Another good one Nick. One point on starting the car silently ie no radio etc. if you press the volume button down turning sound off before you switch off the ignition. It will start silently.

As a former Mercedes Benz employee and avid car geek, I knew a lot of this. However, I still enjoying watching your videos because there are things I didn’t know. Thank you for another great video and keep up the superb work! Kindest, James.

Hi Nick, Coming back on the topic of the USB adapter. Just to let other know that if you want to play music from a USB stick, there are now USB sticks on the market that have both USB ports on them (USB A and USB C). One on each side of the stick. So it makes your life easy if your computer does not have a USB C port to put music on the stick (by using the USB A port) and to play the music in the car (via the USB C port). Oh absolutely! I was just thinking of the cheapest and easiest way. USB-C memory sticks are the simplest way without dongles however they are a bit more expensive than a dongle on it’s own. They look neater though! 🤓👍🏼

Another assist I have disabled on my 2020 US GLS is traffic sign based speed limit adoption. On highways, sometimes the speed changes unexpectedly, and dangerously, due to the system reading a sign from the access road which runs right next to the highway. Or when there is an express lane with a higher speed limit it may switch between the lower and higher speed, with no consideration if you are, or are not, in the express lane. This is controlled under traffic sign assist settings.

Hey Craig, the heating should work in any mode on Dynamic Select. There’s no such thing as auto start / stop in a plug-in hybrid as the system is way more advanced than just an engine. As it features an engine and an electric motor, they work together and switch seamlessly between them. Of course it will try where possible to stay on electric where it can but when it runs out, then the engine takes over.

Hey Bryan thank you! I think there was a full screen button on MBUX at the bottom which makes the thumbnail for the radio full screen but it’s of course dependant on the resolution of the radio image.

I back out of my driveway into a busy road and the car emergency brakes engaged a few times, even though I was barely moving. It's always annoying when they do because they are SO DAMN LOUD! Atleast I know they're still working...

Ah when connected this just copies what is already on your phone So if you delete it on there, then it won’t appear in the car

Hello Nick , Another request , About how to take care of car ( maintenance etc ) like car paint or car wash accessories etc

On a GLA 250e. Is it more economical on a longer journey to have a higher number of electric miles? Or more bonus miles in the eco display? Also is cruise control economical?

I have a 2020 US GLS with MBUX, and I am able to permanently disable Lane Keeping Assist from the assist settings menu. I have found it will misjudge the lane on curves, and feel the corrective action of applying the brakes is undesirable as it also causes a slight slowdown in speed. I wish it could be on, and only give a warning on the display, but that option does not exist.

When you just tune in to watch some tips and suddenly you see your name pop up😂 Well, thank you for the feature Nick haha. Fun fact: my car turned off the lane keeping assist permanently, I’m guessing it differs depending on the region maybe?

Thank you! I asked Mercedes this years ago and this is what they said. Reversing cameras used to be just mounted on the exterior exposed to the light conditions which made it show the image instantly. Because they were on the outside they got dirty very quickly. However newer styled cameras now have a retractable housing which is good for keeping it clean but the camera when it pops out has to expose for the light (daytime / nighttime / low light etc) and it can take seconds before it actually shows you an image. To combat this Mercedes will have the camera “pre-pop out” as you slow down so when you do select reverse, the image is shown instantly.

G'day there. Lane keeping assist. I have an Australian 2017 E class 350d, I can turn that so irritating Lane keeping assist off permanently by the press if it's button, right side past steering wheel at the button cluster. It seems to me that this would not just be an innovation on the Australian model. Otherwise enjoyed your video, thanks.

Hi Nick great video I always learn something new 😊 Question there is a P symbol on the dashboard that comes on sometimes on my 2021 A Class when I’m driving along it’s near the traction control symbol which is green and I know what that is, but I always wonder what the P symbol is that sometimes appears and what it actually means. Hey CnC Commander, yes TvTproductions11 was right 🤓 It relates to the park assist system however just be aware that quite a few cars do not have this feature anymore due to a United Nations Regulation that came out in 2020. Just double check with your local Mercedes dealership to be 100% sure 🤓

Hi Nic yeah your right, really my Mercedes A Class is a 68 plate which was manufactured in Jan 2019 but my one is a very high spec model A250 Premium plus 4matic in white. I bought my car from Mercedes-Benz Huddersfield in 2021 so I just say it a new one because it’s the new shape A Class thanks for all the tips I know the P is for parking assist now and I really like your videos mate. 👍

Currently I live in Germany, and would like to visit the UK with my A klasse with Multi beam LED, is there a function to let the car "know" that I drive on the wrong side of the road ;) so that it changes where the extra light is? (normally when driving on the right side the right side of the road is extra lit, and in left hand driving countries it is the left side). hope this makes sense, thanks in advance.

It does vary from model to model, but you can check on the centre screen by going to HOME, SETTINGS, LIGHTS, and in here you may see something that relates to driving on the other side of the road. If you go to the front of your car and have a look at the light itself, it should say something like LED High Performance Headlights or MULTIBEAM LED Also where abouts are you based? Hi Nick, Thanks for the video really enjoyed it. My Mercedes’ alarm (A200) has recently been randomly going off in the middle of the night? The alarm comes on and the car starts lighting up until I have to unlock it and relock it for it too stop. It has happened twice around 10.30pm at night and it is quite scary! Sadly no Mercedes-Benz being designed in Germany, speed camera detection / notifications are illegal there so that sort of feature isn’t found on any Mercedes. Oh and the road signs, depending on your specification, A-Class’s can either take the speed limit data from the Sat Nav or if you have an option called Traffic Sign Assist, this will read speed limits from speed signs as you drive past. This is only speed limits though, no other sign is recognised by the system.

Hi Nick Please cover parking for navigation and parking for app connected service which is part of navigation package, with this service customer can find out about the onstreet and offstreet parking location and in few countries automated payment can also be made through Mercedes me profile

Hey Ravi B, no sadly it’s an automatic thing in the UK. They update themselves automatically 3-4 times a year. If you think something’s wrong though, get in touch with your local Mercedes retailer and they’ll be able to check it out for you! 🤓

Hi your videos are very informative and i watch all of them. Can you do a video for the Communications connection for Mercedes Me (Not Internet in the car) as i read on many forums that it is not working including in my car and when you activate Me it shows that online services are not available. I have lodged a case with support but its been three months and they say they are still working on it. Also why does Mercedes not allow tethering to your phone that would just solve it all. Thanks

Hi @@npoleary many thanks for your reply. I have been in touch with the Mercedes me hotline people but they don’t seem to be able to solve it. I see that there are many people with the same issue and they have been requesting mercedes for phone tethering or their own sim card e.g. how it is for Jaguar cars. Without the online functionality the Mercedes experience is lessened. One cannot get any inline info like weather or send the address to the car from the app or worse we cannot even sync the profiles so many settings like route and vehicle cannot be used. No idea why it is not working it did for the first few months after i purchased the car but then stopped one day. Have a good week and thanks again. Ram

Hey Alvin, thank you! Sadly that’s the default screen and every car I’ve ever sat in always does this. There aren’t any settings in the car to change it. The multimedia systems do retain the last source of audio though, so if you left it on radio, then radio would automatically play when you get back in.

I don’t believe so, but anytime the engine is on, it’ll be charging the 12v battery 🤓 More so when driving etc

Hey Michael, thank you! Glad you’re enjoying the videos! No sadly you can’t change the units for temperature on Mercedes as they’re fixed for the country that it’s built for. And for the keys, you can’t program profiles to them as Mercedes have gone with the approach of user profiles on the screen which allow up to 7 users.

Hi Nick, Is there a hint on how to switch on the main beam when in Automatic mode for my EQA? I notice that the lights raise and dim automatically but can I "force" the main beam on manually. I always drive with my headlamps on automatic.

If you have adaptive headlights, you can force the main beam on by switching your lights to the manual position (1 o’clock position) near the driver’s door 🤓

I wish I had the same Nick at the local Benz dealership, they're a bit cold in comparison :S

Hey Mahmud, sadly no it’s just because it’ll be facelifted model. Facelifts include newer multimedia systems, new processors, graphics cards, bumpers, steering wheels and sometimes even new lights too. However the chassis does remain the same so it does look quite similar.

how do we turn on the rear viewing camera while driving forward? I managed to open it by pressing park assist, but sometimes it doesn't work and sometimes it works.

On most Mercedes models, when you press the P button with the camera, you can usually swipe down on the touch pad (or spin the multimedia system wheel depending on your model) and select which views are available 🤓 Of course it won’t stay on all the time, usually visible at speeds approx less than 10mph

Hello Nick, I have Alignment issues. I have a 2003 Mercedes E320 in whcih drives like a new car. Beautiful Car. Well, The front left strut broke as I was driving home from a coffee run. The spring litterally broke in two pieces on the Strut. Thought it would be an easy fix. As I was replacing the strut, I noticed the top ball joint was a little loose, but the ball joint and Upper A Frame was casted as one piece. So, I replaced the upper A frame. Put the Strut in and off to have the front end aligned. As I was driving to get the Front End aligned, I noticed the steering wheel was off to the left a little instead of being dead straight, but the car seemed to drive straight. Anyways, got the car back from the shop and I have a hard time driving it as it now pulls towards traffic. towards the left. I have to hold the steering wheel tight just to keep it going straight. I brought it back to the shop and they said all they could try is swapping the tires around. It Didnt' do anything to improve the drive. My Question is WHAT HAPPENED? Why does it now pull towards the left? All that was done was a shock and a ball joint and upper A Frame. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. Happy Easter!

Really sorry I’m not a mechanic or anything like that so I myself would go to a dealer or a garage if I experienced something like that. If you’ve had work done I’d suggest taking it back and stating that you’re not happy.

Red Warning Triangle actually has 3 stages 1. Red Warning Triangle shows on dashboard 2. Red Warning Triangle starts blinking (very close to the car in front) 3. Beeping sounds

Hi Nick, Many thanks for all your videos. I wonder if you can help me. I have a C Class Saloon 69 Reg. Over the years I have owned four other Merc's and found no trouble in programming the GPS. With this one I find it very difficult. I choose to enter the destination Post Code. The GPS seems to want more, like the full address and after all this it still doesn't accept the information. There must be something I haven't done in the setting up. It all works by following the journey on the map, just can't programme in a destination. Any suggestions? from Geoffrey U.

Geoffrey, If you are doing it by postcode, you must remember to leave a space between the fist and second parts. E.g. DN40 3AF not DN403AF. I had the same issue. Alex

Ah I apologies I know the one you mean, sadly I’ve never been involved with any upgrades of infotainment systems. Mercedes only ever made that one sized screen for that year so the only way I guess would be a 3rd party solution. Not sure if it’s possible though as the screen does operate some car functions.

Hey Nick I have a question maybe you can do a video about it. On new Mercedes such as GLA250E with key less go package, the metal key is tricky. I was finally able to open the door after many tries; but I wasn't able to turn on the car. Is it even possible?

What the emergency blade key? It is just for emergencies like for example if the battery was flat in the car. All it does is just allow access to the interior, you’d still need to use the actually main key to turn it on.

@@npoleary ah okay too bad then. I wanted to use the blade key at the Beach as to not damage the real key.. Which would be a big problem, stuck at the beach!

It is a tragic oversight from Mercedes, that there is no prev/next track button anywhere in the cabin of the new C-class. In my new C300 I either have to have the “classic view” with “media view” activated in the drivers display and swipe across the top left part of the supersport steering wheel, or move my eyes away from the road and attempt to hit the virtual button on the MBUX screen. Has anyone found a solution for this?

Hi. I think either: 1- assign the * favorite button to do “next track”. 2- Or say hey mercedes “next track”. 3- Or on mine, there is a button on the trackpad, that works by swiping your finger across it left and right for track change. :)

Is there a way to switch off the ready icon for glc300? I saw some countries review without the ready icon but mine has? Thanks

I agree - Yes please! I can see the utility of the ready icon when stationary, but obviously it's no longer needed when the car is moving yet it stays on. Thanks

No sadly it stays on all the time to let you know the engine is live. In some cases especially when using “Eco” the engine can go off and you may not realise it’s on.

Hi Nick my C300 is 3 years old with a service contact.Had a service today am I right in thinking because it’s serviced by Mercedes’ it’s under warranty for this year even though the manufacturer warranty has expired?

Hey David, it does depend where you live (sorry hard to tell where everyone is from in KZread comments) In the UK, Mercedes-Benz have a 3 year warranty from new after which point you can renew it on Mercedes-Benz’s Extended Warranty website. One thing you do get with servicing with Mercedes is the breakdown cover. It’s renewed every year up to 30 years as long as you service each year but won’t include a warranty, it’s just roadside assistance. Hope that helps explain it!

Hi Nick. I have a 2015 220E W212 Blu Tec. There is a problem with the “Nox Sensor”. It has been replaced twice and is again showing to be at fault. It is due in the Mercedes garage next week. I am aware that a number of friends have also trouble with this sensor. Could you have any comment to help. Liam

Don’t listen to the radio, but I do listen to music off of my phone 🤓 I have listened to music from my watch directly before when out for a run and it’s pretty good! 👌🏼

Yes that’s right 🤓 Just like a mild hybrid, it’ll assist the engine with acceleration and can even turn the engine off to save fuel

On the question of Sat Nav volume, you said "Mute and unmute it to get her talking . . ." Does that mean you can induce the Sat Nav to repeat the current advice by p[ressing mute and then unmute? That would be helpfiul to know where either ypou want to check that it is working or you can't remember the last direction she gave. Thanks.

Hi Nick, I own an EQC. I have a question even my dealer could not answer. The seat heating buttons are on the doors in front. However, sometimes when I get in the car they both automatically turn on although I do not want to use them. There is also no control button for the passenger site on the front panel. And it is really hard to reach the passenger side button while driving. Also there is no option for heaters on the pre-entry climate control menu. Do you have any idea on this issue. Thanks in advance.

Hi Cem Alham, the only reason that I can think as to why that would happen is if you have Pre-Entry Climate Control via key enabled. If you press MENU on the A/C controls in the middle of the car, go to Pre Entry Climate Control and see if it's enabled. Heated seats will come on if you either have your climate control warm or it's cold outside with this setting enabled, can't remember which one it is though. If it is enabled, disable it and it shouldn't happen again Hope that helps! 🤓

Sadly iPods were discontinued by Apple a long time ago now (I still have a classic somewhere in the loft! 😅) Because they were discontinued Apple stopped offering the software to support them so car manufacturers haven’t been able to put that in any more. Basically any multimedia system with MBUX (so A-Class 2018 or newer, or C-Class 2020 or newer) sadly won’t support iPod. The only thing I can suggest for the car, is either: 1) As the iPod copies music from your computer, take the music from your pc / mac and purchase a memory stick for use in the car. 2) Transfer the music to iPhone or a smartphone to use it that way (this way it’ll work over Bluetooth without a wire.) 3) (additional monthly cost) subscribe to a music streaming service like Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music or KZread. No 3 is the easiest if you have a smartphone but costs the most. I guess an extra perk is you’ll have access to almost every song ever made.

In addition to no wireless charging, which they had told me about in advance, mine showed up with no hot/cold cup holders. Also, my lumbar adjustment buttons are missing. I’m in Stage 2 of the Grieving Process.

One you didn't mention. After a recent software update, there was a new icon I'd never seen before - green colour and like a foot on a pedal . I assume its meant to show something to do with driving economically but it comes and goes and it's appearance doesn't seem to relate to how I'm driving.

Hmmm... I'm a bit worried about the concept of not being allowed to disable lane-keeping-assist permanently. When I was trained to drive the rule was that one only ever indicated 'when it would be of benefit to another road user'. If an indication was given and there was no road user to benefit from the signal, one would have marks DEDUCTED when on test. (Doing this in practice is actually a really good way of disciplining oneself to check mirrors etc before executing a manoeuvre, rather than developing the bad habit of signalling without looking.) The upshot is that I am FREQUENTLY changing lanes on motorways and dual-carriageways without indicating, and the idea that my car will chastise me each time I do it is not something I could live with easily.

Here India we have a law that a car needs to beep once when it reaches 80 kmph speed and it has to constantly keep beeping when car drives above 120kmph speed . would there be any way to stop this in settings ?

Ah this varies massively round the world so really sorry I don’t know what laws are in place for new cars for each country. However if you can turn it off, on your centre screen it’ll be in Settings, Assistance, Speed Limit Assist / Traffic Sign Assist and in here you can toggle Visual / Audio & Visual etc Hope that helps!

Could be because the car cannot see due to road film / dirt on the top of the windscreen or Mercedes badge at the front. If it’s clean though, chat with Mercedes and they’ll check it out for you

Has Mercedes-Benz stopped all development and error fixes for NTG 5.5 systems (no updates since 2019)? Why MBUX connection is not availbe all where Google Home is availble (assume Google Home MBUX join is working only in USA/Canada? Why MBUX do support so few languages?

Hey v6omega, I don’t think so, most manufacturers don’t supply release notes for software in cars if they’re updated. However I have see. NTG 5.5 have multiple map updates each year.

Active lane keeping is nothing short of dangerous the way it jolts the car. Needs a permanent off, esp given some cars don't even have it

I was told my c class 300 2022 would tell me if I leave my phone in car. It is not doing this & I can’t find how to turn this on, any idea please?

I do recall seeing a setting to toggle than on/off in system setting ls somewhere It could have been in HOME, SETTINGS, then under I think SYSTEM and then LINGUATRONIC? Or voice? I remember there was something there somewhere

Yes that's right, although on some models you can just switch the screen off while keeping the radio and Bluetooth on etc

What type of Mercedes is this? S class?

I believe that they don't allow you to permanently disable safety features because insurance is giving you a lower rate by having them. I once upgraded my car and the new one was worth 15 grand more and had 102 horsepower more but was 20% cheaper. The insurance dude explained it was due to all the safety systems it had - they got into far fewer accidents.

Funny, coz I get to choose if I want km/h only, mi/h only or keep both on my car, I guess that's because no one uses mile/h here in my country anyway

Great tips but Kmh mustn't have to be shown permanently. It isn't on dozens of cars. I could list, but my Range Rover Evoque doesn't, Jaguar XF doesn't, Volvo doesn't either.

Mine automatically appeared when I picked my car up. Not all Mercedes can do it but from what I’ve seen when reviewing them, if it can then the profile picture will automatically appear when it’s linked to your Mercedes me account or on newer ones if it’s a Co-User.
