Great list. Did something similar in Switzerland backpacking in 1979, took a train and cable car to the Shilthorn. Cost $25 back then, which is more than we paid for accomodations. I remember it being the most expensive thing we did in Europe the 2 months we were there. Afraid to hear what the cost might be today. But was well worth it. By contrast, I was in Sicily last year, planned to go to Cefalu from Palermo, got to the train station and they told me the track was closed for maintenance. So I never made in there, as was going to Catania the next day.

Although I've never been to Switzerland, I'm about to go have fun in the UK, as the train tickets are currently very affordable~

We found the 7 Sisters white cliffs in the UK intriguing as well as Eze, France. Looks like wonderful hiking opportunities in both places. Thank you for all do!!
