10 lessons from my first 10 YouTube videos (and one lesson I still need to learn)

When I started KZread, I committed myself to making 10 videos. Just 10 videos and after that, I'd be allowed to quit if I wanted. Now that those 10 videos are up, I've learned a few lessons along the way (and still have a lot more to learn). Hopefully, those can be useful to you too.

I agree with every single thing you said and am very much in the same situation! Newbie, introvert, doing it for fun and it’s great! 😊 And the classroom is the way I see it too. My only advice to you would be to get an external hard drive, if you want to save your material and project. It does add up quickly! I have a bit of experience with editing from before, but it’s like the more you learn, the more you want to do, and so it goes faster over time but it takes the same amount of time, if that makes sense 😅 I’ve been subscribed for your channel for a while but I haven’t watched that much yet, I got a good vibe from you and have so many channels (small ones) that I want to get to know. So I’m catching up! But I look forward to watching more of your videos! And hi, I’m one in the room 😊 Happy to have found you!

Yeah, welcome \o/ Thanks for stopping by, saying hi and for the advice - I've indeed starting using an external hard drive which helps :) And I definitely see what you mean about editing.

This has so much great advice! Every time I have used music recently, KZread has told me I am violating copyright! Ugh. I’m so glad you have already learned so much. Predicting video success is still quite difficult - for me at least. 💛

Thanks ^^ About music, I thought the problem was with editing, but that's another issue then. Where do you get your music from? I just use what's available in KZread Studio and never had an issue. Hope this helps :)

@@Curious-Cat I use the music in my editing software, iMovie. Based on your last image, I’m guessing that’s not how you edit either. 😃

@@booksimnotreading Interesting! If you use what's under "music" in "audio & video", my understanding is that it's lifted from your own library (the music app on your laptop), so there is no guarantee that it has free copyright. Hope that makes sense and sorry if I'm explaining what you already know 😅 I do use iMovie to edit too, but I just jumped in there and started playing with it so maybe I do it in a weird way? 🤣

I do basically no editing and upload straight from my phone and it still takes ages to make things sometimes. Smaller channels are the best, I don't really like bigger channels because you can't interact with them, commenting on each others videos and getting to know people is the best part of booktube and is also the best way to get new subscribers in the beginning. The I'm So Annoyed tag is my biggest tag ever too, people love that tag.

I totally agree that connecting with other people on Booktube is the best part

Thank you! I think it's a classic: once you start making things, you don't consume them in the same way, you look at the craft too. I definitely see that with writing & books as well.
