I know. I was putting in work on DriveClub the motorcycle dlc, and I only fucking needed 2 more which were online…. Thing is the day I bought the game I have no damn clue that was the day the shut down the servers -_-

I appreciate that games like Ghost of Tsushim, Horizon ZD/FW and God of War 4 have enjoyable platinum trophies. The best platinum trophies are the ones that don’t require bull shit and instead require you to just explore the world and complete most of the side quest and stuff. The games that have missable trophies or trophies that require an absurd level of skill or luck are frustrating.

It took me 6 years to get the platinum in Star ocean: The last hope. The rarest trophy I have to this day and probably no other will ever surpass it.

I remember the days of trying to get the Platinum for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 on PS3. Everyone on the Gamefaqs board banded together for 4+ months to figure out the online Team Missions. All of us were online for hours each day, discussing and creating new techniques (the "Rachel Twirl", which made Rachel invincible as long you did nonstop dodges in a specific pattern and allowed that player to be a decoy, in particular was a giant breakthrough), scouring the internet for videos of people from other regions of the world testing stuff as well, training together and more. That was a wild time. I even ended up making the Team Missions FAQ on that board and a bunch of videos detailing glitches and loops after our group pulled it off at last, just to help other people who would come after us beat these insane missions. And this video doesn't even come close to describing the insanity of those later missions: multiple bosses at once that need lightning fast reflexes, the lag that came with playing online making things even worse, glitches and wonky boss A.I. (I've seen Elizabeth once do like 4-6 animation cancels to hit me with a faster than should be possible for her grab attack, because the A.I. wanted to use all her moves at once on me >.

I've platted Far Cry 3, primal, 4 and 6. Far Cry 5 though has a couple trophies relating to online multiplayer which simply nobody plays. I wasn't able to play Far Cry 5 until the following summer after release because of work and college and can't ever get the plat cause of it

It really sucks when the platinum trophy is rendered permanently unobtainable because of services getting shutdown.

As a platinum trophy I can confirm this

Deep Rock Galactic's trophies aren't too hard to earn, but it takes hundreds of hours to get a platinum. You have to get a gold promotion for every character. Promoting one character one time takes roughly 10-15 hours of gameplay. And you have to do that 7 times per character to get to gold. So that's 280 hours minimum to do just that trophy

Even tho the Plat for Hollow Knight now has been obtained by about 1,3% of the players, it was an absolute nightmare to get the "Embrace the void" trophy as my last one needed for the plat... fighting every single boss in the game (like 42 or smth) without dying once, had me just mentally destroyed at times

There’s an invincibility exploit a lot of trophy hunters use to get the Hollow Knight plat. No way that many people did the pantheons legit.

@@snorseburger7381 I got the plat for it legit on my PS4, but it took over 250 hours. Only 30 of which was playing the actual game, the rest was all just trying to do the pantheons. I also did Wolfenstein 2, took over 2 weeks' worth of tries so good job on that! I think you could do Hollow Knight since it and Wolfenstein 2 require a similar kind of tenacity.

Literally my only achievement left for that game. I remember boosting some of the online ones back in the height of its popularity. I knew I wouldn’t have that patience for the last achievement. It’s funny cuz I think they only have it down for 10 gamerscore on xbox.

After going through the game for required amount of times in each difficulty and watching some reference videos, you know enemy and painkiller placements by heart. A once thought to be impossible platinum trophy is now officially mines. But yea that last level had my heart pounding knowing all of the progress can go to waste at the cost of a single mistake. It took me about 4 tries, I failed once by missing the sniper shot in the helicopter early on, another at the end of the lobby shootout with the armored machine gunner. I dont remember the other fail, it might've just been 3 tries after all. I just know I couldnt have achieved the time trial permadeath mode had I attempted it after a long break in between getting the other difficulty modes because I wouldve forgotten all the shortcuts and level layouts.

Monster Hunter World. Getting both a giant and miniature gold crown on every monster can be quick or take thousands of hours since it's entirely based on RNG. Every monster has a size that's generated by RNG when you start the mission, and there's no way to know what that size is until you finish the mission. So you have to hunt or capture a monster that falls into the upper or lower limits of the possible RNG sizes, which almost never happens (there's like a 3-6% chance when you start a mission the monster will give you a gold crown if you win) There's some event quests that will give you a guaranteed gold giant crown or miniature gold crown, but most of it is just completely random and would take hundreds to thousands of hours to get. I've played the game for over 350 hours and I'm only at the halfway mark for either of those 2 gold trophies.

I'm at like 1.5k hours and I barely have all the large crowns for the base game. The forced RNG is easily one of the worst parts of the game, because it turns the great game into more of a loading screen simulator. You already have to reload areas constantly for the rare pets you can catch. But monster crowns are even worse, because you get better chances with certain investigations, so you have the option to try and collect these investigations, so you can load into those 5 times, before you have to collect new investigations. Toward the end of my last jump into MHW, I started using a size tracker and even with that I just stopped playing after I spent like a week restarting Vaal Hazaak quests for hours every day. It's just tremendously bad design. It's not "hard" per se, but it's incredibly frustrating.

I have the plat for MHW and about two thirds of the crowns needed for the IB plat. My total play time across MHW and IB is approx 1200 hr. I would be over the moon if Capcom changed the RNG for crowns in a future release. It saps the fun out of the game imo. It's not a test of skill. There would likely be fan boys that would hit the roof if it occurred though. Claiming it's "dumbing down"...

It took me around 200 hours to get basic platinum trophy and 350 hours to get iceborne platinum. Most of this time was looking for crowns. Basic game took me much less time because I was hunting crown during an event which introduced event quests with increased chance of having a crown sized monster in it. It was more complicated with iceborne. Lots of investigations and measuring monsters. Measuring monsters is the most efficient method but it's not fun and not what this game is about. If you focus specifically on crowns it's still pretty time consuming but not that time consuming as if you just play normally hoping to eventually get them all by the accident.

My most proud Platinum is Demons Souls, the original. That game was an absolute brutal time sink. It took me a year and a half to get.

You could have other players drop stuff online to grind trophies though at least that’s what I did and also helped others by paying it forward. So it’s difficult but not as difficult as anything on the list.

I recently started playing Kingdom Hearts 1,5 Final Mix, and it's only 2500 enemies you need to down. Doable and probably comes natural if you're going for the other Gummi Ship trophies. The real bother in that game is the grinding. The game itself is fun, but grinds are wearing me down. “Get x of y z amounts of times, where y has a drop rate of 0,fu for every ten hours spent penguin smashing the controller.” Sorry to hear about your grandma passing. She seemed like a really cool lady, and she was right about the game; it is a gem.

I got the Tetris Effect Platinum.. Worked HARD for that one, had to learn new techniques and t-spin.... It was a bitch for the SS seriously? trophy. I used a turbo controller for the 1 million tetrimino spins because I still had about 600,000 spins left by the time I got the rest.. Took a turbo controller several hours of constant spinning in zone mode..

I have 13 bloodborne plats 😅 My love for that game went waaay overbord! I start making new psn accounts and speedruning the plat. My best time was 14hours,with grinding.. i even played in 3accnts at "same time". (Not simultaniasly). I was kid.. i thought someone would send me praise 😝😝😝😝

Nice 👍 I see nothing wrong with this. I know people who have done this with all sorts of games. I to have played loads of games probably to much. Resident Evil 4 is one... Had it on GameCube, got it again to play on Wii, then on PS3 & PS4 🤣its my favourite Resident Evil. A friend was showing me his Oculus Rift or whatever its called recently... It has RE4 too 😭 Looks really good on there too. Are you going for a 14th Platinum?

I played gran turismo 3 a ton! And I remember… the 24 hours of LeMans… was LITERALLY 24 hours of racing. You can pause and go to work but you can’t turn off your system/tv etc. Had to break down the math of tire compound wear vs. how often it will mean you pit stop and how many laps you’re gonna do in 24 hours etc etc. Wild

Just imagine someone trying for so long to platinum Grand Turismo 5 and then the servers shut down.

Online trophies are 5 min thing, so if somebody went for platinum before servers were shut down than he got online trophies no problem

The one for tetris effect is actually worse, you need SS everywhere so also every single gamemode not just the story mode. The story mode is relatively easy compared to some of the other gamemodes like sprint...

Giving up never felt so freeing.

Very nice. Lovely series of games. I'm sure they have now added a difficulty harder than that 😲 Brutal I think? It was Brutal! but rewarding when I'd completed it. Uncharted 2 was probably one of my favourites, the multiplayer in 2 was the best in series for me. Loved it!

When mentioning Crash 4, I remember Caddicarus' video on how mind-numbing it was to do a completionist run for it. He managed to get it along with the platinum though, and made a funny video to show the painstaking process he had to go through.

I dont think Caddy elaborates enough on how good at Crash games he actually is. Like, yeah ha ha funny man do a funny, but the actual feats that he has pulled off in EVERY Crash game are nothing short of legendary.

Crash 4 is a game I have no desire to even try to Platinum. That game made my chest hurt. It's great, but oh boy.

Falcon, would you consider doing a video on some of the most grindy platinum trophies? (ie. games that aren't hard, but are instead time-consuming or tedious) I feel the Star Ocean 3 Remaster from this video's list is a good example.

Diablo 2 remastered is another. That game is long and grindy as fuck due to having to get every character to complete the game in hell difficulty, reaching level 99 with a hardcore character on hell mode. Literal months upon months of grinding

My most recent platinum is in Cuphead, including the new DLC. While it is not nearly as hard as some of these games, and there are no online requirements, I still feel immensely proud and sunk endless hours into that effort. Beating the base game on Expert difficulty was a hell of a ride.

You guys should do a list of the easiest platinums, just for laughs! You could include the obvious stuff like Jazzpunk and Undertale, but there's this game I played called Metagal, and I got the platinum in less than an hour because you only really need to beat one level.

Great to see Star Ocean as it’s not a game you see on many lists but you definitely should have mentioned the tedium of the battle trophies which are a huuuge time sink that take up most of the massive play time you mentioned

Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition has a trophy "My Kung Fu is Stronger" which requires you to get mastery with all 28 fighters - One of the conditions to complete mastery is to have played 24 hours as the fighter

I've been watching Gameranx countdowns for years, and this is the first I've seen my bemived Gran Turismo represented. And in a moment of serendipity it was while playing GT5..... I shit you not

My hardest trophy ever Platinum personally was SnowRunner on PlayStation 4. It took me about 6 months to do, between work and being a dad 😁.

​@Michael Westen my dad's dead. And he was a drunk who used to abuse me and my mom, left alot of unresolved emotional issues when he passed away. Sometimes not having a dad is better than having one.

I'm currently at 344 platinums. Finished Elden Ring and Strangers of Paradise, waiting on the new borderlands now :)

OMG! I feel vindicated! I was all about to post about how SO:4 eclipses all these so called hard Platinum's. And surprise, surprise! You actually got this on your list! The hardest trophy (IMO) to accomplish in this game (which wasn't mentioned) is getting all 100 battle trophies for everyone of each character. Some of which are luck based and/or are completely impossible except for certain spots in the game (so you'll definitely need a guide). The character endings one is also a very difficult one and is impossible to accomplish in just one playthrough. This games combat is crazy fun though. I would recommend.

Max Payne 3 was difficult, but was more time consuming than impossible, plus it's notorious for freezing, happened to me twice at the police station!

Loved Max Payne 3. Desperately needs a remastered version

The platinum(0.1% of players have) for Gran Turismo5 was(IS) pretty difficult, especially if you didn’t get the platinum before the Sebastien Vettel update came out, tasking you with keeping up with Sebastian Vettel’s ghost on three different circuits, 2 laps each!

Can confirm. Vettel challenge almost broke me back then, especially the Suzuka time trial. Proud owner of the GT5 plat, but would never do that again.

Got the platinum for Red Dead Redeption 2, no idea how long it took me but i still have nightmares about one of the owls needed for the Zoologist trophy. Took me about 25-30 hours of looking for one damn owl

I got the platinum roughly around the time the game came out. my biggest issue with that platinum was looking for one damn robin. Like it took soooo many hours because for whatever reason it just wouldn’t spawn in my game.

Zoologist was more of a grinding trophy than anything else, it's like the game is scripted, when you're looking for an animal, it takes forever to find the animal but when you don't need the animal, the animals are scattered all over the map....

I'm down to the Mein Leben trophy for Wolfenstein II and the New York Minute Hardcore trophy for Max Payne 3. Haven't started the runs for them yet, but I imagine when I do it's gonna be an absolute nightmare to get through. Especially with Max Payne 3 because of how glitchy that game is. It crashes so often on just regular playthroughs.

Honestly I’m still very proud of getting all if the available trophies in Skyrim Special Edition, including the DLCs. Worth the grind, cool to see the platinum trophy and 100% everywhere

So I actually went and got all the trophies for Final Fantasy X2 and even went and did the 100% story run and it took me SO LONG. The minor things you can miss out on that never come back (like story percentages that go towards the 100% completion) but it was so worth it for the perfect ending.

Ugh, I remembered how you had to be so careful because the percentage didn't tell you exactly how much you've done so you had to hope that the numbers changed when the guide showed that it did. Then in the one chapter when you were just using the cameras, you had to make sure to see even the most insignificant events just for that .1%. I still really enjoyed the game as a whole so it was worth it honestly just for more time to play.

Good job man 👍 I have 495 platinum. Dmc1,2,3,4,5, Crash bandicoot 1,2,3,4, cart Re2,3,4,5,6 Max Payne 3. Dead space 1,2,3 Mirrors edge,1,2 and many many others.)

I miss Vanquish on the list. The ‘tactical challenger’ trophy, which had you beat six challenges. I mean look it up on KZread, vanquish tactical challenge six. The level of responsiveness and mastery it needs; it’s absolutely insane. The one trophy keeping me from getting a platinum on the game.

I platinumed vanquish on ps3 and ps4. Challenges 4 and 6 are pretty damn challenging. It’s a fantastic game but it doesn’t get much love :(

Just like GT5, gran turismo sport is impossibly tough to platinum due to the need for so many race wins, which all have to be in online races where there are some REALLY good players

I have zero platinums. Most achievements are very tedious and not interesting, some are very hard and would require a lot of time to get very good at the game. I just enjoy it, do lots of side content if interesting, if it's a game I really like I do another playthrough. I'm thinking about platinum Elden Ring, really love this game.

Platinum for GT Sport (Level 50) has a completion rate of like 1/10th of 1%. It’s pretty insane to achieve as well….

Wow I did not know that you was going to list GT5!!! I wasn’t trying to get it at first but when I started trying about 2013 it took me the rest of the year to 2014 at 7 AM in the morning and I finally got the platinum!! I wanna also make note of the fact that it wasn’t until I got a force feedback Racing Wheel that I was able to get the platinum! so basically I got the game the collectors edition box and everything which I still have to this day, the day of its release in 2010 and it took me until 2014 to get the platinum!!! (I honestly believe had I had a force feedback racing wheel in 2010 when I first got GT5, that I could’ve platinumed it in about 2 to 3 years?? I was never trying to get the platinum because I considered impossible, up until I got the force feedback racing wheel and discovered how much better I was able to race!! I didn’t get the force feedback racing wheel until 2013 but by that point already had over half the trophies anyways.. )

I'd say Fall Guys should've had a spot on the list since there's one trophy requires you to win 5 episodes in a row

Definitely think kingdom hearts birth by sleep could be on here. You pretty much have to 100% the game 3 times.

DMC 5 is my very first DMC and I am loving it. I saw that trophy and was looking forward to getting the Platinum for it cause I'm a Trophy Hunter and figured it wouldn't be too hard once I got the game mechanics down. After watching this, I don't think I'll ever be able to get the Platinum for it, and I'll just focus on completing the story now and getting better, and not necessarily getting S Rank everytime. Lol

I am a DMC veteran with every DMC plat except for DMCV. DMCV is by far the hardest and not because Hell and Hell - actually, Hell and Hell is probably easier than DMD, period. Weaker enemies, fewer enemies, and less aggressive. Instead it's hard because missions 10 and 14 (I think? I forget. Def mission 10 is, but maybe not 14... point is there are two missions like this) calculate score very strangely to where it is basically impossible to S rank the mission without no-hitting them. You can spend every fight in those missions at SSS the entire duration of the fight and STILL not S rank the mission. So your only option is to do those missions damageless - no-hitting these missions on DMD mode is not so easy. Were it not for those two missions with the weird score calculation, DMC4: SE would be the harder plat for sure.

10 years later and I am still streaming my New York Minute Hardcore attempts.

It may not have been quite as tedious as some of these, but I take pride in my MGS4 platinum trophy.

I would have platinumed Wipeout Omega Collection, but I couldn't finish the multiplayer trophies, and I'd only borrowed the console for a couple weeks

I got the platinum on the original Wipeout hd back on PS3 and that was tough. GT5 on the other hand I'm only missing a few trophies. The really hard thing to beat is the x2010 challenge. To give you an idea of how insane it is.. you are driving a car that's faster then any F1 ever (1500bhp with a weight of only 575kg), it also has tech that's banned in basically all racing (the fan it has creates high downforce letting it turn super sharp). But to add onto that you have to beat one of the best (during this time) F1 race drivers to get gold on 3 tracks. To give you an idea how fast this car can go the current nurburgring nordschliefe record is a modified LMP Porsche with a time of 5min 19. The red bull x2010 is capable of a 3min 16. That's a 20km track keep in mind.

Man i feel proud to have SFV plat! Its indeed one of the hardest i got with MGR & DMC5! I got SFV recently because the online when it launched was so bad but rn its much better but I really had to git gud and its indeed soooo rewarding to have this plat! Can't wait for SF6!

And here I thought you guys weren't going to mention GT. I love Gran Turismo, and looking back at it, I know get why I am always so annoyed at myself whenever I do something short of perfect. Gran Turismo made me this way

I got every achievement on Crash 4, took a while but I did it.

My proudest platinum is definitely GTA V, pretty difficult but very fun and varied trophy list

I'm actually in the process of doing Crash Bandicoot 4, got like 5 levels left for N Sane relics

I feel like there’s a lot of games that think they’re worth more of our time than they actually are.

I have the Crash 4 platinum. The time trials are VERY reset heavy, and are probably the hardest part of perfecting the game. There were only a handful of levels that I seriously struggled getting all the boxes on (hello Crash Landed and Toxic Tunnels), for a lot of them weren't too bad after beating the time trial for them.

I got the platinum for Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom, i think i qualify as a sigma male

I can't believe that I wasted so much time in Star Ocean to get the one specific battle trophy to beat this boss in an extra dungeon that had to be done in one go with the character that summoned help. It took me hours and when I finally got it, I never played the game again lol The PS trophy Welch's Biggest Fan was one I thought I screwed up because I didn't have one of the beginning pieces of armor, and the only way to get another one was to get a lucky chest in the same dungeon as the previous thing I was doing. So many hours just for that lol

Crash bandicoots always been the hardest to plat because of the platinum relic times. You can’t get away with gold. It asks for all platinum relic times
