Dragon's Dogma is one of those games that I was literally watching its trailers and waiting for its release since 2011 but I never actually played it to this day. I got hooked with other games and forgot about it. Glad that your video brought it up and made me remember it. I'm gonna check on it these days while we have some quiet time when it comes to new releases.

Am sad that my fav game hasn’t been mentioned. Dishonored series (1-2). You can go stealth or loud , lethal or non lethal. The environment and abilities allow for different way to approach the same task . Eg to get into a locked room u can possess a rat , find a key or break down the door. In my opinion thats a lot of ways to play it

I remember being a tanky armoured mage/warrior, setting the whole place on fire whilst causing an earthquake to stun everyone, then finishing off the dregs with my 2h sword. Idk who's stronger in lore, but my grey warden would've definitely stomped both Hawke and the Herald in a 1v2.

Origins was certainly superior in terms of variety and will always hold a special place in my heart. I've lost count of the number of times I've played through it and every time still managed to discover something new. That being said, I enjoyed the story and combat in DA2 immensely and really liked Hawke as a character. Also, the Arishok was one of the few NPC's in any game that I found to be truly intimidating.

I'll never forget playing dragon's dogma, I played it over and over and over without getting sick of it, it was so good. Finding that perfect style that suits how you like to play (mine was magik archer) *chef kiss* Also the first time a griffon took off into the air and i ran to a pawn bc she said 'to me' just to get FLUNG into the air by her so i could grab onto the griffon. The first time I legit thought it glitched because she yeeted me so high, then I saw the mechanic just... ALLOWED that. I was mind boggled.

@Brandon Smythe Dragon's Dogma is incredible with just a few miss steps from perfect. The story is not very strong and your companions can become an earful of pointless information but all in all, the blend of DMC, shadow of the colossus and so many other games is well realized in this underrated gem. If you can get past that 30 min intro then you will be met with a vast open world with rewarding combat and bosses and a decent character creator.

@Brandon Smythe also, most of the classes play Drastically different and are quite unique compare to other RPGs. I'll recommend Magick Archer for the first playthrough because of how different and cool it is but in the end all of them are fun to play especially Magic based classes like Mystic Knight, Magick Archer, and Mage, the magic system is one of the best in gaming and only rivaled by Elden Ring after almost 10 years.

One of the most enjoyable ARPG combat systems that you can spec into one style or combine literally ANYWAY you want. Might-Rogue build? Sure. Thief-Mage? Why not? And re-speccing is super easy too. Plus plenty of loot sets with bonuses for certain builds. Really could go on about the gameplay variety. If yuh haven't heard/played this one, definitely recommend looking into it!

I'd occasionally jump back into Nova for the AOE Armour Break and Deathsplosions but from there, the Operator would teleport into the middle of a crowd, then around them, sometimes above, and they'd all be dead in an instant. It was fun as hell and I've still yet to find anything just quite like it. There was also Mirage, who can split apart into 5 clones, and the Kulstar, a cluster-grenade launcher, which has been heavily modified to break up into an average of 5 fully capable cluster-grenades. (It's been awhile so I'll have to fact-check the mods and explosions but needless to say, it was a big-badda-boom). I had to use it sparingly though, as I may have caused a few players to lag out.

Great list as always. At first I was confused why Elden Ring wasn't higher on the list. But after watching this again and thinking about it, it makes sense. The amount of unique builds in Elden Ring is pretty vast and deep. But the playstyle doesn't always vary between builds. So your list makes sense. The different builds and differences as whole can be very nuanced. It's more about finding differences in the stats than changing the playstyle.

I'm happy that new Vegas is in here and so high on the list. The longer I've played the game the more my play style changes. I started off just using whatever did the most damage before going into an unarmed style then into a stealth sniper and finally an energy weapon specialist because the special recharger pistol is a beast, Elijah's advance Lear is great for long range and the holorifle is just straight op with all the energy weapon perks

this is literally why i come back to gameranx. although, i would have included the division 2. you have a wide variety of build types you can use. i got two that i tend to use a lot. a heavy build that makes me an absolute unit, and a skill-based build that lets me fight three enemies, or focus fire one bigger enemy. one of my buddies uses a builds called chatters fury. another buddy uses a variant he calls the sleepers fury. yet another uses a literal glass cannon build (he can deal astronomical damage, but hes extra squishy.) lots of build variety there.

All Souls + Elden Ring were included so I think it's a shame the other modern Monster Hunter titles weren't grouped in like the FromSoft titles. i just got dragon's dogma a few days ago on switch and it's literally so underrated. theres so many different skills you can use as well as vocations/classes. im currently sorcerer but once i play more i might switch around to different ones as well. my absolute favorite part of the game though is the companions/pawns (i love how it's not just one companion either, it's 3 and could hire other player's). and the fact they LEARN from the way you play. except i kind of jump too much when i fight and my pawns learned that from me so i just see them hopping a lot as well 😭 gotta fix my jumping habit but anyways i definitely recommend. it does go on sale a lot i heard but i did end up buying full price with no regrets as it was totally worth the money even though it's from 2012

When I saw the title I instantly thought Elden Ring. I'm still on my first go but I can see this game having great replay value just in terms of making new characters with a different play style. I can see this being played for years. It's kinda overwhelming the options you got to mix and match, and if you want to go for specific builds you got to be very deliberate from the start with how you invest your stats, find specific weapons, gear, spells, or even other items/enchantments that give you certain effects. That's a bit too much for me, I can see how it's fun to maximize potential but at the same time it just becomes a thing of perfection at that point, with a goal of just owning the game. I'd rather just experiment myself and play how I feel like, I'll still aim to find more powerful stuff, combinations etc, but not just follow a recipe. And you got a lot of room for improvement even on just a more basic level, in terms of how well you maneuver in combat, timing etc. Currently I use a shield, katana, and have a few spells on hand, play around with Ashes based on the situation, as for stats I go vigor/endurance, str / dex so far still experimenting with weapons, and enough in faith/mind to use basic spells and spirits.

I like the idea of Dishonored (and even Hitman to some extent) giving you a pretty linear objective with a VERY sandbox way of solving problems. You can be a pacifist, you can be an assassin, you can be a tank. Battlefield is another game that offers so many ways to contribute to the match. You have four classes, in BF1 you have multiple loadouts to those classes, plus vehicle play. I often am a taxi helicopter for snipers. Ghost Recon: Breakpoint earned a spot on this list because of all of the settings you can change on top of gameplay. You can play as a team lead or totally solo. You can play with a class base or realistic damage to enemies. You can limit your abilities and tech. You can role play. I love it.

I think Hades would of been a great addition to this list because of the different play styles each weapon has to offer along with each sub-class for each weapon creating different ways to play. On top of that the unpredictability of the boon system. Then there is also the pact of punishment to then make the game even more challenging, which in turn makes you play more carefully or take more risks. Great list though guys!

So their description of Devil May Cry is semi inaccurate. The difference in characters of part 5 pertains to only a surface level understanding of gameplay (and their footage doesn’t do the combat system justice). The meta of DMC is combo mad (like the videos of someone doing stuff you don’t have the finger coordination to imitate). Each move has a combat property dictating its combo function, the style meter grades combos on variety and flow (not high hit number) and some mechanics are effected by your grade (not just a reward multiplier), the large list of moves is meant to be used in full (having a first order optimal strategy or favorite tactic is not ideal especially on DMD mode), the tech/gimmicks are there so players actions can be in character with who they’re playing (Dante gets theatric in cutscenes, Nero is a bit of a grappler, Vergil goes hard with efficiency and finesse, Lady is fully human while Trish isn’t)

HELL YEAH! Feels great to see PoE getting some love, I've been playing since 2014 (on and off the last few years) and yes, the game is incredibly complex. I basically never played something as complex as PoE. If any of you decided to try the game, just to let you know: The actual game kinda starts at the end of the main storyline, most of you probably won't be able to get past point on your first character build, but, please don't follow a guide or anything, enjoy those 10 acts by yourself, enjoy the soundtrack, the worldbuilding, the scattered story fragments, all of it. It's an incredible experience and I would absolutely pay to be able to feel what I felt playing for the first time once again.

I stopped playing after about 1500 hours I think, but I acquired every single frame (that was available at the time) prime versions as well, and the level of mastery you can get is incredible. I love this game, the only reason I stopped is because I don't really have enough time to play it properly now. And honestly I think the dev team have done a good job introducing new players to the mechanics slowly over time. It only starts to get confusing once things start to open up and you have more options, like when you start to get your second Warframe, but by that point you've already developed some knowledge of things like weapon builds and different mods that you can get.

Warframe could take up half of this list. I've played every game on this list, and they can't touch the depth, complexity, and flexibility of the others. One major reason is that due to the different resources and enemies in the game, you can tailor your frame, it's skills, weapons, pets, team comp, and other metrics to increase the efficiency outside of simply DPS, which often isn't the main or only goal.
