@@yumri4 it's optional to use and usually meant for the much harder difficulties. It's also an iconic unlockable in the RE games and can be quite fun on repeat playthroughs. Currently on my 7th Village run and it's a blast to use

@yumri4 I can speak for Re 8. At village of shadows difficult you need at least 1 weapon with infinite ammo (the wolfsbane) to finish it without losing your mind... Even with that the Heisenberg boss battle and Chris part are still hard. And infinite ammo are also useful to do challenges easily.

My favourite example of this is from Into the Breach; once you unlock every achievement (or beat the game with every unique team, I cant remember) you unlock the enemy types as playable units, and get to control your own versions of them- it's really cool!

Another great example of this, I can't remember the specific name of the game, but was a turn-based combat Lord of the Rings game. In the first playthrough you are a band of heroes following in the footsteps of the main characters from the actual story, and essentially cleaning up the mess they leave behind. It introduces a load of characters from the books who never made it to the film etc In your second playthrough, with absolutely no warning or indication, you are given the option to play as the Axis side and play as Saurons minions, including the Balrog, Saruman,Witch King, Nazgul and Sauron himself. If you don't mind turn-based combat (and I love it) this is one of the best post-game unlocks I've ever played with.

@@skmo7072 every time you die or every time you finish the game or every time you get a new item or every time you unlock a new boon or every time you give specific items to characters in the starting area and every time you die to some new monster in the game you always unlock something. Especially when finishing the game once you actually have to do that 10 more times to get an actual ending and you have to do it another 100 times to get even more stuff. It's absolutely crazy I'm playing it right now and I'm having the time of my life it's an amazing game

I still remember to this day how amazed and happy I was when i first discovered the whole Kanto region bonus thing after beating Pokemon Silver for the first time. That was truly great for me since I was crazy about the original Pokemon series and like every new addition less.

Man, 15 was my first final fantasy game and it got me hooked on the series

The killstar in farcry blood dragon was my favorite post game unlock. Literally explodes enemies with a laser.

Here's my favourite entry. At the end of The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night, getting a transformation that makes you ridiculously OP in the middle of an insanely hard final boss fight leaves quite an impact. It makes us wish we had it throughout the rest of the game as it was hard as nails to make it through. If you beat the bonus challenges unlocked after beating the main game, you gain the ability to do exactly that. You can turn into Dark Spyro by pressing a specific button afterwards. It turned once formidable bosses into a joke because Dark Spyros Dark Aether beam was not only able to rinse health bars at lightning speed, but it could reach over long distances and cost practically no mana at all. After a display of that strength I can see exactly why Malefor turned irredeemably evil in favour of this power going to his head.

An earlier Spyro game did that too. Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage, IIRC? Gave you infinite flight and infinite fireballs if you beat the game and got 100% of the collectables, you got to go to that resort that your characters have been trying to go to for the entire game and you can finally open that door there. Behind that door is a _permanent_ powerup that gives you free reign over the entire game. Only problem is...... there's no real gain from doing this because you already picked up all the collectables, beat all the bosses, and did all the quests. But still, it's there.

@@Dhalin i though it was just the infinite fireballs. Anyway, it carries over to new game because of how memory was stored in the Playstation. This carries over to the switch version, and you have to do the button combination cheat from the pause screen for infinite fireballs to turn it off if you don't want your second playthrough to be too cheesy

The canon tunic for Link in breath of the wild is insane for a “post game” reward i think.

Story of my life I stopped play this game because I had grinded about 250k worth on XP and I was going to fly to the hotel that give you a x2 XP bonus when I tried to land I used the autopilot to land but I landed me in the middle of the sea and I died when I spawned I did so outside a dungeon BEFORE I had grinded all my XP

Can add my saltiness to this. Got a rare encounter from that mecha that dropped some...rareish gear? Then I went for a drive when dear Prompto wanted to stop for a photo-op. I brought up the map to hem and haw over it, then CANCELLED out of the menu that was loading too slow for my impatient self that I pressed it again. The very same cancel button that happens to be the same and only button you needed to spontaneously take flight. Which it did. Right into a light post on the highway. And they blew up. After I regained some semblance of function after watching that disaster happen right before my eyes I loaded it up to see that no, autosave did not kick in to keep my rare gear drop. And that was the day I stopped playing.

My favorite post game content came from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Unlocking Oathkeeper and Oblivion was so sick, and redoing missions with them made the game so much more exciting.

I was thinking about this yesterday. In Far cry 3 you need to go through the whole game before you get the wing suit. Once you have it there's no need to play any more.

kahn - toe is correct, its not can - toe, japanese a makes an ah sound at all times unlike english a where sometimes its an ah or an A. Joto / Johto, was mispronounced because japanese has it in a definite syllable based and never combine letters to make a new sound. example, mitsubishi japanese will have it for each letter which is mi-tsu-bi-shi, but english would have you combine the t with the starting syllable because.... uh.... so it'll be mit - su - bi -shi. so him pronouncing it that way was because he combined the T with the first syllable, there are no editors proof checking these videos, and he never watched pokemon johto journeys english release because the theme song says johto like a million times.

You also can get Gungnir after beating AC Valhalla. You go back into the cave at the end turn left near the entrance and there it is.

Devil may cry 5, when you unlock Nero's devil trigger that was lost at the beginning of the game. It's a perfect moment of the character gaining power ingame as a story element and you the player being excited to GET YOUR POWER BACK, but then when you replay the game which IS FUN! Nero has his devil trigger AND his devil arm grab now for the whole game! and its such an exciting feeling for anyone who enjoys the higher difficulty's and missed his power set from DMC4

"GUN" gives you a 7-barrel shotgun when you complete it. Insanely OP. Also a variant that shoots cannonballs

Devil trigger of Nero after you finish DMC 5 is the best thing you can unlock

I've been playing Chrono Trigger since 1995, you can't even get the best gear unless you do 3-4 playthroughs, literally spent decades finding all the secrets and the dozen or so endings and maxing out every single stat on every character. The story is about time travelling and due to the insane story writing, being able to travel in time to past/present/future and on top of it the new game+ mechanics make it so the game kind of never ends.

In Doom Eternal, you can play Doom 1 on the secret computer in his man cave after beating the main story. Pretty awesome detail

For me, control had an awesome moment, where after you finish the “final” boss, the end credits roll, but slowly begin getting corrupted and there’s a whole extra mission after the game that also unlocks some new side quests and things to do

boktai had a similar thing to the shades, the first run you had no clue waht was going on but in successive playthroughs more of the closed door dialog was revealed each time which made certain things a lot clearer because it turns out you werent the only hero going around but this fact is only vaguely hinted at by the end of the first run and instead the guy appears to just randomly side with you after yet another beatdown

I thought they would include the invisibility item in Metal Gear Solid. The entire game is about sneaking around and hiding. But if you beat it you get an item that lets you moon walk right past 90% of the enemies. I used to love messing with the NPC's. It completely changed the game. You got to see all the stuff you missed by having to sneak.

You’ve always been able to visit the Kanto region after beating the elite four in both Gold and Silver. This was definitely not a new thing for the DS version, in fact it was a point of pride for one of the programmers because they were able to fit the entire original game into the Gold and Silver. Through skillful and efficient programming, they managed to get them both, a feat once thought impossible for the limitations of the old cartridges.

I hope that whoever decided that one can't unlock Mjlonir until you finish the game has been sacked and blacklisted from any and all game design positions in the industry. This holds true for everyone else that pulls the nonsense of keeping a powerful weapon locked until you complete the game. The actual, objectively better design choice would be to make those uber powerful weapons obtainable while there's still a decent amount of challenges that it would be helpful to have said weapon around. I wouldn't mind if there's still a convoluted process or a heaping grinding requirement or anything else that requires significant effort. Especially in AC: Valhalla; it would really be nice to have Mjlonir to help out when I get impatient and try to tackle challenges that are double or triple my current arbitrary power level

Bravely Default One and Two had such crazy endings. Like you beat the game and you’re like, “Well that was fun!” and then stuff just hits the fan from there.

In Shadow of War after you finish all the side quests you get a cut scene that shows how the main character ends up and really ties up the story, but it's a extra 40 ish hours to finish it but it's worth it

Lunar: Eternal Blue did something like this back in the day, you save the world, the credits roll but then, hold on , we still have to save Lucia, so lets go on another adventure

@@V92LTHEREAL FFVII Remake. I know the original is a classic and it was my favorite, but seeing the world fleshed out and in HD made me nostalgic for a place I’ve never been and that’s a feeling I have never experienced before.

Pokemon gold and silver will always be my favourite for this very reason. Im still holding out hope that we eventually get a Pokemon game that lets us go to every region.

You should have included yakuza like a dragon. Literally right before the final boss battle you finally unlock kamurocho. It pretty much doubles the total area of the maps

I liked Journey's white outfit after collecting everything. Felt so good

We can all agree that having to complete everything in a game to get the best things in the game is stupid and defeats the propose. At least let there be NG+ with these items. Or just make it available from the start but you have to put in the time to get them.

In Dragon Quest VIII Journey of the cursed king, once you beat the game you have a whole other store part learning about the reason the main protagonist is immune to curses. I put so many hours into that game. It was great.

Code Vein only lets you have access to certain classes and skills on a second playthrough. Not compelling per se but definitely a thing. Alsp certain Dark Souls weapons in DS3 are only accessible by merging different boss weapons together.

I'd like to interject at the 3:33 mark when you (Falcon) said that the FFXV 'Airship-Car' wasn't hinted at in any of the trailers or promotional material. There actually was a hint at it in one or two trailers during one of the update announcements for the game... though in that trailer you only saw it transform and lift off the ground... but it was definitely a big deal in the FF community when that little bit of it was shown.

Dragon Quest 7. You literally get to fight God after the main game.

@@cuentaalterna3754 thats wrong, germanz can pronounce Japanese way better then the other way around. Dunno why that is but if you wrote something in Japanese we can pronounce it pretty good. We dont even need a teacher for that if you write it in Rōmaji. Well if it would be Kanji we need definitely a teacher..

@@Vanadium hahaha, i wasnt trying to be litelral, i know that there are people around the world that can speak perfect japanese... i just find weird that many people get triggered for stuff like the wrong spelling of the name of a fictional world/person/object...

I absolutely love both the DrakeNier series and Ada Wong, so i’m glad they found a way to be on a list together

Only problem with AC Valhalla was by the time you get Thor’s armor set and weapon, there was no more content in the game to really enjoy using it because there isn’t a “new game +” (at least not at the time).

For the Nier boys: After ending E you can pick up Kaine sword. It's where you meet her for the first time.

@@christianbethel many of us have too many games and a backlog to give two shits about playing a game AGAIN (at least any time soon, certainly not right after...). So yes shit like this is stupid. Hell I only got around to replaying Mass Effect trilogy LAST YEAR before playing Andromeda... 1. cause I didnt' buy the digital version of ME 1 on PS3 till AFTER I had played 2 & 3 when they released, so I had never played 1 to begin with. 2. I screwed up in 3 somehow the first time and completely missed playing the Citadel DLC and something else... 3. And I wanted to replay them anyway b4 Andromeda. But Andromeda wasnt' even a rumor before I wanted to replay them. But I didnt' get around to it till then...

thats how i felt with Dark Cloud with getting The Chronical 2 sword when all the enemies are weak to it and theres no challenge in it anymore.

Beating Ratchet & Clank and unlocking Challenge Mode, is always a +

Number 1 : 007 mode in Goldeneye 64 when you finish the game in every difficulty. Damn, I still remember the day I did it. Almost have a hard attack, and discover (you didn't have Internet yet) there is another mode, the 007 : the game is just a sandbox where you can set everything (health, damage, accuracy...) and skyrock the replayability of the game.

Silent Hill alien endings are fun as well. I'm surprised there was no mention of the Resident Evil 8 lightsaber.

what happened? the better question is what DIDNT happen. also, the lightsaber is an unlockable reward, like the one in silent hill 3. so its more of a joke overpowered weapon than anything else.

I don't think that counts as finishing the game. That's just the final chapter of the game

To go a long with your number 5 pic on Neir replicant you get Kainé sword via unlocking ending E. Only way to do so is by collecting all weapons before finishing ending C and 9 of those weapons can only be obtained in the 1st act as young Neir. If you miss one weapon in act 1 you gotta start a new save.

Im on my 41st playthrough of Final Fantasy 15. Im actually attempting to do a 100% playthrough on my channel. First of all i freaking LOOOOOOVE the game! Favorite game of all time. Secondly, i can say that the Regalia Type-F is DEFINITELY fun to fly. It can be a little bit of a pain to land. Especially when you wanna land near the Rock of Ravatogh to get to the secret dungeon. But other then that, its so fun to fly.

I'm disappointed that Chrono Trigger wasn't here. It was the FIRST game to have new game plus. Then, in the DS version, after beating the game and loading your save, you get 3 new dungeons with new bosses and awesome new gear. After beating all 3, you get a new super boss. If you beat the super boss, you get a new best weapon for your protagonist in new game plus.

Me. Even though I was 21 when Pokemon was first created, I have never played the Trading Card version or any of the games, just not my thing, I do however realise that it is a massive franchise the world over and so anyone who works in the gaming industry really should have a decent knowledge of this topic.

The Sunlight Spear in Dark Souls 3 is one thing that belongs on a list like this. Making a faith build is basically only reliable in New Game + because you get the most important miracle only after beating the final boss.

Getting the stealth gadget in MGS or the bandanna was crazy back in the day. Can’t believe you missed that one.

"A weirdly dark ending"? You bloody torture a guy while playing him, how is this dark compared to that?

Psychologically dark and a lot of people don't consider torture dark as much as just violent or brutal

I think it is anti climatic to have best weapon at the end....

I'm glad neir Automata did that. "Sorry if I spelled that wrong." It adds so much to the story when it commits to being realistic. Only then can a story convey any important messages.

Not really a post game unlock, but I love the Devil May Cry tradition of playing through the end credit sequence. Yeah I’m pretty sure you can’t die in this mode and that it doesn’t even try to challenge you since it just throws basic lesser demons your way, but it’s at least a cute trick to keep us engaged even after the final boss. Oh, also JACKPOT!

I'm surprised you didn't mention Kingdom Hearts Chain of memories! That rebirth version after the main story goes so hard!!!

I'll never forget the day when I first discovered that the whole Konto region was added in Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal. It just blew my seven year old mind :')

I hate these kinda unlocks lol cause after I beat a game I usually don’t replay it besides getting collectibles, but I do that during the first play through.

Resident Evil 4 had the hand cannon that you could unlock after you got es ranking on all the mercenary missions that unlocked after beating the game that truly is the ultimate reward for that game and it is amazing to take out bosses with one shot

one thing I liked about the Star Ocean franchise was that you opened bonus dungeons with the best stuff in the game and could go back at any time to refight the final boss with all the new stuff, while the rerelease of Chrono Trigger added this feature with the new game+ feature making it a whole new game for those that played the original

Star Ocean 2 was a doozy. The optional dungeon there was awesome, and there was a superboss that you could summon after you fought it at the bottom of the bonus dungeon, but that's not all! A random NPC in the game can make the final story boss so ludicrously powerful, it's absolutely ridiculous. You'll want to have that aforementioned superboss on farm before you even think about taking Indalecio's limiter off.

@@Dhalin I honestly wish they would drop a PC remaster of them on Steam, I remember playing a remaster of the first one on I think the gamboy advance years back, but as of now all I've seen out was an HD remaster of the last one out (Star Ocean Last Hope) and I've never seen Star Ocean 2 even be hinted at a remaster or remake update especially since Star Ocean and Star Ocean 2 are the grandparents of all the crafting systems in games today, and also the first to have the private action system (used partially later in the original FF 7 for some fun moments though not as extensively) but I have to take back about not being anywhere as Gamefaqs shows there is versions for the PS3, 4 and Vita out (Just not PC, a real shame too since it's way easier to update for a single type)

Excuse me, but what regions are Con-toe and Jaw-toe? I know Kanto and Johto, but not those others.

@Rusty00 I see what you mean. I'm basing what I know mostly off of the English dub of the anime/cartoon. And I could *swear* they say it as "can-toe"?

Too many times have I got some sweet item at the end of a game only to not care since I'm done after the credits roll. Doesn't matter if I didn't finish side quests or whatever it might be. I'm off to the next game.

Bayonetta 1, beating it on infinite climax. You get the best weapon in the game. Pillow talk. It’s a light saber when charged holds it charge for about 10 seconds after doing it the damage it does is insane. Plus infinite climate is such a pain it turns off witch time.

Should've added the Disgaea series after the video was over as a bonus because the real game doesn't start until you beat the main story.
