Richard Gadd is truly courageous to reenact his harrowing, shocking real life experience of being stalked. I hope that there were plenty of emotional support counsellors on that set.

I’m sure the reason he needed to act it out was to take control and direct a situation that was out of his control at the time. That is the catharsis, the therapy.

Jessica Gunning was really chilling as Martha, a testament to her incredible acting skills. It must have been mentally tough to put herself in a stalker's shoes, but she pulled it off with aplomb.

Someone compared Jessica’s performance to Kathy Bates’ performance in Misery. I haven't seen the movie in its entirety, but from the clips I've seen from the movie, I have to agree.

I thought the honesty of his actions towards martha were really brave to admit. Often, people forget that the "perfect victim" rarely exists. His empathy towards her after the nightmare she put him through truley speaks to his character.

Baby Reindeer is such an important work of art, it shines a light on the complex trauma response that so many experience. Sexual violence against men is also so entrenched in shame that it is underreported. I hope that this work gives others courage to bring their experiences to light.

Speaking as a male bartender, these are reasons why I have hard boundaries with guests and try to teach them to others, especially my female coworkers. If anything ever becomes too uncomfortable, I'm the fall guy because I'm gonna handle it. The customer is not always right. It's either the most privileged or the loneliest/creepiest that has the audacity to think they have free reign in bar spaces. "Don't talk to me like that." "Don't talk to her like that." "Don't touch me like that." "Don't touch her like that." Seems easy to say but the dynamics of male/female encounters and micro/macro behaviors is something we deal with constantly. Grateful for the depths of this show in all aspects.

She gave a great performance and I believe the "real" Martha is complaining now about the way she was portrayed in the series and wants to sue Netflix. Sent from my Nokia.

I think so many people liked watching this series is because it is not a black and white story, and exposes the complexity of human nature. It is those who get it who do not judge either Gadd or Martha, but show empathy instead. Also Teri- what a character!

He did a poor job of hiding her identity. His Twitter account was open and there were tweets from a woman in 2014 that made it clear she was the stalker. Those tweets are gone but there are screenshots. She's posting on Facebook and threatening to sue. The drama isn't over.

I mean, he literally has the receipts. People deal with trauma in many ways, just because you can't imagine being able to do this, doesn't make it untrue. Consider educating yourself by reading something like "The Body Keeps The Score" which shines a light on traumatic stress and how it affects people.
