I love to play the Jerry Reed version of Dylan's Don't Think Twice It's Alright. I'm a thumb picker. A much more difficult song is Jerry's Breakdown. As always the key is that steady alternating bass with the thumb. Thanks for these 10. It's always fun to do something new.

@@DarrellBraunGuitar Another guy and myself did an acoustic gig at work and at the end once everyone was well "oiled" we did the "forbidden music shop songs" - stairway and smoke on the water :-D They thought it was great - ha ha!

I like Dust In The Wind. I found myself playin' it once when just noodlin' around with arpeggiatin' the C chord, addin' notes and takin' notes off. I think I am gonna buy this work sheet so I can really master Dust In The Wind.

Speaking of your lady's favourite song, Darrell, am I the only person who thinks there is a marked similarity between the STH phrase and that of Eric Clapton's "Let it Grow", from the Ocean Boulevard album? I think, too, that the Clapton song pre-dates LZ's anthem.

Hey man! I love your videos. I watch most of them. Ive been wanting to learn fingerstyle for quite some time now and this really helped me. Thanks a lot! Although i think a couple of notes in the tabs in the last song ( Dust in the wind) don't match the actual song/ what you're playing. Just thought you should know so you can check it.

Great choice of songs and the tone was sweet especially with the Godin. Learned "Is there anybody out there" years ago but always flat picked it. May try it using the fingers.

Darrell ~ You challenge my fingers and my brain... I enjoyed all the songs with 'hammering'... but I like that you show the notes/staff/key signature ~ cuz I like to READ the music and play from this - rather than memory. YOU are a very good teacher. Please keep it up so that I get sorta' better...! Your previous pick 10 songs helped me too - Simple Man/More Than a Feeling... the pickin' finger positions mess with my brain a little - but I've got them under my belt now. Practice. Ya gotta practice.

I have never played dust in the wind using alternating thumb. Is there any benefit using that method?

+lsedanolg Start with "vice verses" I think it's the easiest of the bunch. Once you have that one down start back at the beginning ☺

lsedanolg You can start by looking for songs you can play with the “pyramid pattern“: bass-3-2-1-2-3. I always use that when I haven't played Fingerstyle for a while to get the feeling of which finger is attached to which string.

Great choices. Great lesson. Thumbs up, but you've got to add details to your descriptions man. Easy, easy. Song titles and time. Don't leave it to your community to sort it out.
