Here's a tip: When you paint, you have a wonderful opportunity to give yourself a spa-level hair & skin conditioning while making it easy to remove paint from your hair & skin. Olive Oil. Rub olive oil generously into your hair before tying it up to control it. Next, rub oil on your skin anywhere that might become exposed during the painting. Work the oil into your cuticles, & don't forget to rub oil onto your face, neck & ears. Wash your hands to get most of the oil off the hands, dry them, then scratch a bar of soap, to fill the space under the nails. Now you're ready to paint! After painting, cleaning the brushes, & putting everything away, you can shower & shampoo as usual. The olive oil will have kept the paint from reaching your skin & hair, so will easily wash off. Meanwhile, the oil will have penetrated the skin & hair, making them soft & youthful. Now the room you painted looks good & so do YOU!

Olive oil is inflammatory. I use almond oil, it's lighter, and won't block your pores. I even use it to wrap my hair up under my garden hats. That way it's a hot oil treatment.

I work for a tile and flooring company. You have to be careful with the toilet bowl cleaner grout hack. It can eventually break down your grout. If you’re going to use this hack, I strongly recommend sealing your grout immediately as soon as your grout is dry. This protects your grout and keeps it washable with regular mopping for a long time. There are other grout cleaners that work similarly to the bleach cleaner but you should still seal it.

You have the most beautiful smile and attitude that is infectiously positive! It makes me want to watch. Just a suggestion. My son is a dry waller. He taught me to fill a large hole in wall like that you should use drywall compound (the pink stuff is for small cracks.and shrinks quite a bit) and a 6" drywall knife(putty knife). Do not over fill hole. It's better to do 3 light coats that dont protrude proud of wall saving on sanding. The last coat fills the tiniest little dips when you spread from all directions.. Then use a sanding block when 3rd coat is totally dry. This method will save a ton of sanding and dust that ultimately gets all over the house.

I loooove home hacks. And these were amazing. I especially like the one to prevent bleeding when painting stripes. My mind is blown! One little hack I've used has to do with nailing anything into a wallpapered wall. If you cut a little upside down v-shape in the paper before you insert the nail you can avoid making a hole in the paper. Then if you want to remove your artwork you simply remove the nail and paste the paper back up in place.

I put Vaseline around tip of hot glue gun. It keeps the strings from forming! I also wipe Vaseline around lid of my crafting paints. Then paint won't dry around lid and be easy to open. Easy oven cleaner: put baking soda on floor of oven. Place bowl of white vinegar on rack. Let sit overnight. Fumes from vinegar loosens everything up and you wipe it down in the morning.

Years ago when we were having our house built, I had a conversation with a coworker who had just moved into a new house. She told me she spent way too much time cleaning her light colored floor tile grout and that if she had it to do over, she would have ordered the flooring with dark grout. Fast forward 24 years and I have never had to worry about my very dark grout.

There is a product called “Kiss Off” that I kept in my desk as an art teacher. I think it was originally used to get lipstick off of clothing. But it also has other uses. Your fans probably have more ideas than I do but one of the things we used it for was to remove permanent marker from clothing and other things made of fiber. It comes in a little cylindrical tube like a chapstick or lipgloss. I just love your videos, darling lady!

Ok so this is more of a hack for us ladies lol so I bought a bra on Amazon, I absolutely love it! It’s underwired, supportive, yet comfortable. Do you know how it is when you find one that fits you right doesn’t cut into you etc. You don’t want to search again. I am not one to return a bra for obvious reasons. My strap broke and it was the metal ring that attaches the strap to the cup. I washed it and even though I wash them in a mesh bag, somehow it broke in the washer. I didn’t really wanna sew it so I thought I fixed My Closet shelf with a huge zip tie and it’s held up for years so why not My Bra lol So I looped a zip tie through the holes and I don’t have to spend $20 on a new one.

Please stop recommending the toilet cleaner for grout hack. Tile experts/companies all advise not to do that. It damages the grout and tile over time. Unfortunately, this hack keeps popping up when it's not a good one. It may do a decent job bleaching out the stains, but it is very harsh and causes damage in the long run.

Grout cleaner - Just buy a bottle of specific alkaline grout cleaner at the hardware store. The blue dye in toilet cleaner can stain lighter grout. Worked for Stanley Steemer for 7yrs and have seen people ruin light color floors/shower pans using colored cleaners or bright color shampoo. For permanent marker, if Windex doesn't work, use hand sanitizer that has ethanol/ethyl alcohol on the label. Different markers use different solvents, Sharpie specifically uses ethanol.

After you locate any one of your studs, either by using a stud finder or any other method, you can simply measure 16” from that point (vertically of course), and your next stud should be exactly there, assuming your home was built to code. A 16” spacing for construction is a standard and code requirement. Good luck

Another Sharpie hack: Fix chipped dishes with a closely matching colored Sharpie. This is best for decorative items but also works on everyday dishes, you just need to refresh it often. Just don't use it where food touches it but chips are usually in the rim so you should be safe. (ps, I designed and painted dinnerware for 30 years...this works! We had customers calling all the time for replacements of their one-of-a-kind piece which were not available!)

It dries like stone, even underwater, then can be sanded, painted, drilled. Fixes chipped sinks, tubs, tiles, and ceramic cook tops too. Love the stuff. All these hacks are fantastic, I love the toilet paper one and the drill for the cabinets, I hate my cabinets they are pine would and just q straight door and very very old, we rent so I have cleaned and scrubbed but they still look awful. I am going to paint them but I have to get them clean first, so hopefully this does the trick. Who ever lived here before never touched them. So thank you so much.

If you are going to paint, use Krud Kutter degreaser to clean you cabinets. You can clean with this product and then paint. No rinsing is needed. It is a powerful cleaner and will remove paint. So be careful what else you use it on. But cleaning wood cabinets to prepare for painting is a great use for Krud Kutter. You can get it at places like Home Depot.

I did some recently. Removed all the hardware (you can also tape it off.) Washed down first with Dawn and warm water. Rinsed well. Sanded lightly to give the primer something to adhere to. Used killz primer so the weird yellow wood stain wouldn't bleed through, then Behr chalk paint, I used two coats of white. Sealed with min wax poly acrylic (not the polyurethane.) Let everything dry for a day or two between coats and sanded between coats with 120 grade sandpaper as necessary to get rid of drips or obvious brush strokes. Came out great. Pro tip- keep all your removed hardware together in a gallon zip lock bag. Good luck!
