My hat goes off to any Spider-Man fan who had to live through the Clone Saga and One More Day, must have sucked reading the books at the time.

They could as well make her new character. Venom being related to Spider-Man is kind off important.
The X-Man Thunderbird came along when I was in my late teens/early 20’s, and I also remember when he was killed off. A few months later an “X-Men” fan wrote a letter to Marvel which was published in the next available issue of “X-Men”. The fan happened to be a Native American and was very proud that Marvel had created a Native American superhero, but was then very disappointed and puzzled when he was killed off. He wanted to know why. Where most of the responses to fanmail at the time were somewhat tongue in cheek the editors treated this question very seriously and gave a very serious answer, which was basically along the lines mentioned in the above video.

They do. Look up Ra's Al Ghul's pronunciation. The original Arabic pronunciation would be "Rah-us," but the creator chose the Hebrew "Raysh." And, yet, none of these are pronounced properly in Arabic or Hebrew in the Nolan movies (rahs), and in Arrow, only a few people pronounce it as "Raysh" while most pronounce it "Rahs."

@Cosmo Two things: First of all if Marvel would obtain DC or other way around. It wouldn't automatically mean that they would fuse or cancel they projects same way as ownership by Disney doesn't mean that they become for kids. Universes are usually fused only if they series is discontinued. And secondary Marvel vs DC crossover in fact is canon, so they multiverses in fact are connected. This same goes to Hasbro and Toei Universes what has canon crossovers.

You're referencing American made programs of a UK creation; we can't even pronounce Thanos (They-Knows) correctly, having a history of popular people having the name & it still ends up animated & CGI'd into what we have now. Besides, we all know how "canon" movies & other media are, right? The only instance I can think of non comic book media becoming canon is with Harley Quinn being put into the comics (though, I reserve the right to be wrong here since I stopped following & reading around 9/11).
Someone take that Twilight Of The Gods script from Moore
@chrislives
5 жыл бұрын
DC owns it and it's very similar to Kingdom Come
Wait, is the guy in "Gifted" actually a younger alternate version of Thunderbird?
You miss the salient point of Moore's proposed story and, of course, the reason it was rejected, he wanted to give DC's superheroes a definitive ending. A Ragnarok, an Armageddon. His contention was that to lift Superman et al to true mythic status they needed a Gotterdammerung: a twilight of the gods, where their stories end, as it is only in ending we find completion and the story's true meaning.
Popular media and DC disagree with you sir.... It's con-stan-teen. Or maybe the live action and official dc animations are wrong as well. Good list, thanks

Hawkward.
Thunderbird is on the gifted
The first Superman you mentioned, the evil one, wasn't pitched to DC: it was a one shot story published in Siegel and Shuster's self published fanzine. P.S. Constan-TEEN. That is all.
According to Google is pronounce John "Constantine" so.....
"I'm right because I know a bridge." Truly an epic display of research. Here's some BETTER research. John Constantine's name was an allusion to Emperor Flavius Constantine, who famously made christianity the official religion of rome. Emperor Constantine's name written in greek was Κωνσταντῖνος (Constantinos). Now, the ῖ in greek is Iota. And iota refers to the "ee" sound.
Webster and other sources would have it differently, the i In Constantine is a long e sound, not an i sound, seriously. Otherwise, great video, a little neat roster of trivia, and, here is another, Thunderbird had a younger brother who joined the Hellions of the Hellfire Club, the villainous counterpart to the New Mutants, and carried a serious grudge for a long time about his elder brother's death, at least until he realized finally that his bro went out with a bang of his own volition and to take out a rather nasty villain.

Another one is the Watchmen almost being the Charlatan characters.
It is con-stan-tyne cause there is even a part in a hellblazer comic where some guy says it con-stan-steen and john corrects him.
Strange how a lot of people connected to Superman have LL as their initials(Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, Lana Lang). Also don't say no one knows of Thunderbird in Marvel, the dude is a big part of The Gifted on tv.

Well, considering that both John Constantine and Ras Al Ghul were created by DC Comics and not you, I would just assume that their creators know how to pronounce the names better than any of us do. No need to argue it.

Damn John Constantine doesn't know how to say his own name
*Thunder Bird is in the gifted*
Actually it being a name usually would mean that is pronounced and spelled by the person who gave it\has it. So really it could be Constantine or Constantine. Though specifically the creator could have said which somewhere. . Names get weird lol. For this one in particular i grew up thinking Constantine with tine like teen. But I've several people that instead used tine like time. Idk the first just seemed to fit his character better
I know this is irrelevant, but, Grant Morrison looks like Paul, the alien.

Nice video. But while we're at pronouncing names - it's Joe Shuster as in shoe... correctly pronounced "shooster". Schuster actually is German for cobbler. It literally has the term Schuh / shoe in it.
You clearly have no idea how names work. The reason people insist on pronouncing Constantine's name that way is because every DC character calls him that in all of his appearances. He is called whatever the writers want him to be called. It doesn't matter how you think his name should be pronounced.
One of the reason Twilight of the Superheroes was never cleared was not just because of Moore leaving the company, but because the event would also have killed off every single character and completely restarted DC from scratch.
Venom's original ORANGE story
You're wrong, it's Constantine, not Constantine! That's how they say it in video adaptations!

Pretty sure you pronounced Shuster wrong too.
What if Jean Grey lived 1979?
What about the *Death of Superman?* Originally, Superman was supposed to stay dead. Like, actually forever dead. The plan was to introduce the 4 new Supermen (Steel, Superboy, etc.) and the fans would decide who the new Superman would be. And so the fans decided: This is dumb and you should feel bad! After massive backlash, DC back-tracked hard and brought Sups out of a "healing coma."
I know this comment is super late, but John Constantine is a British character, so if Mr.British says it's One way, then it's that way. Love Mr.British, sir Ewan.

DC deserve better owner then Werner and I don't think integration would ever happen, as both multiverses are simply too different and everyone is aware of that (plus technically they are canonically connected already). But monopoly still isn't good thing and healthy competition between those two is needed for industry. Though I'm not sure who would be good fort that? Paramount currently work on Hasbro Universe, so they are excluded. So maybe Dreamworks?
