We are Eleise and Lawrence & Nyh - A young family from the south of England. Like many people the pandemic gave us a shake up! While watching hours of Mark Weins in Thailand - We had our “Ah ha” Moment. We decided we wanted to travel.
Enjoying working for ourselves, we didn’t want to give up our business and decided it was entirely possible for us to do both. So we set about making it our lifestyle to work in the UK for a month, and then travel for a month - month on, month off…. until our little boy Nyh goes to school! We want to inspire people that you don’t have to up-sticks, sell all your belongings and leave behind family to be able to see the world.
Our Philosophy. Work, Travel, Repeat.

The sphinx was actually brought to Split by Roman emperor Diocletian 1700 years ago (Rome controlled Egypt) and he actually brought over 12 sphinxes to his palace. I'm not aware of how many there are today, but there's at least one more that's missing it's head unfortunately. Gregory of Nin (Grgur Ninski) is a very important figure in Croatian history as he opposed the Roman Church's decision that Croatia should use and write in Latin in the 10th century AD. At the time Croats used the Church-Slavonic language in service and wrote in the glagolitsa (glagoljica) script, that we still learn in schools how to use today. Although not extensively and I doubt 95% of Croats could write a sentence in it. Still it's part of our history so we should remember it. Grgur Ninski is actually from Nin, hence the title "Ninski" (someone from Nin), not Split.

@@parttimetravellingfamily no problem. Also an add on to the Gregory of Nin section. His efforts failed and he was removed from his position and appointed the bishop of Skradin, his role being greatly reduced. Latin became the official liturgical language, but mass was still held in Church Slavonic/Glagolitic because very little Croatian priests and other religious heads knew how to speak or write in Latin. Glagolitsa remained in liturgical use until the 1900s.

The sphinxes are located in Split for around half of their existence, around 1700 years. And those people obviously didn't dress as Spartans but Romans haha.
