Hi 👋 ! My Name is Alice, I created The Mini ADHD Coach in august 2020 when I was just diagnosed with ADHD at 29.
After years of questioning, therapy, burnouts and chaotic career path changes I finally understood why I was struggling with so many things.
So I decided to share what I learned to raise awareness around ADHD and help the ADHD community thrive.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder that affects people of all ages. ADHD can significantly impact one's personal and professional life. In this video, we will be discussing 10 common symptoms of Adult ADHD that can help you recognize if you or someone you know may be experiencing this disorder.
One of the hallmark symptoms of ADHD is difficulty with attention and concentration. You may find yourself getting distracted easily, having trouble focusing on tasks, and frequently losing or misplacing items. In addition, you may struggle with organization, time management, and completing tasks on time. These symptoms can lead to a feeling of overwhelm and frustration, making it difficult to manage daily responsibilities.
Impulsiveness is another common symptom of ADHD that can cause problems in personal and professional relationships. This can manifest as interrupting others during conversations, making impulsive decisions, and difficulty waiting for one's turn.
Additionally, forgetfulness is a symptom that can be frustrating, as it can lead to missed appointments, forgetfulness of important details, and difficulty recalling things.
Hyperactivity is a common symptom of ADHD that can manifest in various ways in adults. It can manifest as feeling constantly restless or fidgety, difficulty sitting still, and being always "on the go." This symptom can make it challenging to relax or feel calm, leading to feelings of anxiety or stress.
On the other hand, some people with ADHD may experience periods of intense focus or hyperfocus, which is not an official symptom of ADHD. Hyperfocus is when a person with ADHD becomes completely absorbed in a task or activity that they find interesting or enjoyable. This intense focus can lead to losing track of time and neglecting other responsibilities.
While the symptoms of ADHD may seem overwhelming, it's important to remember that help is available. There are strategies and techniques you can learn to manage your symptoms and improve your quality of life. However, it's important to note that this list of symptoms cannot be used as a diagnostic tool, and seeking professional assessment is essential if you suspect you have ADHD.
In conclusion, recognizing the symptoms of ADHD is an essential first step in managing this disorder. Remember to be kind to yourself and seek professional help if you suspect you have ADHD. With the right support and strategies, you can overcome the challenges of ADHD and lead a fulfilling life.

I am undiagnosed but am pursuing a diagnosis as I strongly believe I have ADHD due to having a vast number of its symptoms, and how detrimental and almost crippling they've become to me as of beginning my adult life the past few years (which is what formally makes something a disorder). I decided to make this video a game of Put a Finger Down, and ended the video with all 10 fingers down. I'm certainly not surprised in the slightest...

@Simon G King Yeah the losing interest in things when the novelty factor wears off (or when they prove to be more intricate than I initially anticipated) and the "smart/talented/high potential but lazy" aspects of it really do hit home really hard for me. I've noticed that since I was a little kid, I've had the bad habit of starting things but not finishing them. Drawings, books, games, series/cartoons, new self-improving habits, new hobbies and strong interests/obsessions (which I've had PLENTY of throughout my life), chores, projects, financial endeavours, new skills, etc. It's so embarrassing how many hobbies, skills and projects I've started with so much hunger and hyperfocus, and then dropped not long after for no valid reason at all. It's gotten to the point where it's affected me financially, as I've invested money into buying things for said hobbies and projects, even paying for pricey courses, etc but never finished them and ended up losing/wasting the money invested in the process. Then I'm just stuck with a graveyard of unfinished projects and dreams just laying around the house to add onto the feeling of shame. But I can never get rid of them because in my mind I'll return to them one day, despite how unrealistic that truly is. It truly sucks man. 😓 Oh and btw, I'm a woman but don't worry, I'm not offended that you called me "man" because you had no way of knowing 😄

It's kinda funny how the type of voice this video's narrator has is the kind of thing that really triggers my ADHD. Something about the overly calm gaspy tone to it just makes it really hard to focus, sorta gets me jumpy and puts me on edge, and makes it harder to internalize what is being said. I had occasional teachers and a former therapist who had a voice like this, and it made it an extra struggle.

One area I have excelled at (to the point of being somewhat overboard at times) is not being late to something. It's more of an anxiety thing and I'm prone to forget all sorts of stuff, but I make it a point to remember when to be somewhere, but with that I wind up scheduling far too much time to travel and get there which often leaves me hanging around for a good while until the appointment. My wife constantly reminds me of this and to chill out, but I'm just so fearful of not making it on time and having to deal with whatever consequences there are (definitely a fear and anxiety component there). And I will avoid starting things so as to not get tied up as I want to make sure I am able to leave to be on time. I do have time blindness in many other ways, but I'm never late.

Been binging ADHD materials since my therapist suggested we explore my ADHD tendencies, which have occurred since childhood. I feel almost vindicated that I'm not dumb or incompetent at my job or in school (albeit on paper, I'm high-achieving), but I could have a biological/medical reason as to why I procrastinate at every task or project that's boring or uninteresting, and why I struggle with minutiae, especially making careless mistakes.

That's about it for my side effects, I try to make sure over gotten sleep now before taking them.

It's amazing how you can cope with some of these when you've had ADHD for a long time. I've been diagnosed since I was 8 (at least) and I have habits now, for example, to accommodate the disorganization, I've got special places on my desk, or certain pockets for my daily items such as keys, wallet, phone, etc that cannot change. Then when I leave the house, I have to count the items in my pocket and do a little ritual song out-loud, 'keys, comb, lens cloth, phone, wallet, mask', and if someone talks to me or rushes me out the door before I'm late, I end up leaving the house in a right huff. (Anyone with ADHD family members, DO NOT rush them when they are trying to remember things, they confuse easily and will just have to turn the car around to come back then REALLY be late). Also, relying on hyperfocus, you can't control it, but I have found that if I open the programs, scripts, video editor etc on my PC and force myself to re-read a script, EVENTUALLY the hyperfocus may click in the direction you want. Doesn't stop me from losing control and converting a quick dog-mess cleanup into a soak-up, wipe, bristle brush scrub, furniture rearrange, tile steam clean, dog bed wash, dog wash and furniture rebuild when I have an unrelated deadline to meet, though.

@@23respectme Oof, I did that back when I worked (terminated awhile back and trying the KZread thing) but I used to go to my shift and pass out in my chair as soon as I got home. That tapered off after work ended, so I assume it was just the workload rather than ADD, though the meds might have masked it until they ran out at home.

I can relate! I was diagnosed in the 4th grade and was on meds for a little while, but my parents took me off of them because my behavior changed and it kinda scared them. Plus I had an allergic reaction to the patches. Haven't been on meds for it since, but I've found good ways to cope and keep my life organized. I mark down important dates asap on my calendar as well as my work schedule. I set reminders and alarms before I have to go do something important. I have notepads and pens around the house so I can make lists for shopping, tasks, and especially on hand for when I'm in an important phone call and may need to jot something down quickly. I also can't remember my passwords and usernames by heart, so I have them all written down and kept safe in one place for when I need them. I still struggle here and there of course, but I'm pretty proud of myself for staying as organized as I am. If only my child-self could see me now!

I recently have been researching adhd symptoms and will be seeing a doctor soon. I have a feeling I may have inattentive adhd because some of my family members have adhd, and people Ive talked to who have diagnosed ADHD have said that I probably have it too. Plus, autistic people often have adhd as well (I’m autistic). These videos have been helpful for me to understand both myself and others who may have adhd.

I am going to mention that many people who deal with addiction also suffer with ADHD as well. I know, I’m a recovering addict myself who fits 9 of the 10 criteria here. I also have depression and anxiety, epilepsy too. So, I have things to talk about with either my therapist or my neurologist. Contrary to other people’s comments, mental health is important to maintain.

I have all of these, pretty much. Not diagnosed, but it runs in the family. I thought I didn't have forgetfulness, but I've already been compensating for that. Repeating things people say right after so I don't forget and writing everything down, like bills. About focus, that purely depends on my interest. I've always had this, that when I'm not interested, I can't get myself to absorb the information (exams were hell that way). But I can spend days and days working on my interests, which tends to shift to another one after a few months.

I was diagnosed as ADHD-Inattentive a few months ago, and to be honest I'm still struggling to accept it, like I can't seem to accept it in myself but at the same time it answers some things about me. Sometimes I watch videos like these but I'm not sure if I'm looking for something to prove me right or wrong and I don't really know which one I want

I get what you're trying to do here, and thank you for that. But not every ADHD person will solve their issues with calendars, schedules and alarms. We have problems remembering to set the alarm, we lose interest in the agenda no matter how pretty or easy to access. This video just places the ADHD as an easy solving issue instead of making aware others of how difficult it's to live with it. I will appreciate if when making videos you research farther than Google common symptoms for ADHD. For more information there are several KZread channels run by ADHDers. Thank you!

I have adhd and I’m on 100mg adhd medication. I’m a train wreck even the pills stop working. My doctor told me she didn’t know if pills would even help. they do for a while then it stops. I can’t sleep I’m up and down all nite. I move all nite in my sleep right along talking. I forget everything. Which drives me insane. I’ve tore my fingers to pieces. I would give anything to not have it. It’s so awful. I stubble over my words and forget what I’m about to say, because my mind wonders off to somewhere else.

Good video. It's sad that there is still a negative stigma to ADHD. I once told one of my friends that I suspected he had ADHD... he got SO mad at me! as if I had insulted him. :/ Maybe people still think it just means "kid who gets angry easily"? :( To all those who have been treated as if the diagnosis (or the symptoms) make you bad or stupid. Remember the words of Aibeleen (The Help, Kathryn Stockett.): "You is kind. You is smart. You is beautiful"

as an adult with adhd, I have had hyperfocus since 13 years old, maybe younger as it went undiagnosed until I was an adult. I can work days and nights in projects sometimes for 9-10 days consecutively with little rest. It is exhausting the body but I am under treatment and have to make a pact with my psychiatrist to go to bed before 1 am, unless I need to finish projects. The by-products are an excellence in many achievements and unbelievable track records of success in whatever need no human interaction.

My school told my parents I had it early. Impulsiveness was a big thing and focus. Trouble with phone reminders is remembering to put reminders in without getting distracted, or constantly losing my phone and being to stressed with brain noise to find it. I have trained myself to recall via writing and actually have an excellent long term memory, its short term that is an issue and this makes it seem solvable or easy to live with, but its very draining and at times impossible to think in small steps.

Self esteem takes such a hit over time because you just cant excellerate long term at anything, have difficulty growing up. Im 39 and always was told I was just dumb and lazy, not true. Ive learned im smarter than your average bear, and over exert myself daily to the point i completely forget to look after myself. The stigma and knowledge of ADHD was so strong in the nineties and pre 90's that my parents chose to blame me instead of get help, the damage by this point was done and long term. It runs on my mothers side of the family, so she was and has been ashamed of me my whole life. Our relationship now, is ruined.

Don't say trackers help, it doesn't help everyone. I FORGET to check them and people at work or my therapist saying "use a tracker" is infuriating because I have tried to use trackers ALL my life and it just doesn't work. I have to do SOMETHING to force me to check it. People who are like me, if you have a tracker in excel, put it in the startup folder so it pops up when you start your PC. THIS MIGHT help you, it might not. Believe me it is frustrating because I even bought whiteboards to "check it" and never did properly.

Lack of time awareness... And it's like I never seem to learn. Time after time I under/over estimate. I've gotten a heck of a lot better at this over the years. especially after getting put on meds...but still, this is a big struggle of mine and I think it frustrates some people (I don't blame them!). But I'm not really a 'late' person anymore...I'm usually able to get to places on time now...I'm just a "exactly on time' kind of person now. I use to be late so often though that the stress would make me sick and it'd just compound everything. I'd be running late, and then my stomach would knot up, so then I'd have to use the bathroom, but by that point I was super late so I just wouldn't show up at all >.

I'm 23 i can't ride a bicycle one reason i know for sure is fear but other reasons are related to focus and and shifting focus from one thing to another. I'm super unorganized and planners and calenders do almost nothing for me. I have a calendar at work on my desk where I write down doctor's appointments and birthdays more for my coworkers. It helps them if I don't get to work and they don't know why, if it's on my calendar I may have told them and forgot to remind them. Plus I work with teenagers who have grown up in the foster care system and some of them don't handle not knowing where their people are, so it also helps them if they know what's going on, plus they like getting their birthdays and important dates on my calendar, it makes them feel important

And this symtom was happening when I was selling bracelets to my school when i was a fifth grader and one student gave me lots of money and gave me a big order (probably 7 brackets ) and I wasted the money to buy more accessories and I didn't make it on time and I still owe him the money he gave to this day. What I'm trying to say is I have the same symptoms but never got checked by Doctor because who would give a fu-- I meant who would care so I never got checked by doctors because my family doesn't know and I don't tell because they would say "oh no need for this, it will be a waste of time and you are just being lazy that's it" so tell me do you think I have the symptoms or not cause I just found out a week ago so pls comment and bye (dang the comment I made is long) also I have a severe cases of PROCRASTINATING so does that make sense or not (T~T pls help)

Racing mind is definitely me. I spent so many years in mental health. I’ve only ever been diagnosed with major depression. I left mental health treatment years ago since I felt pills didn’t help. I’m currently in the process of considering going back to services to get a rediagnosis of either autism or adhd. The reason is because I noticed I don’t socialize with people. I was an outcast in social situations a good percent of my life. I eat alone at work because my coworkers constantly bully me and talk shit. I take it so personal. I don’t know why I can’t loosen up. I can’t start a conversation worth shit and talk more than 5 minutes. I see others talk for long times and I wonder how they can do that lol. I want to have meaningful conversations but I lose interest sometimes half way. I talk too fast and move too fast and a coworker who just quit would tell me to slow down or chill. I believe I have another issue other than just depression that was left undiagnosed. I’m going back into treatment to see what it is. Oh and drugs are ruled out. I’ve been sober from alcohol for 7 years and 4 months, 3 months from cannabis, and I don’t drink coffee or energy drinks. Sometimes people at work joke I’m on meth because of how fast I move lol. I can’t tell but all this negativity they tell me makes me feel bad about my self but the saying in AA goes “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change (mental challenges) and courage to change the things I can (exercise for mental health, stop drugs for mental health, be around positive people etc) and the wisdom to know the difference.” Long rant lol

I would like to congratulate you for overcoming your alcohol and drugs addiction. Those addictions would have opened spiritual doors which can affect your mental health. You mentioned earlier that you suffered with depression. I am wondering if your life has been absent from trauma in your infant development stages, or whether there is a inherited family predisposition for depression symptoms?

Usually its exacerbated when someone has an accent as well, and I simply cannot understand what they say no matter how many times they repeat it to me. I’ve noticed many times when I ordered food the cashier would say “x” and I wouldn’t understand them and my friend would always need to help sort of translate to me what they said. Its really annoying and I don’t know why this happens to me. Anyone else?

When I was diagnosed back around 1979-1980, I remember my parents took me to a doctor visit and all I remember is afterwards sitting in the doctors office and the doctors telling my parents that I am just a slow learner. And than every school I went to after I would have to leave my regular class and go sit in a room with two to three other kids and work on worksheet packets for about an hour a day. I have no clue how that helped me in anyway I still did terribly in school no matter how hard I worked at it I'd mess something up so once I turned 18 I just dropped out of highschool because I had already been there four years and only had accumulated 10 credits and I think I needed 30 or more to graduate. I figured at that rate it would take me another eight years to get all those so I dropped out and got a job. Yeah so there was nothing done when I was diagnosed but they did not know much about ADHD back than they did not even have the name ADHD for it yet you were just labled as a slow learner.
