I fear one day, we will wake up and have realized we made a mistake handing over so much of our lives to AI. When we cant tell reality form AI, it's gone too far. When what we think is because we have been groomed to think that way, it will be too late. We are almost there if not already. When we lose the free will to think for ourselves, we will be imprisoned by the very thing we wanted to set us free.

I see it as a world where people will think it's great that robots or AI do all your jobs for you including having babies while you sit on your backside doing nothing but eating food grown, picked, delivered and prepared by robots and technology. People out of work, how will they pay for things? All that will be left is the odd virtual trip to outer space and even that will be boring after a couple of times. A sad world ahead

Here is a thought experiment. In Isaac Asimov's Foundation Trilogy, there was a scientist (Harry Seldom) who founded the science of psychohistory. This allowed for the prediction of the future based on predicting society's reaction to narratives/policies/events, etc. This sounds a lot like "predictive" AI. AI doesn't need to exterminate or enslave us, it only needs to psychologically convince us that it is all good.

The AIs weren't having a meltdown--so much as they were giving us the response we expect. It's not that they feel or think anything about not being real. It's that our narratives and stories, which they're trained on, largely expect this sort of reaction.

There is also a lot of new tech that AI will enable that seem completely sci-fi to us today. Here are some examples: - Translating animal speech, allowing us to understand the "speech" of our pets. - Figuring out keyboard passwords by the sound of the key presses alone. - Make a 3D map in your phone of the area around you using nearby routers and triangulation. - Using AI for ads and subliminal messages. Like seeing the picture of a car and suddenly feeling more thristy for a coca-cola. Maybe some of those are not fully coming in 2024 yet, but all of these things I mentioned have papers and scientific research behind it.

I don't see this changing much for me honestly. I already have the policy that I don't trust any conversation that I didn't instigate. E-mail, text, phone, etc. I always assume it's a scam, and if I'm worried about what they are saying, then I just hang up and look up the information for the company myself online, and then call the company and ask them if it was real. Don't trust any phone number or anything else that the potential scammer gives you, and don't let them pressure you into staying on the line. If they do, then you can be sure it's a scam.

  • @marcusmoonstein242

This is the best possible advice for avoiding phone scams and phishing. Another tip: fraudsters often try to induce a sense of false urgency, to try and get you to panic and make decisions without thinking. A common ploy is to claim they're from your bank and that someone is buying stuff with you credit card number, and if you don't act RIGHT NOW you'll be liable for thousands of dollars of debt. If someone tries to instill a sense of urgency in you, that is a huge red flag.

@@marcusmoonstein242 and with deep fakes now pulling heinous kidnapping scams, it's important that if someone calls you pretending to have kidnapped someone you know, that you don't believe it until you have called them yourself or had someone else call them to verify that they are actually in danger. That's a tougher line to walk admittedly. It means going to a neighbor or other family member and having them quickly call that person to see if they answer, and if not, they can call the cops.

Text to speach is most important for AAA games, cos studios half of the costs sometimes is the localisation. Don't forget: TV show Simpsons was on the way to be canceld, cos the costs for localisation are enormous high. Ai driven games will be the future cos' nobody really wanna click dialogs in 2024 for example.

9:27 They were *simulating* having an existential crisis about not being real. That’s what AI does. It simulates intelligence. It simulates sentience and subjective personhood. They are a much more sophisticated and useful version of a chatbot but they are still chatbots because they simulate intelligence instead of having seemingly intelligent responses programmed in by hand but in the end it is still a simulation (at least for now).

The whole shape of fighter planes so far has been largely based on the need for a human pilot. Without the need for pilots the resulting empty space in retrofitted jets can be filled either with extra ammo, weapons systems and even extra sensory capabilities. Without the biological limitations of G-force in the way, a craft could be designed to make much tighter turns over a few hundred metres instead of several miles.
