Law of Laplace. The larger balloon is more distensible because it is larger. Same reason its difficult to START blowing up a balloon, but once its started, it gets easier. As spheres grow, they become more compliant.

LIKE THIS SO EVERYBODY CAN SEE IT. At 6:00 the baloon with the lower volume filled the other baloon because according to the ideal gas equation ( pv = nrt) gas with the lower volume has more gas pressure. So it caused the air with the more pressure to flow to the other side.

But why is the larger balloon larger if it has less gas pressure? My thought is that it is because the rubber offers less resistance than does the smaller one. Anyone who has blown up a balloon knows, the balloon gets easier to blow up as the rubber gets thinner as it expands. But honestly I'm not sure of what forces are what.

William Ross the volume increases cubic (x³) but the amount of mole increases directly (x). Since it always needs to balance itself with the atmospheric pressure (baloons are constant pressure systems) it's p times v scale is constant. It needs to lower it's pressure while it's getting it's volume bigger so it can cope with the atmospheric pressure. Bigger baloon has less gas pressure but bigger volume. The little baloon has more pressure but less volume because of that.

Folks, this is a well studied problem in physics. The smaller balloon has MORE pressure inside because of a phenomenon called "Laplace Pressure" -- the excess pressure inside a body due to its curvature. The excess pressure varies inversely with the radius of curvature. Since the smaller balloon has a smaller radius, it actually has a greater excess pressure .... hence air flows from a region of greater pressure to lower pressure (smaller to bigger balloon, counterintuitively ....)

Im pretty sure the paper doesnt light because metal is a very good conductor and it takes heat away form the spot where there is fire really fast, so it absorbs the heat quickly, and there isn't enough heat to make a fire.

+taras kul the air goes from the smaller to the bigger balloon because of this factor called 'excess pressure' which the the difference between internal and external pressure which is [P(i)-P(e)] now, to calculate the excess pressure, we use the formula 2T/R where t is the tension and r is the radius of each balloon. both balloons have similar tensions so what comes in consideration is the radius. Since its inversely proportional, the larger balloon(greater radius) has a lesser excess pressure as compared to the smaller balloon(smaller radius). since its always higher to lower pressure, it goes from the smaller to the bigger. love your videos man, keep em coming! senpai notice me xD

For the balloons: maybe the air flows towards that direction because the bigger balloon has a "weaker" surface (because it's more inflated), so there is less (mechanical) resistance to get into it. You would have to blow harder in the small balloon, so that's why the air doesn't go over there.

also the metal in the strainer conducted the heat evenly around it, so that is why it not catching on fire

So im gonna tell you why the toilet paper doesnt burn: 1) It has to do with conduction. Metals are good heat conductor. The metal absorbed the heat and it lowers the temperature before it gets to the toilet paper. 2) Its like iron gauze that we commonly use in lab. It prevents heat from conducting to the glass. Because commonly, pressurized flask might explode when heated.

The smaller balloon has less gas in it, therefore when the balloon depressurizes the balloon will collapse or implode the gas is forced out since it can't push outward enough to fight back or stop it from imploding. The bigger balloon has much more gas, therefore the gases can keep the balloon from imploding. (This is my hypothesis, correct me if I'm wrong.) And when the gases is forced out of the balloon, through the tube and into the larger balloon.

The smal balloon inflates the bigger one because the elastic (rubber) in the balloon has greater force when he is smaller. Try blowing one up and you will feel it gets esier when the balloon gets bigger😊. btw I love your vids. Keep it up!
