10 Fastest Navy Ships Ever Built

Ойын-сауық

Speed is nominally important for all vessels but more so for smaller craft like corvettes, frigates and destroyers to chase down enemy targets. Aircraft Carriers literally can’t go fast because it’s far more important for them to remain as level as possible. Cruisers and Battleships didn’t need great speed because they could tank a lot of damage. In this video, we will showcase to you the fastest naval ships on ocean with a recorded top speed. The list includes retired boats as well as active ones.
Let us know in case we miss out on the credits.

The Norwegisn Skjold class corvettes are basically a reinvention of the old viking ship! Both inovations for their time. Same strategy as 1000 years ago, the new corvettes also creates a stealth aproach through floating shallowly enough for extremely litoral waters, as well as speed and solid seaworthiness. Skjold class corvette is Viking ship 2.0.

Carriers go a hell of a lot faster than you think. It is important as more wind over the deck the easier it is to launch and recover aircraft. The level of the flight deck is irrelevant (due to speed). Do more research.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they can achieve 50 knots no problem. They also have an advantage when the water's rough since they're so big.

Yeah, way faster than you might think as they turn into the wind so that there's a 30+ knot headwind even before the AC is launched. The power needed for so large a ship to travel at 30ish kn is enormous which is one of the reasons they are powered by nukes.

The A-90 Orlyonok series are the only crafts of any type worldwide capable of landing a full Marine batallion on any beach, complete with armored vehicles and heavy equipment, after crossing 1500 km at 400 kph. This miracle had been done back in the cold war by USSR, until these amazing crafts were inherited by the Russian Navy.

Small battalions maybe. Also ground effect sea planes are impractical as they require calm seas to operate and their engines corroded fast.

Now there is no such need for the Russian fleet. I know the Americans studied the experience of ekranoplans and their company tried to make them, but apparently they did not receive money from the government. Initially, such things were armed with anti-ship missiles and did not carry landing functions, see Lun-class ekranoplan (NATO "Utka"), moreover, they had flaws in both aircraft and ships. Hit & run concept

Pfft I live on Kauai I saw a boat that looked like a cutter class coast guard boat that was at one point a hydrofoil, then sunk into the water and looked like a fishing boat that could move laterally and in reverse like a jet ski, then submerge even further and was able to “shoot a tube” of a large wave and come into a shallow bay and make a turn at around 100moh in about 10ft of water then in 45 seconds traveled to the horizon line which would be around 600mph all dead silent. This was V.3 or something of Juliette marine systems ghost boat. Fastest boat by far. The only way my brain could compute what it was seeing was… it’s a helicopter crashing… it was freaking kinda scary feeling like I was seeing something I wasn’t supposed to.

I'm bored, so I'm going to double check those numbers! Since I know Soviet back then always gave out inaccurate data, to look bigger or better (the cold war competition, between the big powers) So the information we have today comes from either Soviet era, Russian "era" and intelligence information from an "western" country. And all three can report wrong, so we have to compare information and think about what is technically and physically possible in the real world. 270 knots Project 903 «Lun`» Missile ship NATO Utka Russia (USSR) - 297 knots (550 km/h), I double checked that information, cruise speed at 243 knots 216 knots Project 904 A-90 ORLYONOK landing ship ekranoplan Russia (USSR) - That is correct in some documents, other documents have it at an higher speed (this is due to some inaccuracy of intelligence reports of that era) 73 knots Project 125 Torpedo boats Russia (USSR) - 73,4 knots (pr. 125), 62 knots (pr. 125A) 67 knots Project 1141 anti - submarine ship "Alexander Kunakhovich" Russia (USSR) - 52 to 61.5 knots (from multiple sources), test speed doesn't count for official data, since that is light ship, with no weapons, it would be like I say that I can run the 100 meter, if I didn't have fat on my body! 65 knots Project 11451 «Sokol» NATO Mukha class corvette Russia (USSR) - 60,5 knots (multiple sources) 62 knots Project 125А border patrol ships of the 4th rank Russia (USSR) - 62 knots 61 knots Project 133 «Antares» NATO Muravey-class patrol boat Russia (USSR) - 61 knots 60 knots Project 1240 «Uragan» Small missile ships Russia (USSR) - 58 knots (multiple sources) - up to 60 knots (1 source) up top 60 knots, means the ship is capable of all speed up to 60 knots, but nor 60 knots, 59 knots is up to 60 knots - 61.3 knots (found one source that state that), might be a modified ship, or an adjustment done, from experience from earlier build of that class (how knows) 60 knots Project 12322 «Zubr» landing ship Russia (USSR) - 63 knots top, but in reality 55 knots sustainable. Basically the powerplant can't handle running at speed above 60 knots, Probably due to the diesel engines (diesel engines can't run at high rpm for long period of time), so for Zubr class, although the gas turbine can handle running at top speed (so long the are fuel enough), the diesel engines are limiting the class. Could be solved with replacing those diesel engines with gas turbines as well, to the cost of maintenance, fuel and up time. 55 knots Project 1206 «Kalmar» Landing boat NATO Lebed class Russia (USSR) - 55 knots 50 knots Project 12321 «Djeran» Small landing craft NATO Aist Russia (USSR) - pr. 1232: 50 knots - pr. 12321 49 knots - There is 1 source, saying 70 knots (but I classify that source as fake!) 49 knots Project 1205 «Skat» Landing boat NATO GUS-Class Russia (USSR) - 49 knots - There is one source stating it to do 60 knots, but I feel it's inaccurate, but not impossible, but not with those engine power. 44 knots Project 206 «Storm» NATO Turya class torpedo boat Russia (USSR) - 45 and 46 knots. Is belivable, due to other ships of similar size and powerplant, do around the same speed. for example the Swedish Spica class do 40.5 knots on a ship that is a few meter longer with similar powerplant. 43 knots Project 206МР «Vikhr» missile boats of the 4th rank Russia (USSR) - 42 knots Notice how much top speed changes, betweem ships that is USSR only ships; both USSR and Russia; USSR - export; from intelligence reports; etc. But the original video was about modern ships in service today, and not in the past or older "museum" ships or massively upgraded ships, etc. pick one, I have no idea what the video maker sat as a yard stick. Countries like Norway, Sweden, USA, etc. have had multiple ships in the past, capable to do more than 70+ knots

Med cruise 1978, embassy seized in Iran, the Constellation & 2 nuke cruisers went around Africa, while DDs & support ships went thu suez canal...they beat us on station by over 4hrs. Connie was making 62knots & gaining speed as she left our radar range, she had to slow down around Angola to let the nuke cruisers catch up. Only the 2 Los Angeles subs could keep up. Think Constellation had 8-12 boilers & 4 screws, and that was 78-79

Sadly, they are vulnerable to unstoppable intercontinental hypersonic nuclear missiles, huge targets with insane amount of military equipment on board. For sure mighty weapons 15 year's ago, even highest general's admits they are behind when it comes to unstoppable hypersonic missiles in US. Don't seem as huge problem with hypersonic missiles, but it's a huge problem just now.

The A-90 isn’t nearly as fast as it’s big brother the KM Ekranoplan powered by 10- turbojet engines also known as the “Caspian Sea Monster” which had a top speed over 300mph. This flying boat was also a “ground effect” only aircraft/sea craft that flew just feet above the water. kzread.info/dash/bejne/q4qYqsGdic-8cps.html en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caspian_Sea_Monster Ps US Navy Nuclear-powered Aircraft Carriers and submarines can go pretty fast if they need to in a hurry.

Ummmm, let me get this straight...you're saying that the A-90 Orlyonok "boat/plane" was not visible to radar because it could fly a few feet off the water??? Do you realize that radar detects objects by picking up the reflection in the radar signal off the ship/plane/structure ABOVE the surface of the water and not at the surface? And, of course it wouldn't be picked up by sonar unless it sank...which by the looks of it, is entirely possible. One other thing, American nuclear powered aircraft carriers are not slow. The maximum speed of the 1092', 100,000 ton Gerald Ford class supercarriers released to the public is "in excess of 30 knots (35 mph)", but the true top speed is classified. When my brother was on research ships while going to graduate school near Norfolk VA, he saw nuclear carriers departing into the open ocean that he estimated were traveling well above 30 knots, maybe 40 knots.

  • @videorowtv5198

Yeah but the radar wouldn't see it because it flys so low. It would pick it up when you can already see it, which is pretty late especially with it's speed.

The problem is that you can't hide from radar, you can be more difficult to spot but you can't hide. There is no such thing as under the radar. Airports make theirs only catch things from certain altitudes-up, but only so they don't get interference from trees, buildings, etc. But in times of war that radar is touching the ground which is how we spot tanks which are lower than your flying boat.
