@@therealjimmysworld Somebody needs to create a home-built replica of the Me 163 Komet. Fit it with a small jet engine. Use modern materials - foam, etc.. We already know the excellent flight characteristics of the 163. Use a similar undercarriage to what you'd find on a glider - a central skid and wheel, maybe outriggers on the wings. A cheap warbird homebuild.
About 20 years ago, a friend of mine had a BD-5, the turbine version. Yes, the one used in the old James Bond movies. Anyway, he needed someone dumb enough to take it up for a test flight, so I did!! To this day, it remains the coolest experience in my 35 years of flying. Pure awesomeness my pilot friends.

I saw the early BD-5s back around 1970 in Florida at an airshow. I still have black and white negatives that I developed back then of the cockpit and the female model that was at the static display. That was one cool airplane.
I absolutely love Jimmy's voice, I could listen to this man talk about a rock and be entertained just because of the way his voice sounds.
Honestly I'm loving this channel man. Keep it up! When it comes to owning private jets or tanks some people ask "why". When the better question is "why not?"

I like the part you said we are all fighter pilots at heart. I had been flying with my father since I was 10, soloed a Stearman at 12 and loved getting my hands on anything I could, Super cubs and even road in an Avenger converted to crop dusting. Boy was that loud. At the same time we had a Cessna 185 tail dragger. A little more involved for a teen, but I was tall, so that helped. I had been flying it and doing landings with him and emerg stuff for a while, but on my 13th birthday, my father took me up and we went to around 6000 feet. He handed over the yoke and said, do as you please, dive for that cloud, climb to that one, go after that phantom enemy. Pull out of a spin. It was like that fighter pilot thing you mentioned, although a little slower. I will never be able to explain to others what that experience meant, on that day and that my father trusted me with his baby. If that wasn't enough, on landing, he got out and told me to take her up, solo the 185. I was so nervous, but all went well and I was so incredibly overwhelmed. I forgot to mention, this was a short rock runway, in Israel, in the middle east a long time ago. They even had a Hawk missile site right next to the runway, that would occasionally practice targeting movements on the small planes there. The moral of this little story, is just how incredible flying can be, then add in basically a child, my father's trust and a memory never forgotten. Have a great Thanksgiving 2021.

The designer of the SubSonex has been designing aircraft since the 1970s. The foam core of the canard is a proven method of composite aircraft. It only forms the shape, the strength comes from fiberglass and/or graphite fabric and resin

Had the chance to fly a velocity back in 2017. Coolest plane I've ever logged time in.
Those SX300's at spruce creek are a crazy thing, when i was up flying in a team rocket f1 and we were getting ready to leave 3 off them took of all together, that sight is CRAZY and the sound is NUTS
Also the Long EZ has similar not quite so fast as Berkut but a lot less expensive, longer range (1600 miles on 52 gals) plans built, still available, great fun to fly if you keep it light 180 knots straight and level (with Lycoming 0235), no need to use the rudder pedals after takeoff until landing.

That mustang would be my choice. That has always been one of my favorite plains of all time. They are just mean and sexy at the same time. I heard an actual p51 at an airshow fire up and just that was awsome.
Thank you for this video.... superb
I used to build the Lancairs. We had one that had a small block Chevy V-8 with gear reduction drive. it did over 290 mph. once while being flown in the southwest the engine went out, on reporting the engine out to ATC the controller asked which engine he had lost. The pilot told him, "I only have the one". That plane later ran cocaine for the Cartel from Mexico into US.

Hey Jimmy, Really amazed at what you can do man. Hats off! But also curious how did you learn all this?
The most interesting kit airplane video I have ever seen.
Love the commentary, Mooney M20 E with and Eddy Bar is worth a segment. I owned one and think you will find it worth while.
Very nice trip down fantasy lane here. Personally while I love the idea of having a rocket in the garage, the joy of flight is more about floating around a rural airfield rather than breaking speed records. How about a review of the low and slow ( and cheap)?
My dad is a retired Air Force pilot turned business man. He owns a T-37, T-38 and restoring an F-4 and P-51D. Yeah, guess the bug never leaves you.
DEFINITELY my #FAVORITE FLYING MACHINE BY FAR is the #LANCAIR EVOLUTION! It's THE BEST PLANE in my opinion! Had the #Lancair iv P, which was BRILLIANT. However, there is NOTHING that gets CLOSE to flying the #LANCAIR EVOLUTION. Its THE ONLY aircraft I'd get in the personal division/classification. GREAT video @JIMMYSWORLD! I KEEP COMING BACK TO THIS ONE - for some reason... It's JUST THIS GOOD of a comparison video, and your #PASSION is #contageous, @JIMMYSWORLD! I LOVE!!! your channel @JIMMYSWORLD!
I love the Berkut! Great airplane!
Berkut has rudder pedals. Each side controls its side only and outward only. Both pedal works like air brake. Due to long moment arm, it is effective. Don't recall how Berkut was set up, but Long EZ (David Orr's) has no rudder pedal or throttle on the back seat.

I'm in disbelief that the Glasair 3 wasn't on this list. The original company that produced it went out of business long ago, but another company Advanced Aero Components recently brought it back with an improved all carbon fiber air frame, now called the G3. Anyone who likes the BD-10 would LOVE the Saker S1. Hopefully one day it'll be made, and I'll have around $7 Million to purchase one.

The BD-10 : in effect a DIY miniature fighter jet (just imagine somebody strapping two machine guns on it)? That is crazy and insane!! The Lancair 4P with the TSIO 550 does not have a max ceiling as it is experimental. I’ve had mine up to 26,000ft with a cabin pressure altitude of 10,000ft. Prior to RVSM airspace, my friend had his up at 32,000ft for a moment to get over a storm. These planes are absolute beasts and more than capable. Also, at 26,000ft I get 270kts TAS, and about 17.5 gph. I noticed your numbers were a little bit off on the 4P so I just wanted to inform you. Great video!

The speeds that Jim Bede claimed for the BD-10 were wildly optimistic. No BD-10 ever came close to going supersonic. The fastest any of them is know to have gone is about 460 mph. Propeller-driven Unlimited racers go that fast.
