Great one! Thank you Brian! There are few gems here that I didn't know about, and I will definitely test them out! Big shout out for bringing Everything into the list as it deserves a lot more exposure, than it curently have.

I can't recommend 7Zip enough. I used to be a stalwart user of WinZip ever since the days of Windows 3.x up to I think around v14 when I tried 7zip for the first time and found the 7zup supported more formats than WinZip did. Hugely recommended. Revo Uninstaller is also a great one to use. I used the free version for about 2 years but gave the paid version a go and found it more in-depth at rooting out empty folders and obsolete registry keys. I'm not sure these day if the free version has it as well but one particular feature I love is how you can set it to record system changes when installing a program. It will record every setting change, every file and folder created and create its own install log file. Then should you wish to remove the program in question, Revo will then use the log file instead of scanning the file structure, but will still do a scan after uninstall has finished to ensure everything is cleaned and removed. Some of the others I haven't heard about and may give them a try. Thanks for the video Brian. Always great to see that even free programs can be just as powerful as paid programs.

Hi, just asking, did you use to make After Effects tutorials in the past? I always think of such tutorial when seeing your name.

10 out of 10 well done great video. Mp3tag good for changing metadata on files.

A lot of people seem to know "Everything" for search. Try out "Listary". I can't live without it. Integrated into Windows Explorer it is powerful and fast! The feature list is vast

So many of these I actually use! :) I even have Revo Pro (legally)

Audacity was a thing decades ago, too. Still strong. 🙂👍🏽

Some nice useful programs there. 7-zip is great, and also Bleach Bit & Audacity, been using them for years.

I have been using Eusing Free Registry Cleaner for years and it has never let me down. Faststone image viewer is also very good.

why do you use a reg cleaner?? do you really need those couple of kb more of disk space in order to risk to corrupt your system? old and unused registry entries don't do any harm and they don't slow your system down either.

What are the hide and folder lock software you would suggest? Safe software

I already know Audacity for years. But I got your Quickviewer, ShareX and the Adbobe Picture things... I will try ShareX if its as good as Screencast o matic.

It would be interesting to see your and other peoples views on a total stack setup. In example: Uefi, Netboot, Kvm, (Win10, Win7, CentOs(Docker (VideoProduction, Admin, WebDev,....) I'm going to try for Ironic, Kubernetes, CephFs, Gradle, Hybrid cloud..... some assembly required.

I use WinDirStat to see the storage. Wiztree is pretty fast compared to WinDirStat, but you can only scan one drive at a time. WinDirStat can scan multiple drives, but it is slow.

Wiztree is faster but needs administrator privileges unlike Windirstat

For graphics i think GIMP beats the ones featured in every respect...& is still free. Bleachbit i like, but i've never found a way to select which cookies it deletes as you can with CCLeaner

I've been using Bleachbit for about 5 years now, I kinda use it as my monthly cleaner. I like how it also adds a right-click option to just shred any file of folder. I still use CCleaner with the CCEnhancer as my weekly cleaner. Anything better than CCleaner nowadays??

yes, not to use it would be much better. you don't need a reg cleaner at all and windows 10 has most of the other options already included. ccleaner is not recommended anymore since it was taken over by avast. it contains malware and does alot of unwanted things in the background now.

For Space Analyzer i use OverDisk 0.11 beta. Very old small software. I don't think it's being developed anymore, I have been using this version for at least 15 years. Works perfectly on all versions of Windows and is much more convenient than Wiztree. For quick photo viewing - Faststone. For a free photo editor I would recommend Krita or Gimp.

ccleaner used to be a (kind of) good app. but now it is not recommended anymore as it now contains malware, installs another default browser, sends out user data, and so on since it was taken over by avast. also you don't need any registry cleaner and for the other functions there are better options (most of them in win10 included).

Irfanview can do almost everything the 3 photo apps listed do. It's handles just about every picture and video format you throw at it.

Same here! Irfanview64 is unbeatable.

Excellent review! Personally, I prefer Treesize to Wintree mainly because of the completely useless graphic that Wintree displays. Also, many years ago, I contacted Steve Wilhite about a problem I was having with a Gif file, and he made sure that I knew that it was pronounced with the "J" sound, not the "G" sound.

that Revo uninstaller I've used many times when windows uninstaller will not remove a program you want to delete from your system

I have used Everything for years too. Yes, it is much better than windows built-in search.

Use 7 zip and password protect my files. One update and updates the entire zip in the cloud. Cryptomator is great, gives you a cloud vault and only updates the files you update on the cloud 😊

jason crigger these tools are all free and also run on Linux which I have also run for years. I stick with Windows also because of Office 365 and work integration.

never had issues with any of it, and iv'e used it for years and years, only issue i did have was running a system optimization, it would conflict with windows updates, but not in recent iterations.

There's lots of good advice on this channel, so I would highly recommend it. The first video I came across on it was about getting rid of some of the garbage you don't need that hogs your resources. Altho, I have to say that you just cannot remove Cortana, the worst nuisance that Microsoft ever created.

one thing I bought Revo for was the ability to export a list of my installed programs to excel with all the details - keys etc. Never regretted the few bucks spent.

also, I never realized how much c**p was left over after a regular program uninstall. Revo clears out everything with extended scanning for leftovers.

My favorite free software is AOL CD coasters. They've been mailed in droves to practically everyone throughout the universe, which is why aliens are avoiding us.

I don't think I've seen an AOL CD for over 20 years.

7zip, Notepad++, VLC, DNSBench, PatchMyPC, Adobe Reader, Virtual Box qBittorent and many more.

I use Geek uninstaller free version. Portable, very simple to use...

Clipdiary, i use it hundreds of times a day!

CrystalDiskInfo and LibreOffice. CDI is great for seeing drive health and LibreOffice let's you make MS Office files with much the same functionality without having to pirate Word or Excel etc.

Professional video software : DaVinci from black magic ! For normal people it is much too professional but try out and learn !

for browsing images, all you need is FASTSTONE

Great video, but what is 'a' software? Windows search is garbage, so any alternative is most welcome. CCleaner scans my registry, so I do not think that BleachBit is a replacement. Revo Uninstaller also very useful.

WinRAR has more features than 7Zip, and FastStone Image Viewer is much better than XnView

PeaZip is a very good alternative to 7zip
