Not really. Undertaker’s streak breaking had to be done as realistically as possible. And if that meant not telling Referees, so be it.

Why do people always get the Mania 14 wrong. Taker never told Michaels that he had to do business. He went and sat at Gorilla ready for any of Shawn's shenanigans. Shawn never knew before. I think at that time Shawn was just bitter that he knew he wasn't going to be the guy leading the WWF to its successful Era plus his career was going to be over.

You know you can just view the Undertaker's interview with Stone Cold on the WWE Network. Taker himself said he never told anyone not even Vince or Austin. He just went out and sat in Gorilla with his fists taped where guys like Cornette saw him. He did this when Shawn was already in the ring. Now if Shawn tried anything and refused to drop the belt to Austin, Taker would come out and beat up Michaels. However, the bottom line is that Shawn never knew and when he asked Taker years later, Taker lied. All this is available on the Stone Cold podcast. So there was no way Shawn knew beforehand. He may have guessed it but he never knew exactly what Taker was going to do. I know it sounds foolish to defend 90s Shawn but that's the case. He was a pain in the ass at Mania but he still was going to do the right thing.

Still no talk about Dr. D David Schultz before the first Wrestlemania, hmmm. I guess Cultaholic never watched Darkside of the Ring.
