save 5% and get more in cash back, and turn around and pay off the balance in the store a few minutes later. This is probably the first "shopping secrets" video that actually hits the nail on the head everywhere.

It was a little over 10 years ago but I used to work at Lowe's in the paint department. TECHNICALLY you weren't allowed to return paint after you walked out the door with it. I don't know if that's changed or not over the years. The only reason we had a rack with mistints was because either 1) we messed it up because the machine borked or somebody failed a color match or 2) somebody asked for some paint then never picked it up. Of course, people caught on and started asking us to mix up some paint then would walk off and come back the next day hoping to get it for cheap. I started keeping the mistints behind the counter and put a sign on the empty rack saying to ask to see the mistints. Wouldn't you know it, mistints dropped almost to 0 after that. But on that note, yeah man, paint is super high. It was $25 for the top tier stuff when I worked there. Just painted a room couple weeks ago and it's $40/gallon for the "almost top tier" stuff now. T_T

used to work paint at both lowes and home depot. same thing, and sometimes we would retint the paint that was "left by mistake". most people notice if they forgot their paint, so we'd wait a day before retinting. most people would call and let us know they forgot and they were coming back, so we'd leave a note on the desk for the next associate, but customers paid in full for those. also most people don't realize they can have the OOPS paint retinted to something close to what they were looking for.

Found an Graco Magnum Pro X19 airless paint spray for $100 less on Amazon Lowes refused to price match it, the same for HD; obviously went thru Amazon and had it in 3 days with free shipping to my door step.

Regarding price matching - Lowe's will price match themselves. Sometimes other Lowe's stores or the website has a lower price than our store. Yep, we price match it! Also, if the price goes down within 30 days of purchase, we'll price match the new price.

At my store I work at we do not price match other Lowes stores. I was told that some stores may have overstock or clearance items specific to the store. I was shocked when I found out but it makes sense. For example the Lowes near my old residence had a lot of overstocked 5 burner gas grills and were selling them for $112 while every other store in the area had them normal price because they didnt have a huge overstock like the one closest to me.. I lucked out and got one of the grills so I was happy.

They'll price match, if the manager actually shows up to the register to authorize it. Good luck with that. I can't even get them to run the saw so I can buy plywood and put it in my car.

just start taking the sheets off the shelves and start laying them all over the floor, when they come up to you to ask what your doing tell them you are looking for a piece that will fit in your car since you can t find anyone to cut one for you.

A problem I have encountered with the price match is the item of a competitor has to have the SAME product ID number. I tried to buy an exhaust hood that was the same brand and model but had a different number, by one letter, and was refused price match. I found this to be true for many items , having a different ID number for the same product but shipped to different retailers.

Sadly my local Lowe’s has some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Add to that it’s damn near impossible to get any help. I’ve have actually walked from one end of the store to the opposite end trying to find any employee to help me. Not a single employee on the floor anywhere. That happens more often than it should.

One of the most important things to save with Lowe’s you left out tho and I couldn’t believe it because it saves you at least 5% every time is the LAR account. Lowe’s accounts receivable. Preload it with cash and go for it!

The reason that appliances tend to die about the same time is twofold - First, there is what I call Sympathetic Failure Response (SFR). When appliances learn that one of their own has given up the ghost (there is an IoT!), they then accept and embrace their service life limitations. The second reason is that generally, people tend to buy appliances about the same time. Say you build a new home, or you opt for one of those appliance packages. That means the service lives of most if not all of your appliances will expire at roughly the same time. The first reason is, naturally, a lot of hooey. But the second reason is grounded in logic.

Howdy Mr. 731.... Out of the 2 box stores...Yeah. the Lowe's card is better over all. I've got both. Wasted my 20% on cinder blocks when building the foundation for my 2nd shop. Wasn't even thinking.....Used a laser level for my foundation, spent 3 days in 30° Temps outside aligning and leveling my cinder blocks. Then went and spent over a grand (Lowe's card) on 6 sheets of flooring plywood, 2x10's and $250 on QUALITY outdoor paint all for the foundation. Spent $30 on cinder blocks with a 20% discount. Now THAT was a Homer Simpson ""DOHHHH"" moment. Saved $5 bucks vs. Over $100 had I waited to use that 20% on my lumber. As for your appliances going out at same time...."Murphy" lives on all of our shoulders....However, through my experience running my own electrical and research (I research ALOT) (not to mention...One of my jobs after the 2008 Fannie Mae housing crap ((put me out of my 10 year cabinet installation job)), I worked as a DirecTV installer. Not a contractor, legit DTV. Did that for over 5 years. I drove my managers nuts cause I believed in quality work. I was the guy you wanted to install your system cause when I left, your stuff worked and lasted. Anyways...I learned a lot of "electrical" and the "flow" of electricity. One very important thing I learned was that electricity creates "electrical" vibration. The more an item is used, the more "vibration" it creates. Vibration loosens nuts and screws. Installing cabinets for 10+ years, I can tell ya, in watching the other trades doing their work, "quality" is the LAST thing on their minds. Cheap outlets, cheap outlet covers. Couple that with their "get in, get out" workmanship then toss in the SCIENCE of electrical vibration...Well, it might have been a "NEW" house but unless you personally went through and changed out EVERY outlet with a QUALITY outlet and personally tightened those screws, I can almost guarantee you that the cause of your appliances going out at same time is due to loose connections and cheapo outlets. As well...Check the grounding at your homes main breaker box (the one outside). It should be clear of everything, no leaves, no dirt and should be a few inches above grade. And needless to say, TIGHT on the grounding rod. All those things factor into lower life of appliances AND your utilities cost more too.

The price match is more of a slick lie especially on appliances. The product must have the same item number as Lowe's. However, Lowe's requires an exclusive sku/model number for the exact same model of appliance, or shelf, or board, or light fixture... You get the idea. So the exact same washer, dryer, etc by most any manufacturer will have a slightly different "model number." They will not honor their word because "it's different."

Buyer be ware. Lowes return policy has changed to 24hrs for major appliances. No one tells you this in the store. Now if you use your lowes card you have 30 days but item must be in original packaging so that means once appliance is installed which usually happens upon delivery it is non returnable. If the item is defective or your not happy with performance your out of luck.

My number one Lowes hack is to not go to Lowes. I have been to dozens and they are all the same. Poorly stocked shelves, low or none existent inventory, horrible lumber and clueless or lazy employees. I’ve rarely ever been to Lowes that I haven’t left pissed off. I have a locally owned lumber store near by. Their lumber quality is too tier, they are almost always cheaper than Lowes, their staff is knowledgeable and happy to help.
