10 Levels of Tactics: The Interference
The interference is a RARE tactic in chess, I hope you enjoy pushing yourself on these incrementally harder puzzles. Who know's? Maybe someday you'll even play this tactic in a competition!

1:35 can't the rook just take the bishop? this defends the queen and also againstr checkmate
In the level 4 puzzle I find Rd5, sacrificing the rook and if he takes with the rook Is backrank mate Qe8#, and if he takes with the pawn Is backrank mate again taking the rook Qxd8+ Re8 Qxe8#, AND if he takes with the queen is Qf6#

actually I think Zach missed this and your one is the correct solution
9:30 isn't Rook to d5 equally good? If you take it with the pawn, queen captures rook checkmate. If the rook is captured by the queen, then queen to f6 checkmate. If the black rook captures the rook on d5, then queen to e8 checkmate!

Rd5 is actually better cause its a forced mate in 8
In puzzle 4, I think RD5 is also possible If they play exd5, then qxd8# If they play Qxd5, we play Qf6#

I came up with that one too, and the computer says it's even more precise than 1 Re5, because after the latter there's 1 ...Rf4 2 Qg4 Qf2+ delaying the inevitable for a little longer compared to 1 Rd5 :)) but the substance doesn't change
@Aditya-4821

Rd5 is correct because Re5 is inaccuracy and it doesn't lead checkmate. Congratulations on finding it
1:40 It took me a while to understand why taking the bishop with the rook is not possible. It's because Qb8+.

Fun fact: Stockfish 16 does not find Rf2 in puzzle 10 at first (at depth 20) Only after you move Rf2, it realises that it is +2.73 for white. It suggested Rd7 (+0.4) before. Or even Nd5 (+0.0)

this is your absolute best video! thanks for this advanced technique!
Nice explanation and good technical details. TY and keep up the good work!
On puzzle 8 I found Ne7+ and after the king moves you follow up with re2 winning the bishop (black queen can't defend because the knight covers f5 and the pawn covers c5
Wow I have improved so much from the first video you made with 10 levels of puzzles
In level 4 I think Rd5 is better than Re5... Re5 there is a defense with Rf4 Qg5, like you said, but then Qxf2+ and QxR on g3 stops the checkmating battery briefly. Still completely winning, but Rd5 finishes it off by force in fewer moves.
Puzzle 2 was hard because after the interference with the rook I couldn't really see a guaranteed victory. Even looked at Nxb5 with the idea of using the pawn for interference
Thank you so much for your videos. Those tactics were really helpful and interesting.
Amazing tactics! Thank you so much! 💙
at 1O:02 Tce5 i think it is not good BECAUSE BLACK PIECES HAVE BRILLIANT MOVES, here there is a check variation with black Qd1+; Rh2 forced; Th4+; Th3 forced to block a check; Txh3 and on (choice1)pawn take h3 there is Qf4+ and after a king move QxTe5 and Qxd8 it's an ending with equal material (choice2 )Rxh3 ;black rook is safe and the ending is good for white with equal pieces. So i think the best move is not Te5 but Td5 to cover Qd1+ if pawn takes d5; Qxd8# if Qxd5; Qf6# if Td8xTd4 ; Qe8# or Qf8# (VERY NICE INTERFERENCE)
Algo suggested your channel and I'm glad it's excellent. Subbed!
I can't believe I solve them all. I literally sat for 2 hours straight to solve them. Level 8-10 are monsters! I almost gave up at the level 10 because I didn't see Rf2 there. Amazing puzzles!
Great stuff! got them all until lvl 7 (which makes your rating very accurate cause I'm a 1600 over the board). On lvl 9 though I would have like to have seen you explore the Black Qa8 line after Be5, which seems like the best defense for black, as after that white wins a bishop with Bxg7 and black can't play Kxg7 as then Qc3+ wins the rook, but black can play Rxe7. And after that white is up a bishop but black has two pawns which seems like it can be held to a draw with perfect play.
I'm proud that I found the solutions of puzzles 1-6 (though I'm 950 in rapid) . And also, wasn't puzzle 4 featured in one of your shorts and there, you told that the answer was an even beautiful Rd5 ?
Absolutely insane that last one
I was waiting for your videooo!!!
As a 1200 elo the first one was pretty easy, but the second one took me almost 2 minutes to find the right solution. Then 3rd puzzle was so easy I premoved it before I was born.

Great, thank you so much, I've learned a lot.
15:38 Bxh7 is not the only forced mate here, there is also mate in 3 Qf7+ Kh8 Qxe8 Nf7 Qxf7#, even tho Bxh7 is cooler and faster
At puzzle 4 Rd5 is mate in 8 and Re5 it is only +6

@Tetracontakaitetragon

Yes, yes it does. It's M8+.
For puzzle No.4 I found Rd5... attacking the Queen. with Rook... exd5, Qxd8#... if Rxd5, Qf8#... if Qxd5, Qf6#.... It is not an interference, but works... I do not use engine, but I think it is better than Re5... Either way it's an unstoppable checkmate ... You are providing a great content... It is real shame that you don't get more likes and subscribers... I guess for all good things you need time...
You forgot to say that in the example if rook takes bishop, black will get back rank checkmated, because white's rook sees the f file and black is unable to block
The 1200-1400 puzzle is actually wrong. Rd5 leads to a faster win with checkmate in 8 moves. If queen takes rook then Qf6#, and if rook takes rook then Qf8#. Aditionally you are also adding a second attacker to the rook on d8. Black's only way to survive a little longer is to give a few meaningless checks and then play Rc8, sacrificing the queen to give a few more checks and ultimately getting checkmated.

Ye I found rd5 not re5
for level 4, rd5 completely forces mate in 8 while re5 gives white a +7 advantage after rf4, qg5, qf2+, kh2, rh4, qxh4. still white is completely winning tho (i found rd5 instead of re5)
Inspiring, bro❤
In level 4 rook to d5 is a lot better better because it forces black to take white's rook
Do you do reaction to chess games and give tips on how to be better or like guess elo or something like that?
beautiful puzzles
Watched this and then my first game on after watching involved me finding an interference to either win the queen or mate, so thanks for the win
9:40 - can we put the other rook ( g3 rook ) in d3 pinning the queen to the rook and forcing it to take the rook and remove the black queen from defending f6 ? i think this also works
The first example is a superb way for the white to lose the Queen and the Bishop for the black Queen, entering Rook/King vs Rook/King/Knight endgame. Nobody I know would play this.
Damn the number 10 was the only one I could not have found, I had move the horse twice but would never think sacrified tours and blocking with the knight, just crazy hahahah
I found rook to d5 on the 4th puzzle. And I’m petty so I put it into the engine and the move is better because of a force checkmate in 7 while rook to e5 is jsut plus 16. And the only reason it’s mate in 7 is because black can check you like 4 times before you deliver mate
It's very nice and I like it.. You are smart guy and funny... 😅😅
Puzzle #4's best move is a little better if you block the rook to d5. Than to e5. Its much quicker methinks
That first example at the beginning was so bad, all they had to do was take with rook as taking with knight would hang the queen

@@DokaIsEdgyno actually I lie, cos rook would be on D6. I am wrong
What happens if Black moves the rook to f4 in the level 4 position, creating a counter-attack on the f2 pawn, while also covering both spaces? It probably leads to a material loss for black, but it should avoid a mate.
in the first example you gave inst the solution for black is to just take the bishop with the rook?
in level capturing the white bishop with the rook is enough to be able to defend against checkmate
9:14 what about rook d5 instead of e5? It interferes the defense of the rook on the 8th rank, where we also can give check mate.
Fore level 2 what if they go Re7, an if pawn takes it’s a free queen. Also, they can’t promote as the queen is guarding the promotion square of the knight
in level 4, how about rook to d5, if he takes with the queen its checkmate , or if he do so with the pawn it is mate, as well if he takes with a rook its mate too
Level 10 puzzle king doesnt need to go a5 or c5 there is b4 also at 31:15
More traps please :) excellent
Puzzle 4 - solution is Rd5 Puzzle 6- when NxR, also possible Qf7+, Qe8+, Qf8#
@cangrexX
6 күн бұрын
puzzle 6 i was looking if someone had found that aswell.. i mean it looks like checkmate too
in puzzle 1 the knight was already hanging
In your issue in so far as "interference" is concern. You blocked a bishop to obstruct the connection between the 'queen' and 'rook' at which way "the rook could just take ('capture') the bishop out" in such a way the x-ray of your queen has no more effect in light of the piece lost of the bishop!
@domingojrtiu179
9 ай бұрын
I see..apologies....you did not point out the continuation of queen to the back-rank which in a beginner's point of view is a therapy of your tactically scenario.
In level 3 the king go to h8 can’t you play rook e7 defending since the pawn is pinned?
Nice video interesting to watch
Omg i actually did level 10. I wasn't able to completely calculate those knight checks beforehand and truthfully speaking wont play the move shown in video in real game but after seeing for a while that the king was forced in such a way that the knight could intercept was not too hard
Hi, In level 4, the move d5 is also serving the same purpose. Don't you think so?
in puzzle 4 the best move is Rd5 not Rd6
Lvl 8 puzzle i think its better to lose a bishop rather than the rook, but i dont know the follow up
In the level2 puzzle queen to f2 would have started a godly attack which is mate in only a few moves
9:22 - Re5 is wrong, it's still winning (+6), but the correct move is Rd5 (M+7).
In puzzle lvl 4 rd5 is also possible
Zach In puzzle 4 Will rd5 will also work ?
rd5 is quick and absolute move for puzzle no.4
On the level four I think of the rook d5 if queen takes on d5 then queen on f6 checkmated If pawn takes d5 then queen d8 checkmate and if rook takes rd5 then f8 checkmate
Bro you are awesome
before level 1 in that position you should have also included the Rxd6 move, although Qb8 will win but you did not explain that move.
In puzzle 6 if kinght takes then queen to f7 is also checkmate in two
for level 4 i think rook d5 is also a winning move
9:22 Re5 is winning but a much better move would be Rd5 which forced a mate in a max of 7 moves.
Im so happy n grateful that I clicked on this video...my knowledge was stuck on pins, discovered attacks and folks...this opens up a new dimension and point of view for me. I dont know why Levy never told me this😂. Now lets get to work...im 600 elo btw😔

I am confused. Does rook to d6 work as well on puzzle 7? It looks more forcing than Bishop d6 cause it threatens to take the queen.
@thechessnerd

Hi! Rd6 doesn’t work since you will need to rook to inflict checkmate on h5 at the very end of the puzzle. Let us play Rd6 for example. Rd6, Bxd6, Nf6+, gxf6, Rg1+ and Kh8… now white can’t mate. Although Rd6 deflects the queen off the f6, you give the rook that allows you to play Qxh7!+ with mate in the solution :)
