    OMFG I'm new-ish to UW Photography but have been using Lightroom for 7 years and I NEVER utilized the Snapshot feature until now 😵 I was missing out big time bc this feature is genius 😍 Here I was doing Virtual Copies to "save" my procress at that time but I like the Snapshot feature so much more. You could always do Virtual Copies later based off the Snapshots anyways so... wow, thank you so much!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

    Great tutorial, it's nice to have an underwater oriented tutorial. I was surprised that you did not talk about the Dehaze slider in the basic module, I use this feature a lot and it speeds up things for me. What is your take on this? Thanks for the video.

  • @BrentDurand

    @BrentDurand

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the feedback Denis. Dehaze is a powerful tool. Adobe first called it an 'Effect' because the tool combines several different adjustments (clarity, sharpness, saturation, etc.). I think of it a bit like the Contrast slider. Yes, you can use Dehaze it with great results, and I usually bump it from 4 to 8 depending on the image, but I prefer to adjust the individual elements that make up the Dehaze 'effect'. It gives you more custom control. There's no right and wrong though - everyone will find a different workflow!

    Great video, thanks! I feel the auto tone feature in Lightroom works poorly in UW Wide Angle - I tend to do everything manually. I would feel the same for presets as the light changes dramatically UW and affects output quality. Didn't know about the clipping feature!

  • @BrentDurand

    @BrentDurand

    Thanks for the comment. I certainly agree that Auto Tone and Presets are not the final solution - just a starting point for ideas. They come in handy when thinking back to that first day in Lightroom 1 and being confused about the effect of each slider. These days I use presets for the universal global changes I apply for each different lens, then edit each photos individually from there.

    As always your tutorials are really helpful and right to the point. I have an Olympus camera and noticed that Olympus is not available in the lens corrections. Is there a way around this?

  • @BrentDurand

    @BrentDurand

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks Kerry! Olympus actually applies lens corrections to the RAW file directly, which means that there is no additional lens corrections to apply through the check box in Lightroom. If you uncheck the box 'Apply Lens Corrections' in LR, you should see a little circle with an "i" for info below it toward the bottom of that toolbox. If you hover/click on that, it should tell you that the lens correction was already applied. I hope that works....?

    Thank you for the great vids, I've been shooting for almost 5 years, not as much as I wish (once a year). I was trying to follow the video on my ipad but some of the features such as Snapshot and clipping can't be found, also new to Lightroom. Could you address using devices outside of the desktop version of Lightroom? I know it's a lot of work and I understand if it can't be done. Love the music but I think it could be lower as the repetition overshadows what you're saying. Thank you so much for sharing. Great photos too!

    Hey Michael - Very good point. I completely forgot to mention that this was based on Classic CC and not the CC version for mobile. Just updated the caption. I don't actually own a tablet, but will look towards making a separate quick tips video for CC on my phone. Also thanks for the feedback on the music! I can't reload this video on KZread but will keep it in mind for all future videos here and in the subscription series at video.brentdurand.com.

    Early in the video, you reference a "fantasy wetlands" that the camera (and LR) couldn't know you had on. I'm assuming that's a (physical) filter, right? If so, can you point me to one?

    Absolutely. Wet Lenses, including those made by Fantasea, are physical lenses that you can add or remove underwater for shooting macro or to widen your field of view for wide-angle shooting. Here's a video explaining each in depth: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d2mc3KttY9TQmso.html

    when I'm filming/taking photos in our lakes here, how do i edit lor correct for the overwhelming amount of green/yellow tones in the water?

  • @BrentDurand

    @BrentDurand

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi - The green/yellow you're seeing is a matter of white balance (color temperature). This can be fixed in-camera by using a red filter, using video lights, or setting a manual white balance. In post-production you can also adjust the white balance, although it degrades the quality of the footage if you adjust too much (unless shooting in log formats designed for color grading). Here are a few tutorials to help explain in more detail: - GoPro Filters & Color Correction: tutorials.brentdurand.com/gopro-filters-and-color-correction/ - Why you Need Light Underwater: tutorials.brentdurand.com/underwater-camera-lights/ - Lightroom Editing (this video has some color correction of still images in it): kzread.info/dash/bejne/e5al2pqEp8KaocY.html Hope this helps! -Brent

  • @BrentDurand

    Hi - I just checked Lightroom for several Olympus cameras I've shot. Olympus applies lens corrections in-camera, so there are no additional corrections to apply in Lightroom. You can check the Settings Menu in the TG-5 to see if you can turn the corrections on and off. It's a great camera!

    Yes, you can process jpg images from the GoPro Hero 5 in Lightroom. I believe that is the first GoPro offering RAW photo capabilities, so that will be best if you intend to edit the images in Lightroom. Good luck!
