1 score doesn't matter, he kicked 2 field goals over 54 both game winners and it's never mentioned. I love my uncle I miss him a lot my dad's beyond sad every day he knew him best. I love being able to see what he's done, seen this once or twice online. thank you. best uncle best god father, looks just like his son. i finally see it. miss you #1.

We, Miami Dolphins fans, love him. Great player and great sense of humor. In a divisional playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas 1971, Yepremian kicked a 37-yard field goal 7 minutes and 40 seconds into double overtime, ending the longest game in NFL history and sending the Dolphins to the AFC Championship game against the Baltimore Colts (which the Dolphins won to go on to Super Bowl VI). In the 1973 Pro Bowl, Yepremian kicked five field goals to lead the AFC to a win, and was voted Most Valuable Player in that game. He was elected to another Pro Bowl in 1978, and he kicked 20 consecutive field goals without a miss in 1979.

He was always one of my favorites, deservedly so, and I hate when single plays detract from a career. Bill Buckner in baseball (He's gone, too), the Seahawks play call on the goal line in the Super Bowl. I didn't know Garo had already left us until about 30 minutes ago.

He's the reason that the Miami Dolphins were in their first Super Bowl in '71, when he kicked the game winning field goal against the Kansas City Chiefs in the longest NFL game in history.

The great guard on those Dolphin teams, Bob Kuechenberg, never forgave Garo. He felt Garo made light of it and cashed in on a play that could have cost the Dolphins the win. A little bit of overreach by Kuechenberg, but he was a very intense guy. Word is whenever there was a reunion of the 1972 players he would ignore Garo, would not even say hello to him. Sadly, both have passed away. Hope they made their peace before that but I doubt it.

Michael davtyan No. Jim Marshall running the wrong way into his own end zone has to be #1. The Seahawk play is a bad play CALL, not a bad play (the Patriots just executed better). There's a difference. Butt fumble: bad play. Ryan taking seven step drop on what should have been a run play: bad play call.

On the following series, the Redskins came within 6 inches of blocking the Dolphins punt. They would have probably tied the game on 2 special teams touchdowns in the last 2 minutes of the game!

As I recall, in Super Bowl VI, as it turned out, only 9 seconds would separate the Dolphins from being shutout by the Cowboys. Yepremian's field goal, Miami's only score in the 24-3 loss, came with 9 seconds remaining in the first half. Had it not been for Garo's field goal, the Cowboys would own the only shutout in Super Bowl history. Man I wish the Patriots hadn't held the Rams to a field goal in that boring #53 played in Atlanta.

It wasn't boring for anyone who enjoys well executed defensive football. Football doesn't always have to resemble a Madden game.

@eclectica1 I never implied that football always had to resemble "Madden Football", but I'd much rather see 2 or 3 touchdowns scored versus a few field goals, and I'm not alone with these sentiments. This is especially true if I'm paying a few thousand dollars to watch a Super Bowl.

The game should have actually been tied. The Redskins were about to score late in the 4th when we had a wide open receiver in the back of the endzone. But Billy Kilmer's pass got blocked by the goal post cus they were at the front of the endzone at the time. They moved them back the year after that. Redskins could have ended the perfect season if it wasnt for a damn goal post.

What did he say, it should have been 17-0? What about Billy Kilmer's pass to a wide open Jerry Smith in the end zone in the 4th quarter that hit the crossbar on the goal post and bounced away incomplete? That would have made it 14-14. The next season the goal posts were moved to the back of the end zone.
