I actually have a theory about Grahm's past based on an easily missable detail- in the Wild Appalachia quest Untold: Death and Taxidermy, while hunting the Beast of Beckley the two proprietors of Priblo's Curios use bait ordered from a hunting company called SMARTY'S Traps n Bait. There's no direct mention of a PERSON called Smarty, but considering Grahm's love of meat and work as a salesman, there might be some sort of connection to this pre-war trapper company.

That's really interesting! Great find. I actually ran that side quest relatively recently but did not pick up on that at all. I hope we do get some additions for his backstory at some point, similar to how Aries has been fully fleshed out now!

@@UraniumFever76 I have an idea :)) make a camp where usually Grahm spawns :)) that might work. I will give it a try tomorrow and post an update here.
I actually hope they *don't* make 76 a simulation in the canon. While there are some goofy bits (Helvetia, the costumes, Nuka World on Tour, etc.) there's also some great stuff (Ramani's Appalachian Brotherhood, early Enclave, mole miners which could be the antagonists for a horror movie by themselves) that I want to stay around in the in-game universe.

I think to me that's what makes it quite an interesting concept. Like how does the simulation function? Does it include events that happened already? Or is everything that happened not real?

@@UraniumFever76 I think it's an interesting train of thought which could be looked into from the pre-war side of things as well- namely if/when they had the technology to do such things. In Fallout 3, we have Vault 112 with a very similar premise with the residents in a simulation and strangely due to a comment from a robobrain in it, seems to have closed its doors in 2075- before the war started, and notably before the reveal of Vault 76 which apparently would have been 'completed' for 6 years at that point. Certainly enough time to test the tech in 112 before installing it in 76. To make a world close enough to the world outside, it would likely need to be ran by an Enclave- controlled ZAX AI being fed intel from across the nearby wasteland, to even know of things like the Brotherhood and the many different kinds of radiated flora and fauna that were developing outside. MODUS certainly fits that role with how it was connected to pre-war spy satellites though it would be strange to include itself into a post-war simulation, as well as either including or fabricating communist and alien locations across the wasteland. I personally think it would be possible but not likely due to evidence not lining up.

Given how Tranquility Lane of Vault 112, one of the most advanced Vaults, was entirely in black-and-white, I doubt that the entirely of Fallout 76 is a simulation. Especially if it was a Vault Tec thing Plus, the Operation Anchorage simulation has a very linear and sometimes stiff action. I doubt that the simulation could detail such a wide and varied map and consequences if Operation Anchorage is anything to go by.

It's meta. They are referring to the fact it is a game.
Grahm is just such a great character despite having very little to no backstory about himself nor his life prior to being mutated other than the fact he decided to become a merchant and the bits of how Meat Week came to be, and his VA just puts his all into his dialogue haha. If we ever get a new story-based update I hope Grahm gets a small role in it, not anything big but something similar to the NPCs that show up at Fort ATLAS to complain to the Brotherhood, he just appears to talk to you then maybe show up later in the story just for the sake of it but do nothing big.

I absolutely agree mate. Would like to see him given the Aries/Calvin Van Lowe treatment like he's getting with the next update!
I think "nothing is real" is a reference to the quest in fallout 4 far harbor where you have to track down the children of atom deserter and she keeps yelling "ive seen nothing. Nothing is real!"

That's a really great catch! Didn't make that connection.
The dialogue between Grahm and Sofia sounds like it happens close to when she first returns to Earth (concussion, not knowing where she is, not knowing what a super mutant is yet, etc.) I wonder if it could trigger if Grahm happens to be nearby when you first meet her in person. Does anyone know if the path he travels goes by her crash site?

That's actually a really good point. Her initial line sounds exactly like that... I wonder if it's even possible to catch them speaking because doesn't she spawn in an interior cell?

If you have your CAMP set up in a location his route takes him through, maybe you could get it to trigger, since I have seen him in people’s CAMPs on occasion. But it’s entirely likely that the conversation is cut content.

Thanks again for featuring my screenshots. I really appreciate it! Stellar video as always. Nothing is Real is also references in a Beatles Song, "Strawberry Field's Forever." Where Lennon explained everything is an illusion. McCartney's view, the lyrics reflect Lennon's admiration of the nineteenth-century English writer Lewis Carroll, particularly his poem "Jabberwocky" (Could be the inspiration for The Snallygaster and Scorched Beast). The idea here is to confirm that this is a simulation. And if it is, it makes a lot of sense why a lot of things are not canon.

@@UraniumFever76 I failed to mention that the snallygaster is a Chimera known for centuries to live in the american by German Immigrants. Its name meaning Quick Ghost. But Snallgaster sure sounds like something you find in a Alice in Wonderland Book, but the Scorched Beast could be a Lewis Correll Reference to the Jabberwocky. I wouldn't dismiss the idea that Nuka Cola caused ghouls so casually. After playing Fallout 4s Nuka World DLC, I got that vibe pretty heavily. To hear it even mentioned in F76 gives the notion that much more credence.
The ally Katherine Swan also has some dialogue that infers that we may be in a simulation.
this theory that fallout 76 only has a simple simulation would make so much sense. That would explain the lore inconsistencies and a lot of other things. In addition, the next expedition would be in New Jersey, so we should expect more responses. If this is true then we must admit that the developers were really very clever. Moreover, it seems more and more that there is a link between the pre-war government and the sect of Lovecraft. There are surprisingly many in Appalachia and knowing that the sites are underground that the region is mining, it could be worrying.
@UraniumFever76
Жыл бұрын
Yeah that's something I've noticed as well. Appalachia has so many buried heads compared to the odd one or two in the other titles. What makes Appalachia so special in comparison I wonder? And yeah would be really cool if that's why we might be going to New Jersey.
I doubt that the Enclave Bunker is the target for the 5th dig because it would have been breached by now. I believe they are in fact digging to China and will soon be an expedition location given to us by the Enclave.

So, and I am guessing since it seems fairly straight forward about Operation Piercing Viper. First stage; build the secret Chinese base near what was to be a American government redoubt. Second stage; take control of the Hornwright mining vehicle. (Side note: would be interesting if there was and entry or holotape somewhere talking about how they found out about the Motherlode and how they took control, bnut that explains the damaged Motherlode the player meets with in the game.) Third and finally; the reason for Operation Piercing Viper is use the Motherlode and invade the WhiteSprings Bunker and kill off what they believe is an existing or maybe the last of the American government and then declare that China won the war, hence the name of the operation. Question does anyone who has ever worked on 76 served in the military or even talked with anyone in the military because, I am of the opinion, they do not know much if anything about the military in anyway, even with this being an alternate timeline.

Something neat about grahm I discovered the other day. I don't know if the voice line was generic or new. But him and chally walking up the road to middle mountain cabins and I thought he would keep following the road because I saw him way down the hill. Well, he actually turned and walked into the camp and took a path around the outside of the center platform. He passed Vera's shop and got to the brahmin bar and said something that sounded location based: he remarked that the place was different now, or it changed. I want to say he said he liked it the new way but I can't remember. It was a neat surprise to hear him talk about it as if he noticed that blue ridge moved in
I heard the Graham and Sophie dialogue the first time I got these two together 💚

Oh that’s awesome! Glad it has actually worked in game for some players.
Is Grahm talking about the Gangster stand up you find in the game ? And not sure what dialogs were exactly with different camp npc but you have to be close to his path and he will hang out chattering for a bit . Great stuff and love finding new things . There is an interesting find of a bot and bodies with notes near east border and if you go to mall then east then north near border soon you see a dot on your compass . Go to the dot and listen and read. Interesting .
The Simulation theory might be Bethesda setting up an out incase of conflicting lore or a possible de-canonization of the game as a whole. It would also explain why replayable mission are replayable.
