Doc Ock beat and unmasked Spider-Man in his first appearance. That's pretty impressive.

Excellent video, but I just wanted to add something. Venom was originally introduced in a story in Legends of the Dark Knight where Batman failed to save someone and started using the super-steroid in Santa Prisca (where Bane was imprisoned). It turned him (more) violent and unhinged, so he quit and turned against the scientist who created it. Having Bane emerge indirectly from one of Batman's biggest failures helped add some thematic richness and helped tie the opponents together. Once again, though, you guys are a lot of fun to watch/listen to, and I'm grateful for all the content. Cheers!

Can't forget Doomsday didn't just "kill" Superman in his debut he also defeated the entire justice league with only one free arm.

I wish they would do more with Bane. I feel like he could be really interesting if used properly.

Yea, you gotta love when young people say that millennia old characters came from the creative minds of Kirby & Lee. They adapted an already existing idea kids.

I nominate Morlun from JMS' Spider-Man run! Sure, he was not exactly a great villain when I first discovered him, and it would be years until he truly hit his stride. Still, his very first appearance brought a pagan, mystical, untamed, unspeakably evil presence into the safe, suburban "friendly neighborhood" world of the wall-crawler. It was kind of a weird fit for Spidey in 2002, more of a Dr. Strange type really. Great to see Morlun finally getting some real meat in "Spider-Verse" and beyond.

I'd go with Doomsday as number one and Bane as number two. I remember reading them when they first came out and was amazed by the sheer immense power of Doomsday he basically takes out the GLA with one hand behind his back but I also loved Banes thinking, the way he wears down batman by making him recapture all the Arkham Asylum escapes.

lol i love "BLORCH!" when Doomsday crushes that poor little bird...i remember getting that comic as a kid, and my brother and i laughing at that panel the whole day....still use that noise sometimes when appropriate ...

Pretty sure Doomsday’s debut was far better than Jokers.

I have no argument with the Joker's place in the pantheon of supervillains. But let's be honest, his first appearance was decent, nothing more. I think you let his overall reputation influence his place on this list

This is the first list that I’d take issue with. I like the villains on this list as much as the next guy, but a lot of these guys’ debuts are nothing special. I’ll give you Ra’s al Ghul, Galactus, Bane, Apocalypse, Doomsday, and Joker. But Loki, Magneto, GG, and Dr. Doom? Look, I love those guys, but their debuts weren’t as meaningful as those of some other villains. Those guys are more famous for what they’ve done FOLLOWING their first appearances. What about Venom? His debut spun out of Marvel’s first real event comic and cemented a special relationship between him and Spider-Man. Or how about the Anti-Monitor, whose debut literally saw the rewriting of the DCU because of his destruction of the multiverse? Deathstroke? Ultron? Trigon? Dark Phoenix, whose debut is heralded as the greatest X-Men story ever? I’d say those guys have better debuts.

It really sucks that Bane entered as a legit threat only to be lowered to the mid-card

I like joker as much as the next person, but he does not have the best debut by a long shot. Doomsday should be number 1 and Bane 2.

Uhhh... I don't think that's right. As far as I can tell the first appearance of Magneto was "The X-Men #1" Sept 1963.

Brilliant tactician* It's the only strategy that could defeat Batman. What's annoying is that every new major villain introduced in Gotham now resorts to the same general plan, making Batman run a gauntlet of other villains. He's a trendsetter.
