10 BEST HOME RENOVATION UPDATES AND HOME INVESTMENTS
Today's video is our top 10 best home renovation updates we have made to our home.
We are three years into our renovations now and these are the things that I really feel have transformed the way in which we live in our home.
PS There is some old footage of previous house tours, mixed in with new footage too as our house is just never tidy at the moment as the kids are off school to take any video!
I got inspiration from this video from the lovely Emily. Her video is here- • 10 BEST HOME INVESTMEN...

Thank you so much for such a kind comment Lindsay. Good luck with your first home! Lots of love x
I love what you've done. Especially the back yard. I love the artificial grass. Brilliant choice! You took an old, dated tired house and turned it into a modern family home., also perfect for entertaining. tfs 💗

Thanks so much! It’s a great space for entertaining. Hopefully we will be allowed more people in the garden soon and we can have some BBQ’s! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
One bit of advice on the wardrobe build in the kids room. Add some molding to the edges to close up the gaps and make it look built in.
I love everything about it and honestly the kitchen is the single most beautiful thing I've ever seen!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home and all your ideas and tips with us they are so useful. It’s always so helpful to see something working , practical in a true environment, along with honest how it could perhaps be functional in a different way or what the pit falls were etc. These tv promotional ads can really suck you in ( as they’re designed too) and you end up buying something overpriced that actually doesn’t really work . I look forward to watching many more of videos. 🦋
I am with you when it comes to bespoke wardrobes,they are just far to expensive, your wardrobes are beautiful, I think that if you fill the gaps around the wardrobe and to the ceiling with mdf or something and paint it the same colour, they would look even more beautiful and bespoke like, just the idea, but everything is very tastefully done, I just love it, well done, you have very good taste
@katie_ellison

Thanks so much Barbara. They were so expensive! And yes that’s definitely something we could explore at a later stage. One day I’m not sure if my girls will want to share a room so perhaps then. I’ve seen lots of people on Instagram make their own bespoke wardrobes by using normal wardrobes and filling in and adding doors fit to size. They look great!
Such a good video, Katie! So helpful to know the good points of your renovation! Loved the animated titles too! X

Our house is currently on the market so I'm looking everywhere for inspiration for the next house. Absolutely love the idea of painting everything white then just adding to it when you style a room. I've been a carpet person all my life but cannot wait to get a hard floor down in the next house. Much better for muddy paws! When you did your garage conversion did you change the garage door to a window or is it one of those sneaky ones where you can't tell from the outside?
@katie_ellison

Ah how exciting! Good luck with finding a new house and your house sale of course too. I think painting everywhere white is such a good idea, cause it then acts like a blank canvas and as you live in the house more you can start realising what colours you want etc. We had a blue one of our living room walls for ages and then we just changed it to a greeny grey colour just a few weeks ago, and it’s completely changed the feel of the room just by painting one wall (cause the rest of the walls are white). And I agree I love carpet but hard floors are so handy with kids and dogs aren’t they? 😂
I began following your vlogs when you moved from your old house. That was the first video of yours I ever watched. I have so enjoyed watching your new home to be transformed from outdated to modern. The transformation of the house is incredible, you and John should be so proud of bring the house back to life! Can I just add that the kitchen is goals🤩❤️ Have the old owners seen it done up? x

We got it from a company called tap warehouse x
Love the conservatory extension & am planning something similar myself. What are the dimensions? And what is the depth of the overhang on the gable end? Thanks
Hi Katie, Loved this. Awesome content. Just wondering how the snug room turned out unless I missed it already? Xx
@katie_ellison
4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! We haven't done anything with our snug yet. Just mainly because lockdown happened and we don't really want to be buying any furniture etc at the moment as we both work freelance and therefore it is quite quiet at the moment. I can't wait to do it sometime soon :)
I love your home Katie and your choice of colours. I get a lot of inspiration from you. Just a question, do you have blinds in your conservatory? Does it not bother you that the neighbours can see right in? X
@katie_ellison
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Abbie no we don’t have blinds. We made the decision not to because our neighbours are really in their bedrooms at night when we are sat there if that makes sense. If I think about it too much it bothers me, but no I’ve got used to it. If they are sat downstairs they can’t see in. I wish we weren’t as close to our neighbours and so overlooked, but we wouldn’t have been able to afford a house like this in an area where we weren’t over looked. we’ve planted some trees but we will probably be 90 by the time they grow up enough to stop some of the visibility 😆😆😆 x
Your house is fab! Do you have/could you do video on what you were looking for/compromises when buying you're house... looking to size up in next year or 2 trying to make list of what we want vs need or can afford!
@katie_ellison
4 жыл бұрын
I could definitely do something like that. For us mainly it was about wanting something bigger in a nice area. We had to compromise on being overlooked. I love the area we live, but just wish we weren’t overlooked. But we’d never have been able to get a house of this size not being overlooked if that makes sense. Xx

Love this video idea! We're looking to buy our first home in the next couple of years and there are certain things I think I can't compromise on but probably could ha x
Your home is so beautiful - are you able to share a range of how much the new conservatory cost please? (I know there are so many factors that contribute but I am a first time buyer and you have inspired me to have something similar) And what is the name of the type of glass used to manage temperature control so it’s not too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter? Thanks so much
I have to convince my other half for the artificial grass, im fed up spending my weekends weeding in the garden when i just want to enjoy it! Some look so cheap but im liking yours..Can i ask where u purchased your grass Kate, thanks!❤️

It’s definitely not for everyone, i know some people love gardening etc, but I just find it so practical and easy for with the kids. We got ours from a local company but to be honest I don’t recommend them as for ages he didn’t come back and finish what he was supposed to. Luckily it all worked out in the end but he ignored us in the end when he hadn’t completely finished the work. It’s such a shame cause we used him for our old house as well. Xx

Katie Ellison ah gotcha we’ve been there too, we’ve not had the best of luck with builders etc also, when you find a good handyman that can do a bit of everything AND is trustworthy you have to grab him with both hands❤️
How did you attach the scaffolding shelves to the wall so they look floating? Love these ideas - just about to start our new home renovation 😬 x

I love your kitchen Katie! Is the island the only dining area in your home, or do you have a dining room/plans to renovate one in the future?
@katie_ellison
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! No we do have a dining room, it’s an open plan conservatory and dining room. We tend to mainly sit in the kitchen nowadays though unless we are having a serious dinner 😆😆 like a roast or something! X
lovely video as usual x, are there any issues with your dog weeing on the artificial grass? (is it hard to pick up/get out of the grass) my family has a beagle and currently debating artificial grass in our new home.
@katie_ellison
4 жыл бұрын
No it's fine. We try and train him to go on a patch of gravel round the side of our house instead of the grass but if he does go on the grass we just chuck some water over it. The grass is fine and dogs can wee on it, but you just need to be careful it doesn't start smelling. x
Hello, Lovely home renovation. I would please like to know where your utility room sink and tap are from?
@katie_ellison

The sink is from a company called caple and the tap is from tap warehouse. :)
Love your home. Would you say the colour over your bed is more a grey or a blue tone. Looks fab 😍
@katie_ellison

It’s more of a warm grey I would say. There’s not much blue in it at all. We have one called polished pebble by dulux in our playroom which is cooler with more blue tones if that’s what you like x

Not sure If this has been asked, but what happens with Rolo going for a wee/poo on the grass? Does he do it? Is it easy to clear up? Our Boston terrier Bertie is 9 months old, and has started digging the lawn up 🙄 x
@katie_ellison
4 жыл бұрын
Hey Katie we have trained Rolo to go on a patch of gravel round the side of our house. But if he does ever wee on the grass (cause obviously we wouldn't class it as an accident as it is still outside!) we just hose it down with some water to stop it smelling. Sometimes we miss them I am sure but nothing smells yet! x

@katie_ellison

Our kitchen island is wood but the other units our mdf. Our budget didn’t allow for all of the units to be wood, but we wanted to do the island wood so we could repaint it easier if we ever got bored of the pink! X

You didn't mention your lovely bathroom. Is it coming in the regrets video?
@katie_ellison
4 жыл бұрын
It’s mainly because I wanted to mention things I think have transformed our home and made us live in it better, or while renovating seemed a good investment. I do love our bathroom but it’s not changed the way we live in it or been useful if that makes sense! We didn’t change the layout too much. That been said there is one thing in there I’m going to put in the things I wish we’d done differently video and that’s the bath. We’ve both always wanted a freestanding bath cause we love them, but we had the choice of having the bigger version and we didnt cause there wouldn’t have been much space and I think they look better interior wise with more space. But it’s quite small and I wish we’d gone for the bigger one. I think bigger would have been comfier to soak in! X
