From what I know I would recommend Larnaca , pafos , or paralimni . Most of the crime is committed in Limassol and Nicosia so the smaller towns have very little crime . We live in the Larnaca area which I would never change because we're only 10 minutes from the airport and coast .

I like to travel in Italy and Spain. I love the culture and the people. In the summer however it is too hot for my northern skin. Travelling in Autumn and Springtime is wonderfull for me and in the very south even the winters are nice and you can enjoy outdoors activities. However I couldn't live there. Yes prices are cheap compared to Northern en Western Europe. But the bureaucracy is terrible in all southern countries and unemployment rates are high, incomes are generally low. It is ofcourse different per country, Spain would be the best in that perspective, they really improved over the last decades with good highways, high speed train, etc. Southern France is great but expensive and inhabits only a very small part of the mediterrenian coast. If you are financially independ or retired then some of the above arguments wil be a non issue. What peoply generally also underestimate is if you are going to live in another country and don't want to live in a expat or retirementclub bubble, you have to learn the language, you have to involve in local culture and events. Otherwise you will be always a stranger. I speak from experience here. Most visitors , winterers, expats and retirees however unfortunately only search for a better climate and are not interested in the wealth of culture and history all the mediterrenian countries have to offer. When I retire I will stay in Western Europe but I will travell off season more into this countries for longer periods of time. My wife already speaks French and Italian, and I will learn Spanish the next years. Already looking forward to that.

I would always take into consideration the fact that the whole Mediterranean region is EXTREMELY earthquake prone -southern Italy was hit by a massive earthquake/tsunami in early 1900's that killed about eighty thousand people -the area around Izmir was hit by a massive quake several decades ago -tens of thousands killed.Have to be realistic about these things!

All Mediterranean cities mentioned and those not mentioned are very nice choices and all are beautiful! I might be biased but the greatest combination of prices, beauty, nice weather, lifestyle, variety of landscapes in close proximity, philosophy of life and DEATH TOO, having the only religion that is apocalyptic (revealed by God) and not man-created or man-distortion of the actual apocalyptic religion, that is Orthodox Christianity, is my country Hellas (Greece). Even if you only care about looking at natural beauties, living calmly with locals it is the best choice, but Hellas offers much more than that for those who are willing and capable of discovering

@@rid.h.tom.4296 everybody talks from personal experience or lack of it. Thus there is a subjective truth and perception about religion, faith God etc, but also an objective one. It's hard to prove my claim, and this is not something I care about, but I stand by what I said 1000%, I am just saying there are absolutely plenty of proofs for the interested one to see and who is capable and has the eyes. Of course anyone who is really interested can learn about Orthodoxy from many pathways, one of which is to get to know some recent Saints like Saint Paisios. Plentitude of books even in English, even on Amazon in kindle format. Even the miraculous life of only one such Saint who did what he did as a member of Orthodoxy, and was like a God on earth, or Saint Porfirios, is enough to prove my claim, because no other religion has something similar. Anyway, I respect your comment, since you can't perceive how sweet is honey if you haven't tasted it,but I stand by my claim 1000% because I would be liar if I said otherwise.
