After years of wearing other types of fragrances,I've finally come back to exclusively wearing fougeres. When I was 11 to 15 years old 1988-92, I was gifted Gucci Nobile and another fougere frag called California for men and damn I never realized how much I missed them till I smelled Drakkar noir again about 7 years ago. Thanks for shining light on some good frags I definitely will soon try!!

Another (Makes me Happy) video Kelan. Bravo!!! Bogart Sig is really good! I have both the original and reformulated. The original says Oakmoss on the box. There is a different too. Interesting! You got me going with Lomani PM! I’m hooked. I found an original Houbigant Duc! It looks old. Much thinner bottle with a really cheap tin cap. The smell is an oakmoss bomb in a good way. The smell is very recognizable in the current form. Keep those reviews coming! I love the vintage versus current formulation videos!

Great list Kelan👌👌. All the fougeres you listed are amazing. Great vid as always 👌👌👌👌. Drakkar Noir, Gucci Nobile, and Signature by Jaques Bogart are my favourite. Also can you do a review on a very underrated, forgotten fragrance and one of my all time favourite fragrances because I smelled it on my Italian Father I loved so much I wanted to get some. It’s The 1996 release by the house of Versace it’s Versace The Dreamer. It’s an Amber fougere that’s smells amazing. And niche it’s very unique you won’t be smelling like the other guys.

I love the vintage formulation of Drakkar Noir-it's one of my favorite fragrances ever, but I think that the current formulation of it is not even half as excellent as it used to be like. I remember that new bottles of Drakkar Noir were still very good well into the 1990's. I bought a new bottle of it last year and it mostly causes me to want to search for a more vintage version of it.

Have you tried Penhaligon’s English Fern? It got discontinued not too long ago sadly. The vintage versions are darker and more rich. The current(pre-discontinued) version was almost transparent so it lacked the intensity but still has the fougere element. Its name evokes it rather accurately. Like walking in a wet grassy field in the English countryside.

Ralph Lauren Polo Green is my favorite fragrance of all time, but it's not a Fougere, despite it being green as all getout. It's a chypre, and features pine, leather and tobacco along with substantial Aromatic herbs, but no lavender. A classic Fougere has, they say, the tell-tale lavender-coumarin accord, with the coumarin (or, usually, substitute of coumarin by accord from other notes) contributing the earthy green "fern" accord. The "barbershop" variety of Fougere is less well defined but usually has the green-earthy accord toned down and a soapy/powdery accord amped up. Compare modern-day classic fougeres Houbigant Fougere Royale (2010) and Amouage Bracken Man with any of the "barbershop" fougeres like YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme, Azzaro Pour Homme, etc.

Kellen, do you have vintage Jacomo de Jacomo? I’m 55 and was wearing Drakaar in the mid-80’s but so was everyone else around me. I was always on the hunt for something just as good yet different. I found Jacomo and rocked that through the last few years of the 80’s. It was SOOOO damn good! Slowly my friends all started wearing it too (I was that guy). We didn’t think in terms of “date night” frags or “panty droppers” or “most complimented” but this was that all the way. A sexy, warm, spicy fougere that stood out amongst the Drakaar masses. The new formulation is a shadow of the original. Clove was definitely a note in it but is almost the only note in the current one. Highly recommended for the vintage collection!

Sergio Tacchini could be on this list, I consider it a barbershop 💈/ fougere, although it’s listed as a simple aromatic in Fragrantica . Stunning picks ! Have you ever tried Jazz Prestige/ Live Jazz by YSL? You’ll definitely love them. I don’t think they fit in this category but they do give a refined barbershop feel.

How are you doing Kelan? Great selections as usual mate. Did you get to check out that Bob Mackie For Men? Just curious. Do you intend to check out the legendary Jean Patou Pour Homme? It’s said to be one of the greatest of the 80’s releases. Don Johnson wore it as his signature scent when he was doing Miami Vice. Either way, it’s long discontinued now and only tales of its greatness remain. The old timers swear by that stuff though. They say it smelled heavenly back in the day. There’s a new formulation out today but it’s said to smell nothing like the og. Fragheads love to knock on it. Man, after hearing and reading about it, I’d love to try some of this stuff. Anyways cheers mate, great seeing you on Mr. Smelly’s show.

I think Fougeres were popular with the generations of women of past decades…not so much today. The clean, soapy, effect was representative of a “groomed” man. My wife likes them because it’s what she grew up around. Today, it’s all about “sweet” and unisex stuff. Today’s generation of women and men have been conditioned to favor these times of frags because the lines between masculine and feminine have been blurred. I’m a firm believer that fragrances reflect the times. I’m not implying it’s a bad thing…it just “is”.

You're not hyping up expensive niche fragrances on your channel and I'm fine with that. Even so I want to mention Masculin Pluriel by Maison Francis Kurkdjian. I think it's an excellent modern fougere.
