I know that Ewan is actually presenting an article written by someone else, as that is what often happens with these lists, but I wish that few more sets of eyes had looked at this before it was presented because it reads like someone who either dislikes comics, doesn't understand them or only started reading them recently with no sense of history. You have several instances where you are talking about completely different characters who happen to share the same name. You are completely missing decades of character growth (as in Green Arrow losing his fortune and becoming a crusader for the oppressed before the New 52 reboot or Garth growing to become Tempest) or continuity (preceding the SIlver Age Sandman mentioned, there was Wesley Dodds, The Golden Age Sandman, a member of the Justice Society and main character in Sandman Mystery Theatre. All of whom where connected in one way or another to the Dreaming and Morpheus.) I usually enjoy these reports but when it is so painfully obvious that the person writing hasn't done the homework, it just makes me sad.

Totally agree. The fact they started as pure fantasy in a rather naive way has nothing to do with our present cynicism. Besides, calling the original Robin "awful" is absolutely ridiculous, not to mention, Great Caesar's Ghost, the Original Superman. "Super"-heroes are named after HIM. I know it's an age thing, but calling classic heroes "awful" seems the educated way a brat that picked up comics after Nolan's trilogy would come up with. And come to think of it, wouldn't a Justice League secretary-like, coffee making Wonder Woman be more "awful" before George Perez' work? Poor research.

    10. Wasn't Comet *Supergirl's* horse? And in love with *her* in one story, not Lois? 5. Grayson didn't stand in as Batman after Knightfall, that was Jean-Paul Valley. Grayson first donned the ears when Bruce decided to take a year off to decide if he still wanted to be Batman, something that took place some time after AzBats was taken down. 4. Stephanie Brown had the shortest tenure as Robin. I think she lasted only a few months, and is probably considerably shorter by the comics' timeline. 2. The original Batwoman was said to be the current one's Aunt, as I recall. Unless DC has retconned that since Flashpoint, I don't know.

They literally became the superman family. Remember the 5 year jump and new magic supes powers started infecting people? Same shit. Superboy prime was created by the time trapper. His earth was an earth that was way out of continuity by producing the legionnaire lives in a comic book. In that universe prime is the only super powered being. That's because the crisis came to his world and woke him up. Turned out he was the last remnant of God superman. Plus an original kryptonian reality spin off where he had his kryptonian strength already inherited from planet size and gravity. science. But grows stronger under the actual burning sun. Even worlds finest superman doesn't compare and him and batman grew up together. Lol

Lol. His results were a planet that already existed, it fooled the legionnaires, until they met him. But he was gone already. It turned out that the time trapper just opened up the multiverse from his end during the actual crisis. Coincidentally the same time storm the trapper created opened primes world and superman flew right in. Met superboy and took off. Superboy didnt realize he lived in what was a prime world. A superboy that never met them. Turned out they were right, post crisis superman shows up when they land in his smallville and fights sunboy and block. HE QUICKLY explains that he was never superboy. The superboy that the legion actually met, dies. He returns from an adventure where he saved an alternate superman's life in a bubble. Tells them what happens and dies in front of everyone. That was the superboy they were supposed to meet. One that never knew them. Instead the crisis subverted two superboys toward the legion they had never met. In other words the trapper got that world destroyed. So they find kal and it turns out that Saturn boy himself had murdered the trapper and took over. Created the pocket universe in his image because his gf died. Just saying. Funny huh, the controller that was the actual trapper inside the maw gets murdered by jan in an alternate line who then gets replaced by prime himself. Apparently shazam didnt have that actual cornerstone during the actual event. Which plays in the background of every DC backdrop. The infinite war continues on. 9. Aqualad's big problems included, first, he was too dark for the Silver Age. (Seriously, he was basically left for dead by his own parents because of superstition.) Secondly, he had the same problems as Aquaman, too narrow in utility. Thirdly, when he was a kid, his lungs were underdeveloped, so he had to stay underwater. (There's a whole bit in Titans: Year One where Robin subjects him to dangerous experiments. Oh Robin, you war criminal.) The fourth thing is, they always color his eyes wrong, either making his irises black or purple, not actual violet. He was fixed by first, becoming the weather wizard Tempest. He can control all water. And my studies say that's what 2/3 of your typical bad guy is. (Yeah, he's now basically as unintentionally lethal as the Flash, but not on a multiversal scale like the Flash.) Secondly, he can breathe now. And the new Aqualad, Jackson Hyde, is Black Manta's son. That can be doable. 8. Interesting how they make the weak Green Lantern gay. (I mean, to be fair, the Lanterns are also in that same OP category.) 7. Superboy was basically just like Wonder Girl. In fact, both became their own characters. The first effort to fix him was Superboy-Prime, the Clark Kent of our universe. But he wasn't Kryptonian; he did acquire Kryptonian powers, however, and none of the weaknesses. (So, basically, magic kryptonite making loud noises under a red sun won't hurt him.) He was a hero of Crisis on Infinite Earths, so nothing bad will ever happen to him, right? Certainly he won't go wacko from the isolation of his paradise and mourning our universe (Yeah, that happened. Our universe was destroyed in 1986, like nearly other universe. But it was brought back in 2006, along with 50 others. Make of that what you will.) and start committing multiversal genocide while spouting such gems as "You're ruining everything!", "Everything was better on my Earth.", and "I'll kill you! I'll kill you to death!" or anything like that. Death of Superman happened in the meantime. (Another reason DC readers hate Superboy-Prime: He killed Superboy.) The current Superboy is Clark and Lois's son Jon. He's seen with Damian Wayne a lot. Now if we could only get DC to stop calling Damian Ian... 6. Green Arrow is kinda funny because part of this revamp, the Green Lantern/Green Arrow series, led to DiDio "improving" Roy Harper by killing his daughter and making him a drug addict again. 5. The funny thing is how Nightwing is still known as Robin. Though I should mention, the name is a Superman reference. Which has to be epic shade on Dick's part. 4. Quick aside: Jason Todd wasn't really hated except by one dude who called in like, over a hundred times. Also by Jim Starlin, but that was more the concept of Robin, because it made him think of child abuse. So, Jim Starlin did what he always does, killed half the Robins. *snap* 3. Probably the worst thing about Animal Man is, what does he get from imitating what animals? There's little rhyme or reason to it. 2, There was also a Bat-Girl. Yeah, Barbara Gordon is the second Batgirl, followed by Helena Bertinelli, Cassandra Cain, and Stephanie Brown. 1. Ah, the Sandman. What can be said besides, making him more ethereal and giving him six equally ethereal siblings?

His motif and look was pretty standard for heroes of the era (ie: Green Hornet, the Spirit, Doctor Occult) and, while he was never a breakout star on his own, he was well liked within the confines of the JSA and it's later companion title All-Star Squadron so to say the Sandman started out a failure would not be entirely the truth.

Anyone who starts off a list of "awful" characters with Superman clearly doesn't know shit about comics. But why take my word for it? Watch some of his video's and he'll prove it himself

The 1990 sand man was pure cringe it was in the comic era where everything had to be dark and gloomy in order to sale that is the same era that gave us the over the top dark super hero's like spawn, Lobo and Crow
