I bought mine 3 weeks ago, went and tested it once with stock tyres and stock body, firsy thing I did was go ahead and bought myself some new hyrax tires and a jeep comanche proline body, went out a couple times since, it allready feels good, could be better but it's good! Def gonna try that oilshock tip later on! Amazing video on displaying at what this thing is trully capable off!

Dual stage tire foam is an underrated upgrade. After adding weight to your kit the tire sidewall will often suffer. You're not getting sidehill capabilities by just adding weights down low.

I got the kit version. I put a 80t brushed motor and Chinese “super swamper” tires with heavy steel wheels and it crawled out of a bathtub. I did not install the 2speed or the dig. The only upgrades that make sense for me after this point are: Shock oil, wider wheelbase, and lighter body. Bottom line: save your money.

Those "super swamper" tires are basically knocks off the Hyrax tires anyways. I have them on my SCX 10iii and the Proline Hyrax on my TRX4. I've swapped them back and forth and there's very little difference and the Super Swampers are such a good value!

the Proline Dual Stage foams in The Hyrax Predators and a decent weight rim would be my 1st Mod, along with trimming as must weight above the frame as possible. Gotta take the free performance Mods. Wondering if That Pinion will make the 2 Speed transmission more noticeable, or just use the dig, been hearing 2 speed trans not so hot.

Obviously its a tough call to get rid of that good looking body..I couldn't either... But thanks heaps for stripping one down a bit... even if its just to give the haters the vision to see that the scx10.3 is far from just the fully assembled kit version that is available at present... I can't understand why people keep comparing it to their Trx4 sport, Element enduro or scx10.2, it's a totally different complete build, with all the scale trimmings and accessories... Also have you considered getting the optional transmission gears to reduce ratio to approx 1.7:1 instead of 1:1 ratio? Seems to be the perfect mph you quoted in this video with improved torque. Cheers mate 👍

New to the game starting with a scx10 iii and have been told I’m spoiled. Questions: Best practice for storing our cars? On the chassis sitting on jacks or on its own from the wheels on a shelf? As seen in the background of your video. 4. What’s the method for determining our chassis weight to suspension oil weight to ensure proper compression? I.e #4 upgrade 8. Wheel spacers 8mm wide enough? Or 10 or 12 etc Great video I’m almost done with all the upgrades 😂

Although late with the reply, I personally jack my trx4 up so the tires aren't weighted. After a longer sitting period the tires were a bit deformed with a flat spot. It seems to have massaged out after riding, but I wonder if an even longer sitting period would cause a more permanent deformation.

I've lost the front joining piece now on the first run. Would like to put metal driveshafts in place that don't fall apart. Any suggestions? Noted! Basically, on most these courses on the video, this vehicle performs better with 4.2 inch tires. The reason is it lowers the center of gravity and decreases ground clearance. The lines we used on this video mostly did not demand high ground clearance (high rocks and roots). So small tires is better at the steeps but really hang up in very rocky, rutted lines.

A lot of basic issues for such a high priced kit. The enduro and gen8 seem like so much better box stock performers. Especially considering price/value.

If performance is your goal the enduro is correct, it is a better performers than the 10iii. The Gen8 is definitely not (I own both). The 10iii is aimed more at the original TRX4 owners who really want that super scale looking body and are willing to sacrifice some performance to gain more sale looks.

@@ironforgerc4799 Until the transmission rod gets replaced with the correct size. I don't think it's worth it's value. And besides some parts breaking too easily on the front end of my gen8, it's a pretty decent truck itself. And clearly keeps up with 10.3 on the exocaged side by side test. kzread.info/dash/bejne/g62Im6-niczUnag.html

whats the point in buying a rtr then spending a bunch of money to make it do what its supposed to do outta the box? better off building it yourself. then you only have to buy all that stuff once.

Good info, poor video quality. Also take some pride in your ride and do yourself a favor and clean them up when you are gong to take close ups. The close ups in the video with the grossly disgusting ride was pretty bad.

So you pay a fortune for your trail crawler you've always wanted and heard that it's brilliant. Then you find you have to spend at least another 250 pounds just to make the vehicle capable of crawling properly. That stinks.

this car is a scale model. who really cares about the pure perf? look is more important than climbing capacity which are becoming unreal compare to scale ones. brass weight, ok, tire and rims ok, but the rest....?

@@PhiddyPford The scx10lll needs way too much out of the box to even hang with a stock element..I have a heavily modified trx4 sport and a heavily modified element..the element has just the slightest advantage over the trx-4..I'm not impressed by the axial.
