As a kid I would fall asleep to this noise since at the time AC's were built this way. As the years progressed AC's dont make these noises anymore and are extremely quiet, which actually bother me a ton, I cant believe people thought these kinds of AC's were "too noisy" and dont let some people fall asleep, this is the most soothing, most secure noise to my brain. hearing this tells me its bed time and the picture and feeling that come to my mind is a dark but very dimly lit room that is cold enough for you to bundle up under a blanket to keep you warm, but not too cold where your shoulders freeze up, just the right amount of cold where the warmth of your blanket is enough.

when you have your face in front of the cold air ... that feeling, it feels like your free and flying.

I spend all my life in Saudi Arabia with this sound and now I'm living in Sweden for studying I miss this life really I feel very coold every night but without this voice since 4 years ago and I hope to go back there with that hot weather it is fantastic and nice for me hahah it is super cold here my second country all love.

My Grandmama was my light growing up. She had an old lakehouse, and a window unit in all bedrooms. I remember they were big huge rooms with high ceilings. Her room was the biggest, at the front of the house. Every morning, I left the loft and crawled in bed with her and this sound is what was humming. Grandmamas arms around me and the big rectangled box pouring out freezing air. THAT was safety, and the best sleep ever. What I would give today to crawl in Grandmamas arms again. Thanks for this sound. My whole family sleeps to this. (Including the 8 week old lil boy that Grandmama didn't get to meet.) Thank you for the memories.

My friends think I'm nuts, but I actually love the old school window A/C units and prefer them over central units. It seems like the coolness and quality of air they put out is superior to anything else and the smooth droning hypnotic sound is just a bonus. If I ever win the lottery, I'm going to be the only mansion on the street with a unit hanging out of the bedroom window.

Best sound for 2 reasons. It reminds me of summer time. Living in AZ having AC is a must and summer is full of ACs going off all night. I remember it being late at night and just listening to the AC and slowly drifting away into a calm sleep. The 2nd is it reminds of a motel AC, when you get there and it's all late at night so you just go straight to bed and you feel the freshness of the pillow and sheets, its dark and the blinds are closed but you get just a hint of light coming in on the edges from the parking lot lights and you let your mind relax and close your eyes.. only to wake up to a cold room but its a peaceful sensation

Ahhhh here it is!! Looked through several other air conditioner videos and they just sound like wind blowing. This is what I was looking for. That hum/buzz sound. As a kid growing up in the 90’s we didn’t have central air until 2001. We had one large window unit that cooled the whole first floor. Upstairs, our bedrooms were hot and stuffy. On the hottest summer nights, we would all sleep downstairs in the living room. Sleeping to this sound in that chilly A/C was the absolute best.

This is hands down the best A/C compressor sound I can find that doesn't just sound like a fan or wind blowing. I would highly recommend you try to make one where the compressor kicks on and off throughout the recording. That would be awesome!

This makes me cry because when I was 7 The summer would be the best time because I used to sleep in my brothers room while he played video games and watched tv. I loved the way the controller sound it was so soothing and relaxed me The air conditioner would fill the room with cold air as i layer under the covers thinking everything was perfect I really miss those times But we moved and now he has covid and a gf. And he’s 19 so he’ll be moving out soon ☹️

So it seems that many of us that prefer this video of the others is because of the soothing buzzing sound you hear coming from vibrating plastic or old compressor. It very much is a unique sound that not many things can replicate exactly to help us fall asleep. Cheers for this. the buzzing put me right to sleep in the winter...

When I use to live with my great grandfather R.I.P when I was 19 he use to have one of these types of ac units in the room I use to sleep in...this was the around the time I was always playing on my Xbox 360 either playing gears of war 2 horde mode or yughio online and the couch that I use to sit on to play the game would be right in front of the AC unit... so all my friends on Xbox would always comment on how relaxing the sound was when I had my mic on.....I was known as the kid with the ac background sound 😂😂😂 I have so many great memories back then when I could just have a part time job and not have real bills and play the game all night long with my ac blasting cold refreshing air on a hot summer night but those days are long gone and the remembrance of this amazing sound is all that is left....thank you for giving me a little piece of nostalgia...GOD BLESS EVERYONE

This is the kind of sound that I like listening to alone in the room in the dark. The only light is the one for the screen and the vents blowing constantly on your face clearing your mind. Amazing

As a child this 1 a/c cooled the entire house off.We made it through 105 degree days in Ga,miss the old days.My mom was alive and Dad was Healthier.I slept in the living room with my Sister.We loved each other back then and omg the house was comfy.Here we are mom is gone.Dad and sis stay with me in a 5 bedroom House,3 car garage,3 full baths.Central air conditioning and heat fire place in each bedroom.Multiple flat Screens throughout the house and a in ground pool.I’ve never been so miserable 😩 in my life.All we do is sit around and talk about each other,spread rumors.God help us!! Lost all guidance when we buried momma.She told us money doesn’t buy happiness....

This is how I get through the night when my AC isn’t in my bedroom window

We just switched from manual to inverter tonight and my husband and I can't sleep with the quiet humming of our new AC, plus the on and off bc it's on Energy saving mode. It seems like we're gonna miss our old AC more than we thought. Thank u for this!

One time many years ago our city was the hottest it had been in decades, nearly the heat of the Sahara. We’d been too poor to pay to fix our home AC so my parents set up a comforter and sheet on the ground in their room and we all sat next to the window AC to keep cool. That night was one of the most calming, and this exact sound out us to bed. Well, to sleep on the ground lol.
