Hey I am a retired doctor, I am a NASA astronaut, I am a marathon runner......and I have PD Wow..... But how about I am Normal Norman, and I have to go to go work for the man 40 hours a week, to pay the mortgage and feed 4 people....and I have PD. I also have no financial backup. So when I stop working, I lose my house and health insurance, and am on the street, with my family.

She is still so young & beautiful. Not sure how many decades I have been fighting PD honestly, but celebrated my 60th bday last November like a super victory, although my PD was only diagnosed a few long years ago. Last winter I almost lost my life to starvation thought to be due to my PD but a very bad gallbladder was also diagnosed also when I weighed only 73 pounds and could no longer even keep water down without throwing up. Fortunately an ultrasound showed the culprit and I’m still here but after the flu this winter, back under 80 pounds again. My normal weight was at least 115 lbs. so I keep praying and eating, trying to keep a good sense of humor LoL. The lighter side is the only one I can grow into, I’ve accepted. Low dose meds to stay down help tremors very much. I wish everyone with Parkinson’s a successful journey. We must insist that we have Parkinson’s and it doesn’t have us. GBU all. :)

I'm afraid that a focus on having a good attitude with which to adapt to the rigors of Parkinson's might lead to a certain fatalism regarding the progression of the illness itself. Yes, one should have a good attitude but one also should never accept that progression cannot be slowed by various measures, or that palliative treatments cannot be fine-tuned to combine with measures to slow progression such that a good portion of overall function is preserved.

I wish somebody would help me I have Parkinson's. I feel like the life has been sucked right out of me. All the doctors around here seem to be a bunch of amateurs I'm getting nowhere. I'm a Vietnam veteran. All just seem so hopeless

Exercise, eat sensibly, and (try to) get a good night's sleep. Even little things like going for a 30-minute walk helps. I'm having a hard time as our Boxing Classes for Parkinson's are currently closed, but thankfully coach is putting the classes online for the time being. kzread.info/dron/IOEay08W_JZC8iaA8yvung.html

I am also a Vietnam veteran, diagnosed with Parkinson’s one month ago. Did you know that exposure to agent orange in the Vietnam war frequently causes certain problems, like type two diabetes and Parkinson’s disease. You might have a claim with the veterans administration coming in your future if that also describes you.

@@pastorpresent1 Yes I filed a claim in February of 2018. I was awarded 90% disability in September of 2020. There are several diseases caused by Agent Orange. Heart disease prostate cancer liver cancer and many others Sometimes these take many decades to show up. I have a cousin who's 75 and just got awarded for prostate cancer as he was in the Navy from 64 to 67 off the shores of Vietnam.

Lorenzo, See if you can find a neurologist with a specialty in movement disorders. They are the pros. And I see a counselor on a regular basis, not a bad idea when going through tough times.
