Tarp tent is pretty much eternally cool. I've got some other stuff rocking with standard tarps that I haven't seen elsewhere..... but I'm thinking about starting a 'Tube channel' so I'll keep them to myself for now. But I will say that sewing extra cord loops to the edges of your standard tarp will raise new possibilities 👍

The Holden is the configuration I go to 90% of the time. So quick and minimal equipment needed. If rain and wind threaten entry at the front, simply pin the two front corners at the hiking staff at center. Just like battening the hatch. Otherwise I toss at least one side on top of the triangle roof and enjoy the stars. I seldom have to exit my sleeping bag to make the adjustments. Great tips on these other configurations!

That video helped me in how I could use my tarps to set them up for survival in camping outside and keep warm and safe. The tarps I have are rectangular and I have the lightest one in my backpack and the other in my house as a backup if it is needed. I would try to put mine up between two trees and have a sleeping area in between the trees. I have poles to stake the tarp down and keep trash bags in my pack to make ground support so my body is off the ground.

Really awesome video. I've been trying to set up some budget camping and it opened my eyes to how expensive tents and sleeping bags really are. I have a bivy with winter and summer sleeping bags to save on weight and money but I still wanted something over my head and to protect my gear. This video is super informative and really opened my eyes to the possibilities with a tarp.

Awesome video bro. My main problem with tarps is they are not very common in my country, at least not the good and light ones. Second problem is bugs 😂 living in a tropical country makes those damn bastards really annoying even with a campfire close burning repellent plants. Any suggestions regarding bugs? Thanks a lot!

What kind of Tarp would you suggest that could withstand high temps from a stove?

@@DropForgedSurvival Thanks for responding. I watched a video over the weekend of some youths who used 4 small trees like a teepee and used a homemade tarp which they had a small wood stove. I just thought maybe you could suggest a type of material that would hold up best to the tarps heat. Thanks

Use stakes and make this guidelines shorter. Nothing worse than having to take a leak at night and your guidelines becoming trip wires. Didn't see the us army poncho hooch. Stake the 4 sides of a poncho down and tie a guideline to the hood tie it off on an overhead branch. Used it for years in the army in all weather conditions. Good video though.

Most of those setups would be even better if you used some lifters to give you more room inside. This makes such a difference.I like to avoid touching the tarp because i don't want to get gear or body parts wet. Not a problem in dry weather but then I probably would not deploy the tarp in the first place. My personal favourite setup is probably the wedge or diamond where you tie one corner up to a tree or something similar and stake out the oposite corner, then the sides too. Again, I then lift some point in the middle of the tarp by either attaching it to another object like a tree or branch or find myself a stick for that purpose. If I may give my opinion on your presentation: I rather liked the video but you might think about the use of the term "bad boy". I know it seems to be kind of a trend but at the same time it is so overdone. I don't see what is so special about a corner of a tarp to call it a bad boy. Ok, rant is over. ;) Thanks for posting.

The one Chris called the bivvy, I've always heard it called the Plough point. But it really doesn't matter what it's called as long as it keeps you protected from the elements.
